I have experience working as an editor at a newspaper company
I worked as an editor at a newspaper company. I was able to study the overall media process and learn a lot at the beginning of my career in a family-like atmosphere where the editor-in-chief directly passed on his know-how to junior employees. I was able to learn exactly how articles are created and what my role is in the overall process, and I was able to learn all the skills related to editing by using editing-related programs. In particular, I was able to solidify my basic skills related to editing and design through continuous training in understanding the flow of writing and extracting key points.
After working at a media company, I wanted to experience more freedom in design and various fields, so I joined a creative group specializing in books and other publications. At the newspaper company, I was able to predict my work based on strict rules, but at my new company, everything happened simultaneously and the content changed from moment to moment. In addition, as a design agency, I experienced a busy lifestyle where work was carried out according to the needs of the advertiser, regardless of my own standards of perfection or schedule. However, I was able to endure that lifestyle because when a book or other product was finally released, I felt a sense of accomplishment that was different from working at a newspaper.
From coloring to game app developer
I was originally in the IT industry, but I was in charge of coloring rather than web design. When I joined the company in 2007, smartphones did not exist, so there were many teams developing content through coloring and ringtones rather than games. There, I was in charge of ringtone content service data analysis, service Q&A, system statistical analysis and verification, uploading and downloading, ringtone inspection, and overall ringtone production. However, I felt that the market was saturated, and when smartphones were released, I decided to develop apps. I started developing game apps in earnest while attending graduate school. I started game content publishing and contract management at an SK affiliate, and then formed an app development team and was in charge of content planning, communication with developers, app development and publishing, contract management, sales statistics analysis, and marketing management. After four years of production, I decided that I wanted to focus on creating games at a company specializing in games. At that time, I moved to a small venture company that made adventure games and spent three years creating two games. While maintaining the company, I decided to join your company because I wanted to develop full-scale adventure game apps with financial freedom.
After returning from Germany, I worked as a director for a program at a broadcasting station
I was very excited to start working in a field that allowed me to utilize what I had studied and broaden my cultural horizons. I chose a theme, analyzed the works and musical backgrounds of many teachers, and selected a group of various artists. I planned the first song theme in Korea and translated all of the lyrics. I also planned a concert and published a translation book.
I also took a position as a university professor and held seminars with visiting professors and lecturers to help performers and general audiences better understand classical music. I also contributed many articles to monthly magazines. In this way, I worked in various ways to achieve the goals of popularizing music, healing, and giving hope.
Combining my major and creativity
During my college days, I was most recognized for my brilliant ideas, but when working on group projects with my friends, I was slower at programming than my friends who were talented in that area. Since it was something I enjoyed and found interesting, it was natural for me to enter the IT field, but I decided that being a programmer was not right for me, so I started my career as a web planner.
After majoring in information and communication, my first job was CRM system planning and management. Based on my expertise in programming, I planned OLAP and data aggregation systems and was in charge of managing and operating the developed systems.
In addition, I was in charge of planning and developing content for games using game operation tools that I planned and developed. I was mainly engaged in web-based program planning and management, but as the company’s business expanded into the mobile field, I received further training and took on mobile planning tasks as well.
I have experience in computer network management
While attending college, I worked part-time at XX Tech, where I was in charge of computer network management. I also participated in computer server maintenance and management work and obtained a certification. It was not easy to balance work and school, but I think it helped me learn more efficiently. I felt that I didn’t have much time, so I was able to concentrate and make the most of every minute. I enjoyed seeing the range of things I could do expand as I developed my skills. So I challenged myself to obtain various IT certifications, including ○○, to build up my skills. I also gained sales skills while working as an intern in the technical sales support department. Since it was most important to acquire expertise, I devoted myself to learning about the company’s technical field after joining the company. While building relationships with business partners based on my expertise, I came to believe that mutual trust is the most important thing. I will strive to achieve the best results based on my expertise and trust.
Experience with Android app projects
While attending university, I was a member of a program development club within my department. Although I learned various programming languages, networks, servers, and other topics through my major courses, there were limits to keeping up with the rapidly changing mobile technology. To supplement my knowledge, I joined the program development club, and every year during the school festival, I had the opportunity to demonstrate the programs developed by the club at an academic exhibition. Developing programs for the academic festival was the most important activity of the club every year.
