Collection of Self-Introduction Essay Components – Personality (Sense of Responsibility/Leadership)

In this blog post, we will introduce examples of personality traits that can be used in a resume, focusing on responsibility and leadership.

Flexibility and Responsibility

I possess consideration and flexibility. During team projects in my major courses, I was able to successfully lead the team by considering the needs of others rather than insisting on my own opinions, demonstrating consideration and flexibility.
Thanks to my flexible communication skills, I was able to give each team member the opportunity to express their opinions and coordinate them to reach a satisfactory agreement. I made sure no one was left behind and provided support whenever needed, enabling everyone to achieve good grades.
I am proactive and highly responsible. During my university break, I worked part-time at a tax accounting firm. I was responsible for preparing vouchers and maintaining ledgers. I was quick with my hands, so I always finished the tasks assigned to me before the end of the workday. However, I believed that helping my colleagues with their work and gaining experience was more beneficial for my personal growth than simply waiting for the workday to end. Therefore, I actively sought out tasks by asking colleagues if there was anything I could assist with or if there were any instructions they needed. This proactive attitude brought humor and laughter to the otherwise quiet tax accounting firm, earning me the trust and affection of my colleagues.

Outstanding curiosity and a sense of responsibility that drives me to complete tasks

I am highly curious and take responsibility for tasks assigned to me. I believe that satisfying my curiosity has not only fostered intellectual growth but also strengthened my willpower. I recall staying up late studying and searching for information with the determination to figure things out. I am a person who completes planned tasks and is thorough in preparing to execute them. After deciding to pursue a career in trade, I studied Chinese and enrolled in a Chinese language program to improve my Chinese skills. Currently, I am learning Japanese to enhance my language abilities as a trade professional. Additionally, I have consistently subscribed to economic journals to analyze market trends and studied economics textbooks to build a solid foundation of knowledge related to trade.
There are times when my determination to accomplish planned tasks can turn into overambition. In such cases, I feel excessive stress regarding the work, which I believe hinders my ability to perform tasks efficiently. Therefore, I always strive to maintain a mindset that avoids overambition.

I believe I possess a strong sense of responsibility

I dare say that I have more responsibility than my peers. This is because without that sense of responsibility, I would not have dropped out of high school. As the eldest son, I did not want to simply rely on support and attend high school halfheartedly while my family was struggling. I wanted to work as much as possible to support my parents. That’s why I dropped out of high school and started working. My parents told me not to do that and to continue studying, and they said I didn’t have to go that far, but I felt I couldn’t do that. So I decided to quit and start working. At that time, working all day at a paper mill earned me 1.5 million won, including overtime and special bonuses. I gave all of that money to my parents after deducting the bus fare. When my parents first received the money, they cried, and I still remember how I felt at that moment. I worked until I retired, and now, with the combined efforts of my family, we have finally overcome our difficulties. I am a person with a strong sense of responsibility.
On the other hand, my weakness is that I become so engrossed in my work that I often fail to listen to others. Once I start a task, I become so focused on completing it that if someone around me mentions being sick or tired, I tend to respond coldly, telling them to keep working. As a result, I am sometimes seen as a bit cold, but I also enjoy spending time with others and laughing, so people generally view me positively. I am currently thinking of ways to turn this weakness into a strength.

Responsible personality and leadership skills

My responsible personality and ability to lead others are my strengths. I believe this trait comes largely from my father. He always put his family before himself and gave us his trust. I realized that this trust is the foundation of leadership, and I strive to give trust to those around me. I believe that helping others form trust in me is a responsible attitude. Therefore, I have always taken responsibility for the tasks assigned to me. Another strength is my ability to reassure team members and inspire them to overcome challenges. I believe a leader is someone who fosters collaboration so that team members can work with passion and determination to achieve their goals. With this mindset, I served as class president every year in middle and high school and as student council president in college. Through these leadership roles, I have learned the importance of listening to others’ opinions and accepting criticism with humility. I believe these lessons will be valuable assets in my professional career.
I am a person who values principles and rules. I believe this forms the foundation of trust in me. However, I have come to realize that this aspect of my personality may sometimes make me appear inflexible. While adhering to principles is important, I am not rigid or inflexible. I will strive to achieve better results by balancing principle adherence with flexibility within appropriate limits.

I value principles and am very responsible

Thanks to my father, who told me that friends are more than just pride for a man, I have always valued my friends and thought deeply about loyalty among friends. Fortunately, I enjoy getting along with people and have a positive personality, so I have many friends. Through my many friends, I have naturally learned to understand different types of people quickly. Of course, when many people gather, there are those who unexpectedly disappoint you, and there are also those who unexpectedly bring you great joy. While I strive to be the kind of person who meets expectations and maintains good relationships, I also recognize that people’s hearts are not always consistent, and I too may sometimes disappoint others. However, what’s more important is not whether you are disappointed or not, but how you handle the situation and maintain the relationship afterward. So, when something happens between people, I try not to judge them superficially but to listen to their story and reasons until the end.
I value principles and take responsibility seriously. Sometimes, I can be overly persistent to the point of being stubborn once I set my mind on something. In daily life, this aspect of my personality can feel excessive and inconvenient, but in work, especially in my field of production equipment, I believe this level of focus and dedication is essential.

