Growth

I used to be an unruly troublemaker. On top of that, I had a careless personality, so my father, at my mother’s suggestion, asked me to try calligraphy. So, I started learning calligraphy by grinding ink next to my father, who enjoyed calligraphy as a hobby. Regardless of my wishes, my father made me grind ink when I entered elementary school. On the day I first ground ink sitting next to my father, he talked to me at length about the mindset and posture required for calligraphy. Sitting quietly on my knees and grinding ink was not easy. My father never spoke once he picked up his brush, and as a child, I found it difficult to endure the silence and often broke it. When I did, my father would scold me harshly and teach me the importance of patience. I believe that the time I spent with my father had a great influence on me, helping me grow into a calm and patient person. During my six years of elementary school, my father never asked me to pick up a brush. He only asked me to grind ink. If I had been true to my nature, I would have immediately asked my father to teach me calligraphy. However, I accepted my father’s teaching and did not act rashly. Perhaps sensing this change in me, my father handed me a brush for the first time when I entered junior high school. I spent a year learning how to hold the brush. My father put a lot of effort into teaching me, just as a master craftsman would pass on his skills. The day I wrote with a brush for the first time in my second year of junior high school, my trembling hands left their mark on my writing. However, once I had mastered the basics, it did not take me long to learn calligraphy. After becoming somewhat accustomed to writing, I began studying Oriental painting. The day I first saw ink painting, I fell in love with Oriental painting. This growth process not only helped me develop patience, but also had a great influence on my decision to major in Oriental painting.

School days

Influenced by my parents, especially my father, I went to art school and majored in Oriental painting, but I was captivated by the beautiful ink paintings my friend created on his computer. Realizing that such beauty could not be expressed with just a brush, I began to learn computer programs. Using these programs, I started creating my own works and shared them with others on my blog. As my portfolio grew, more people asked to follow me, and now I have quite a few people who share my work. Using the calligraphy skills I learned from my father, I designed a font and entered it in a contest, where I won a prize. The font I designed is already in use. Many people took an interest in my work through my blog, and I even received inquiries asking if they could use my work to promote their products. As an art major, this opened my eyes to marketing. Although it was a little late, I took basic business courses in my third year of college to learn the fundamentals of business administration. Looking back, I think it was a good decision to actively pursue my studies at that time. If I had decided that it was too late and didn’t even try, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Thanks to my passion for business administration and my active learning, I was able to acquire basic knowledge of the field. Marketing theory was the area that interested me the most in my business administration classes. I believe that my passion and efforts during my college days have made me who I am today.

Strengths and weaknesses

I learned calligraphy consistently from a young age, which helped me develop perseverance and patience. I had a scatterbrained personality, but I think I was able to cultivate my mind by grinding ink at my father’s side. Perhaps my father’s educational policy of having me grind ink for six years was to teach me perseverance and patience. Through calligraphy, I was able to develop not only perseverance and patience, but also concentration. Calligraphy requires you to calm your mind and focus your spirit on the tip of the brush. That is why I was able to strengthen my concentration by writing each character carefully. I believe that the concentration I gained through calligraphy has been an advantage in my life in general. First of all, it has had a noticeable effect on my studies. Although I have not studied speed reading, I read faster than most people. By concentrating on what I read, I can understand the content accurately while reading at a fast pace. Therefore, when I was in middle and high school, I was able to study for exams by reading the material at least twice. In addition, when I started working, I was able to minimize mistakes and increase my efficiency by focusing as much as possible on my work. My ability to work efficiently allowed me to take on more responsibilities, which in turn allowed me to develop my practical skills.

Career history (or experience that demonstrates work ability)

Upon graduation, I was assigned to marketing and public relations. I was mainly responsible for creating promotional brochures and videos at the request of clients. As I am skilled at using various programs, I also participated in video editing and planning. The most important thing was to understand what was wanted and be able to express it accurately. So, when I was assigned a task, I made an effort to talk to the person in charge to understand what they wanted. Through these efforts, I was able to build trust with our clients and establish myself as a professional who could accurately express what was wanted. Later, I changed companies and worked at a consulting firm, where I was able to do more creative work. I was mainly in charge of carefully examining each company and analyzing what strengths they needed to grow, and then presenting my opinions. In order to perform this work more professionally, I decided that I needed to acquire more knowledge of business administration, so I studied to obtain a certification. Even business administration majors find this certification difficult to obtain, but in the process of studying for it, I was able to gain more specialized knowledge.

Motivation and aspirations

Anna Freud once said, “I always looked outside myself for strength and confidence, but confidence comes from within.
Confidence is always there.”
I always take time to calmly organize my thoughts before starting work. Then, I look inside myself and decide what I need to do, which gives me confidence. This is possible because I am fully prepared. Confidence cannot be given from outside. True confidence comes from within. I believe that opportunities come to those who work hard. With my strengths in perseverance and patience, I am steadily walking the path I have chosen without rushing. Although I majored in art, I have worked hard to gain knowledge in management in order to pursue a career in marketing and public relations. My artistic sense will also be useful in public relations work. As a talented individual with two skills, I would like to maximize my abilities and establish myself as a valuable member of your company. If I am given the opportunity to work at your company, I will not stop there, but will continue to strive to develop my abilities. Please watch me as I do so.