When I was the club president in my third year, we worked on a project to create a healthcare application based on the Android platform. Nowadays, people of all ages are becoming more interested in health, but the reality is that it is not easy to exercise regularly. Based on this reality, we classified muscle exercises and aerobic exercises that can be done in 5, 10, or 15 minutes during daily life and linked them to videos that can be followed according to the time. We designed the interface to show the calories burned and exercise effects for each exercise at a glance.
I collected a lot of data from the internet and went through a lot of trial and error during the programming process. As the academic festival approached and I wasn’t making any progress, I spent many sleepless nights trying to find a solution. Despite the difficulties, we finally completed the program, and I still cannot forget the joy I felt when I saw it running on an actual smartphone. The praise I received from my professors at the academic conference was a reward for the hard work I put in with my friends.
Entertainment website operator and developer
After graduating from college, I joined the development team of a movie ticket reservation website. As a ticket reservation site, it was most important to operate without any errors in real-time payments. As a movie ticket reservation site with a long history, we had a huge database, so data management was also one of the main tasks of developers. We checked the site traffic and page views every day, analyzed search terms on a daily basis, and managed database updates for each menu.
The site was renewed every quarter, and when it was time for renewal, I sometimes had to work late into the night or even work overtime for several days or a month, depending on whether it was a partial or complete overhaul. After the site renewal, I was busy fixing bugs. Time flew by so quickly that it felt like a year had passed in the blink of an eye.
Two years after I started working there, the company underwent a major overhaul to transform itself from a movie ticket reservation site into a comprehensive entertainment site. In addition to movies, we started offering ticket reservations for plays and concerts, as well as DVD sales and VOD services, which rapidly increased the number of pages on the site and the size of the database linked to each page. We needed to develop an integrated search system that would allow users to search all categories, including movies, plays, concerts, and VOD, so the site reorganization was a huge task. After many twists and turns, we were able to launch the service on the scheduled date, but the search function still needed improvement. While working on improving the search function, I found a problem with the code that called up the results when a search term was entered, and was able to successfully upgrade the integrated search service.
Three years of network development experience
I enjoyed studying information and communications at a vocational high school. In particular, although there were many difficult parts in network development and security classes, I was able to study more intently because I was motivated by the challenge. While studying in high school, I also learned that when faced with a difficult task, I have a competitive spirit that drives me to set goals and work harder. I also learned that if you work hard toward your goals, you will achieve good results. The more I studied, the more I realized that network and security were the right fields for me, so I decided to pursue a career in this area.
After graduating from high school, I joined a venture company specializing in network security as a network developer. As the youngest employee in the company, I received a lot of care and love from my seniors, and I was able to learn network development and security step by step and build up my career in this field.
During that time, I often thought about living abroad. I was especially concerned about this when I entered my third year at the company. When I discussed it with my parents, they said they would support me if I had thought it through carefully. As always, they gave me freedom and responsibility. I decided to study abroad and enrolled in an English language school while continuing to work.
Content featured on major portal sites
My award-winning contest entry during college led me to start my career at a content provider that supplies content to major portal sites in Korea.
In order to create good content, we went through a brainstorming process with no time limit, and we planned and produced content through thorough verification and evaluation in numerous planning meetings. Each team member had a lot of work to do, so we often had to work late, but I was able to enjoy my work because I believed that I was learning through the process. I am confident that my creative ideas, planning skills, practical skills acquired in the field, content production skills, and communication skills with colleagues will be a driving force in producing new content at your company.
While managing the company’s website, I took the lead in two major site revamps each year. Believing that the website should be the closest point of communication with customers, I revamped the site to reflect customer feedback and improve inconvenient features.
After the redesign, I held events and promotions to encourage active participation from customers. These activities contributed to the revitalization of the website, and my efforts were recognized when I was selected as the employee of the year at the company’s year-end party.
I am planning a global fashion magazine
I have experience working as a reporter for a global fashion magazine. It was just before I started my shopping mall, and I was working hard to gather as much information as possible with youthful enthusiasm. I tried to be creative in producing article content. Since web promotion content is important in terms of appearance, I studied design and presentation to learn effective ways of expression. I believe this will be a technical skill that will help me in my future work as a fashion MD.
After working as a reporter, I ran my own online shopping mall and planned a magazine to share the latest fashion trends. The magazine was distributed for free in subways and to related parties. Although it started as a free magazine, I am currently planning to update it into a global fashion magazine. The good thing about planning a magazine is that I can continuously gather the latest information in the fashion field. The information I gather can be applied to your company’s MD work.
