In this blog post, we will look at examples of store management resumes to see how you can effectively emphasize your field experience and thorough self-management skills.
Growth
When I was a child, the supermarket my parents ran was like a living room where everyone in the neighborhood gathered. In a more developed city, it would have quickly disappeared and been absorbed by rapidly growing large supermarkets and hypermarkets, but in a small neighborhood that lacked the financial resources to compete, my parents’ store was always filled with popular and sought-after groceries and daily necessities. As a child who grew up listening closely to the conversations of the people who gathered every day behind my parents’ store, I was very proud of my parents’ store, which was small but filled with good products. Wherever I went, everyone knew me as the “son of the supermarket owner,” and my friends envied me because I could always get the snacks and drinks I wanted.
On the other hand, as the son of the supermarket owner, I was the center of attention, so I had to be careful of how I behaved. It was a small town with a relatively small population, so everyone knew each other, but growing up in a house attached to a supermarket that everyone visited regularly, I was particularly influenced by this. The advice that the adults in the neighborhood gave me as they came and went accumulated to dozens of words, and when I wanted to go out and play with my friends, the news quickly reached my mother and father, and even what I did at school and how my grades were would be reported, which was a bit of a headache for me. My ability to always be self-disciplined stems largely from my experiences during this time.
School life
The neighborhood where I was born and raised was small, so I had to commute to school, which was quite far away. This experience broadened my horizons and opened my eyes to the wider world. Until then, I had only been familiar with the small neighborhood where my parents’ shop was located and where people lived in a bustling community, but when I started attending school far away, I gradually began to open my mind to the “slightly wider” world. Until then, I thought it wouldn’t be so bad to take over my parents’ shop and live as a local big shot, but I gradually realized that there were many neighborhoods much larger than the one I had taken for granted, and that the world was much bigger than I had imagined, so I shouldn’t just stay there.
However, at the same time, I felt that I needed to rediscover my roots in the supermarket, which is so closely connected to people’s daily lives. Not only was it a place where I could deliver and sell the things people needed for their daily lives, but it was also a place where I could feel the warmth of people’s lives, which brought back memories of my childhood and made me want to live like my parents. No matter how large and successful large supermarkets became, small shops selling daily necessities would always be essential to people’s lives, and they evolved into convenience stores in cities. I realized that all the vicissitudes of human life that I had experienced through my parents’ shop when I was a child were happening there.
Strengths and weaknesses
I always try to maintain a balanced perspective without leaning too much to one side. People tend to rely on their emotions rather than reason, so it is inevitable that they will lean toward one side or the other. Nevertheless, I believe that the only way to pursue true reason is to constantly control oneself and move forward. Before people develop social skills, it is impossible for them to think of others first or to wear proper clothes and use the restroom in designated places, but after learning these things, they live their lives according to social rules that have been agreed upon by the majority. In other words, we cannot unconditionally rationalize things based on human instinct, but rather, we must constantly improve ourselves by finding ways to improve.
This made me develop somewhat strict self-management skills, and sometimes people would suggest that I should “take it easy a little.” People cannot always live with their bodies tense and on high alert, so it is necessary to have a certain amount of leeway and live life a little more leisurely. This was a good reminder for me, who had been living my life thoroughly without wasting any time in order to stay ahead of others, and I realized that it is important to have hobbies and take time to recharge and clear my mind, rather than just focusing on work.
Career
I have always believed that no matter how much I study and accept documented manuals and theories, they cannot compare to real-world experience. Starting from the lowest position at a franchise store, I worked my way up to the position of manager, and I worked very hard to absorb every little piece of advice and influence from those around me and make it my own.
I knew that every moment I spent working to become familiar with my job was a stepping stone to expanding my experience, and that I needed to take everything in deeply in order to absorb it faster than anyone else and become a better person. That is why I was able to grow by always treating customers with humility and generosity.
Reason for applying and aspirations after joining the company
When I was a child, my parents ran a small supermarket in a small neighborhood, where they were always close to the daily lives of the people and lived together with them. Even today, when small supermarkets have almost disappeared due to the wave of large franchise stores, my parents’ supermarket has remained a local institution, maintaining its simple atmosphere. Like my parents, I have always sought to build close relationships with people and be deeply connected to their lives. I would like to work hard to actively welcome and attract customers to your stores and establish a system of repeat customers.
If I join your company and am able to demonstrate my abilities, I would like to recall my childhood memories of often helping out at my parents’ supermarket, take a comprehensive view of the store, maintain a thorough attitude toward inventory and ordering of each product, and strive to find ways to coexist with people. In an era when large supermarkets are commonplace, I believe that small convenience stores that are frequently visited by customers have a unique advantage because they are closely integrated into people’s daily lives.
