In this blog post, we will introduce examples of how to naturally incorporate your perceptiveness and common sense into a self-introduction letter for a secretary position and effectively appeal to the reader.
My One&Only (your unique competitive advantages, such as job skills and qualifications)
“Perceptiveness learned through various social experiences!”
Not only was my family in a difficult financial situation, but I also wanted to live on my own, so I started working part-time at an early age. I started working part-time at a flyer distribution company, an internet cafe, and a bookstore when I was in junior high school, and after I entered high school, I worked at a department store and an outlet store as a perfume salesperson, earning money to support myself. Through these various part-time jobs, I learned to be observant. Social life is not just about doing your job well, but also about building good relationships with people. It is no longer enough to work hard and succeed because you know what you want and do it. Fortunately, I was able to quickly pick up on these things. So, when other people got one rice cake, I got two, and I was able to learn my job faster. Perhaps because of this, people often tell me that I have a pretty smile and am very perceptive, and that I am good at getting along with others. After hearing this, I decided to work hard and make the most of my abilities. Once I decided to become a secretary, I worked hard to improve myself physically, mentally, and intellectually.
Growing up
“My parents taught me perseverance”
I was a lively child who loved to play, and my parents were very worried about me. Eventually, my mother took me under her wing and started teaching me how to cook. She didn’t just teach me how to cook, but also how to make pickles and kimchi, which require a lot of time to prepare the ingredients and cook. After teaching me, she would even assign me tasks to do on my own. At first, I felt uncomfortable and upset that I had to cook when everyone else was playing, but I learned to wait patiently while cooking, and I was impressed by the feeling of accomplishment when the food was finished and the rich flavors that came from taking the time to cook. I think that was when I learned perseverance while learning to cook a variety of Korean and Western dishes. I think that perseverance helped me stick with my part-time job and finish my studies. When I worked hard on weekends, I would feel tired on Monday and Tuesday, but I knew that those days would be rewarded, so I was able to keep going. I believe that I will be able to stick with whatever I do in the future.
Strengths and weaknesses
“Unexpectedly determined”
Many people think I am fragile because I am petite and feminine, but when they talk to me a little, they are surprised by my unexpected determination. Since I have been doing various part-time jobs since I was young, I have developed social skills, and I know that I have to do my own work without being swayed by others. Once I start working, I focus on my work and act with determination. I don’t stop until the work is done, and I don’t give up halfway through, no matter what anyone says. When I was in a club at university, we had to perform for a group of Chinese people. Suddenly, the speakers broke, and we couldn’t play the music. My friends said we should do it another time, saying it wasn’t a scheduled performance, but I didn’t give up. I used Bluetooth to send the songs to my friends’ cell phones, played them all at once to amplify the sound, and made our own speakers using nearby equipment. That’s how we performed together. Since then, I’ve been known as a very determined child. When I do something, I tend to try my best to do it perfectly.
The downside is that I can come across as stubborn. I’m very perceptive, so I’m good at coordinating with others, but I’ll always keep in mind that my determination can sometimes turn into stubbornness, and I’ll work carefully.
Life motto
“It’s not a stumbling block, it’s a stepping stone.”
It’s not really a crisis, but most of the obstacles I’ve faced have been stepping stones. Not only did having to earn money due to my family’s financial difficulties give me valuable experience, but it also allowed me to discover that I have an exceptional ability to understand what people want, which helped me find my dream. I also had some trouble with my friends at school because I was so busy with my part-time job that I neglected them, which made them upset. That incident prompted me to confess my family situation to them, and it became an opportunity to become closer to my friends. When I was working part-time in an office, I was bullied for not knowing English, so I decided to enroll in an English language school and ended up mastering the advanced course. In this way, there are no obstacles, only stepping stones. No matter what I do in my future life, I will remember that all obstacles are stepping stones and calmly move forward.
Self-development
“Learning conversation skills and table manners.”
After deciding to become a secretary, the first thing I did was enroll in a conversation school. This was because I thought I tended to speak quickly and hastily. I thought I needed to learn how to speak calmly, so I took classes to correct my tone of voice and manner of speaking. Concentrating on speaking during class and correcting my speech made my head hurt, and sometimes I had trouble breathing, but I worked hard without giving up on my dream of becoming a secretary. So I completed the course. I also learned table manners. Actually, I didn’t come from a wealthy family, so I had never eaten out before and didn’t know how to behave in a restaurant, so I started learning calmly. As a result, I became familiar with Western, Chinese, and Japanese table manners. If there is anything else I need to learn in the future, I will continue to study and work hard.
Motivation for applying and aspirations
“I will become the secretary with the prettiest smile at XX.”
Your company is actively exporting not only to South Korea but also overseas. You are actively importing and exporting medical equipment and are constantly importing new equipment. I admire your company’s innovative spirit. I wanted to join your company and work with such people. That is why I applied for this position.
