What strengths should you emphasize in an IT office job application letter?

In this blog post, we will introduce the key competencies that will help you in your work and focus on the strengths you should emphasize in your IT office job application letter.

Growth

Thanks to my parents’ influence and qualities, I was able to develop a unique talent for languages. My parents, who run an academy, have always been very interested in education policy. Whenever there were changes in education policy, private education faced a crisis, so my parents always paid close attention to education policy and did a lot of work to predict and analyze future trends. Both of my parents majored in English and taught English, and they devoted themselves to developing educational methods to help Korean students become proficient in English. I can say that I was the subject of their experiments. Thanks to them, my English skills were superior to those of my peers. Even though I had never been abroad and had no experience studying with native speakers, I had no problem communicating with foreign friends. In junior high school, I exchanged letters with foreign friends and traveled abroad during school vacations. I made these efforts to confirm my language achievements, which gave me a lot of confidence. Carrying on this momentum, I began studying other languages, and as I was interested in Chinese and Japanese, I studied them steadily. With my keen interest in languages, I entered a foreign language high school and majored in Russian, where I learned Russian. The unique methods and strange writing systems captivated me. As I began to use multiple languages, I began to see the similarities between them, which greatly helped me improve my language skills. I believe that learning various languages during my formative years improved not only my language skills but also my thinking skills. This is because I gained the ability to combine what I learned and develop new ways of thinking.

School Life

I grew up watching my parents always carry books with them, so I loved reading. That’s why even before I entered elementary school, I had already developed the habit of studying various subjects on my own. And because I talked about my interest in foreign languages, other children tended to envy me and follow me around. When I entered junior high school, my attitude toward learning became ingrained, and I studied even more. Traveling abroad also helped me become more independent and gain confidence. I went to a high school specializing in foreign languages and majored in Russian, which sparked my interest in Russian culture. In my efforts to learn about the culture, I came across many Russian literary works. At first, I found them difficult to understand, but I didn’t give up and kept reading until I finished them all. Once I had acquired a certain level of Russian language proficiency, I started reading original books. There were slight differences between the translations and the original texts, and in some cases, the original texts were easier to understand. Perhaps the difficult parts were lost in translation. I tried to understand their culture by translating Russian works on my own. If I was fascinated by languages in high school, I was obsessed with sports in college. I was fascinated by extreme sports and started enjoying the thrill despite my parents’ warnings that it was dangerous. I think extreme sports made me a more outgoing person. While participating in a sports club, I took on the role of secretary, which allowed me to discover my aptitude for administrative work. I found it enjoyable to utilize my skills in processing various documents.

Strengths and weaknesses

Although I am introverted, I am not the type to sit still and read books. I enjoy thrills and adventure, which is why I enjoy extreme sports. I am outgoing yet meticulous, and I am recognized for my abilities wherever I go. Perhaps because my parents worked in education and always emphasized living a disciplined life and sticking to the basics, I am often told that I am a model citizen because I behave in accordance with social norms. There is a common prejudice that people who live according to norms are narrow-minded, but I pride myself on being open-minded and flexible. I have studied several languages and made an effort to understand the ways of thinking and cultures of those cultures, which I believe has laid the foundation for my unbiased thinking.
On the other hand, I am very sensitive, and sometimes I am unable to remain calm even in situations that require it. My emotions do not cause me to make mistakes at work, but I think that my indecisiveness when it comes to making cold decisions could be a major weakness. That is why I am working hard to be honest with my feelings. I believe that by being honest with my feelings, I will be able to control them better.

Career (Experience)

I used to work as a consultant at my parents’ entrance exam research institute. Of course, it was mainly during school vacations, but I was known for providing customized consulting to students based on thorough analysis. Through this work, I realized that entrance exams are based on thorough data analysis and that they are therefore very honest. By analyzing several years of data on successful applicants and familiarizing myself with changing education policies, I believe I was able to provide consulting services that met the needs of each student. Through this experience, I have acquired data analysis skills, the ability to interact with students and parents, and document processing skills. I am confident that this work experience will be a great asset in handling the global business of your company.

Motivation for applying and aspirations

Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “All experiences that stop us and make us afraid teach us strength, courage, and confidence. Once we have overcome these fears, we can tell ourselves that whatever comes next will not be a problem. Therefore, do the things you think you cannot do.”
I understand that you may have doubts about my application to the IT industry. You may wonder how my strong language skills and outgoing personality will be helpful. However, if you think about it a little differently, I am applying for an office position, and I believe that my language skills will be very helpful as IT continues to expand globally. In addition, I believe that my outgoing personality will be a positive factor in forming bonds with others. As Roosevelt said, I can confidently say that I can get things done, rejecting the preconception that something cannot be done. In other words, I am confident that I am the right person for your company as it prepares to expand globally. I am talented in various languages, and I believe that my English skills are second to none. Therefore, I have decided to apply for a position at your company, armed with my global mindset and communication skills. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to work in a field that interests me. I would like to help improve the efficiency of your company’s operations with my attention to detail and spirit of challenge. If you hire me, I promise to actively demonstrate my abilities and contribute to the growth and advancement of your company by taking the initiative rather than shying away from new changes.