A personality that sees things through to the end

One of my strengths is that I see things through to the end. While it might be better to be someone who understands ten things once they learn one, I don’t think I’m that kind of smart. However, I’m not lacking either—I’m just an average person who gets results commensurate with my efforts. However, the reason I was able to graduate from university under better conditions than my peers and save money is because of my personality. Once I start something, I see it through to the end and don’t move on to something else until it’s finished. When my friends were switching between English and Japanese, I stuck with Chinese because I believed that changing direction midway would result in nothing being properly completed. So I persevered and eventually obtained the highest-level certification in Chinese (Level 5). As such, once I start something, I see it through to the end. If you trust me, I will demonstrate this same ability to see things through to the end if given the opportunity to join your company.
My weakness is that once I start a task, I tend to focus solely on it and not pay attention to my surroundings. I believe this is because I have a tendency to become fully immersed in my work. However, I strive to be more generous and kind in personal settings, even if I may come across as somewhat rigid in professional settings.

I am someone who starts tasks one at a time and sees them through to the end

The strength of my personality is that I see things through to the end. From my own experience, I don’t think I’m particularly intelligent or have a high IQ. I’m not the type who can memorize everything I see for the first time. However, even if I’m a bit clumsy at first, once I start something, I tend to see it through to the end and ultimately achieve it. For example, if I buy a diary, I will use it until the end without switching to another one, and I rarely lose my notebooks or journals. When it comes to studying, even if the subject doesn’t suit me, I start from the beginning and give it my best effort to achieve good grades. Once, while majoring in business administration, I decided to try studying humanities and applied for a minor in philosophy. However, the more I studied, the more I realized it was an unfamiliar field, and compared to students in other departments, I struggled with reading and critical thinking, which made it difficult for me to keep up. On days when I had philosophy classes, I would feel so stressed that my head would ache. Nevertheless, I believed that even a little knowledge of this field could have a significant impact, so I persevered, determined to give my best effort despite poor grades and the possibility of being overlooked by professors. As a result, while my grades were not outstanding, I achieved perfect attendance and earned the professor’s recognition, which led to an opportunity to participate in a graduate seminar. As such, I am someone who sees things through to the end once I start, and I have the perseverance to keep digging until I understand something I don’t know. I am confident that I can learn diligently at your company and eventually excel more than anyone else.
My personality flaw is that I am very sociable. While being sociable is generally considered a strength—as it allows me to get along well with others, engage in meaningful conversations, and enjoy talking with new people—I sometimes struggle to say no when asked for favors. I recognize this as a potential weakness in a professional setting and am actively working on developing better boundaries and assertiveness in my communication.

A leader with strong independence

Since elementary school, I have enjoyed spending time with friends, and thanks to my outgoing personality, I often took on leadership roles in school clubs and activities. I demonstrated leadership by gathering opinions from peers, reaching consensus, and articulating the group’s stance. In clubs, I never sought to be in the spotlight or take on prestigious roles. Instead, I willingly took on the more challenging tasks, regardless of whether others recognized my efforts. This attitude earned me the trust and support of my peers, enabling me to naturally assume leadership roles in any organization I joined.
My parents guided me to grow into an independent person. They didn’t just buy me everything I wanted; they carefully checked why I needed it and how I would use it. Even if they allowed me to have something, they made sure I contributed part of the cost. They made me contribute part of the money I saved from New Year’s pocket money, and they also made me use the pocket money I received from relatives when they visited. When I begged my parents to buy me soccer cleats instead of my regular sneakers because I loved soccer, I paid 5% of the cost. As I grew older, I began to realize that I should buy what I needed with my own money. So, starting in high school, I worked various part-time jobs to earn my own allowance. When I wanted something like a computer, I would make a plan, save up for several months, and then purchase it. Even though it took time, the sense of accomplishment and satisfaction I felt when I finally obtained something I truly wanted through my own efforts was incomparable. Through this growth process, I developed into a person with leadership skills and a strong sense of independence.

A personality that completes assigned tasks with a sense of responsibility

I am someone who completes assigned tasks with a sense of responsibility. I also believe that the tasks entrusted to me reflect the expectations placed on me, and I strive to fulfill them diligently. In the workplace, one is evaluated not only on how diligently one performs assigned tasks but also on how proactively one seeks out and completes tasks within one’s area of responsibility. Therefore, I approach my work with the same enthusiasm I felt when my parents gave me my own room, eagerly seeking out tasks to complete in every corner of my assigned space. Additionally, when I identify areas that the existing work system has overlooked and resolve them using my discretion, I feel a sense of pride.
I am not just a manager; I am responsible for the entire space I oversee, so I must approach every detail with care and dedication. In a way, the entire store operates under my name, so any issues that arise within my assigned area are my responsibility to address with a sense of accountability. This aspect of my personality also drives me to confront and handle the responsibilities assigned to me in my personal and social relationships without shirking them.

A person who is diligent and takes responsibility for the tasks assigned to them

Diligence and taking responsibility for the tasks assigned to me are my strengths. This sense of responsibility is why I am trusted with important tasks. Additionally, I have received positive feedback from my colleagues and was quickly promoted to team leader. I believe that responsibility is the most important quality for a team leader, alongside work ability. My responsible nature has been a great asset in demonstrating leadership and helping team members collaborate to achieve our goals. When working with others, I discuss the goals at hand and develop concrete plans to achieve them, ensuring that each team member feels a sense of responsibility. By helping team members understand the importance of their roles within the team, I foster a collaborative atmosphere, which leads to positive outcomes.
Listening to others is another one of my strengths. Rather than talking a lot about myself, I listen carefully to others, which helps me gather many ideas. I am able to objectively critique my own ideas and humbly accept criticism from others, which has greatly influenced my work performance. I focus on achieving cooperation among team members based on the belief that work should be done together rather than unilaterally.
I have a tendency to handle tasks quickly. While I pride myself on swift and accurate work, I sometimes make mistakes due to rushing. I will strive to improve both speed and accuracy to become an employee who consistently delivers excellent results.
