Sample self-introduction letter for advertising industry: Is this okay?

In this blog post, we will share a sample self-introduction letter that we wrote when applying for a job in the advertising industry.

Background

“I like to make people happy!”

In elementary school, I was known as a class clown. I was a playful student who always looked for opportunities to make my friends laugh during class, and I was often scolded by my homeroom teacher. I was often called out of class and told not to play around during class, and my mother was called to school many times. However, even when I was scolded, I would just laugh it off, so my teachers and parents eventually gave up on me.
However, when I was in the fourth grade, one of my classmates caught a bad cold and couldn’t speak at all, but I teased him as usual. Knowing that he couldn’t speak, I gave him medicine and teased him, saying, “If I’m wrong, say something! Are you mute?” My mother was called to school, and even the mother of the friend I teased came to school to scold me. Seeing my mother bowing her head repeatedly to my friend’s mother, begging for forgiveness, I realized belatedly that my teasing had been too harsh.
After that incident, I lost all my energy and became apathetic and uninterested in going to school. Perhaps feeling sorry for me, my father suggested that we go mountain climbing together. I loved spending time with my father, so I happily went with him, and through our conversations on the mountain, I was able to establish my way of thinking. My father asked me why I had teased my friend, and I told him that I liked making my friends laugh with my funny comments.
My father told me that while it was commendable to want to make people laugh, it was not right to make fun of other people’s weaknesses. He told me that there were many ways to make people happy without teasing or hurting them, and that I should find those ways to make my friends happy.
My father’s words made me sincerely reflect on my behavior, and since then, I have grown into a child who does not make fun of my teachers or friends and who speaks and acts appropriately for the situation.

Strengths and weaknesses

“Lively ideas and planning skills”

I have a lively and positive personality. I have a natural positive energy that makes me the life of the party in any situation. When I got bored in class, I would go to the front of the room and sing songs or imitate comedians to liven up the atmosphere. Thanks to this personality, I was able to demonstrate my friendly leadership skills in my department and club activities during college. I believe that making people happy is enjoyable, so I was able to do difficult tasks with a smile. I take responsibility for the tasks assigned to me, which gives me a sense of pride and earns me the support and trust of others.
I have creative ideas and excellent planning skills. I always think about how to make repetitive tasks more enjoyable and interesting, so people often say that I am a creative and ingenious person. Thanks to these ideas, I participated in a college idea contest and won two individual awards and one group award. However, because I have many creative ideas and am lively and get along well with people, I am sometimes told that I am too distracted. I always try to be careful, but when I hear such comments, I remember my father’s teachings and try to control my words and actions according to the situation.
I am willing to take on new challenges. Even when faced with difficult tasks or situations, I don’t easily get frustrated or give up. I live my life positively, believing that there is something to learn from everyone, and as a result, many people say that I am reliable and fun to be around.

School Life

“Ready to become an advertising executive!”

Influenced by the rapid advancement of science and technology, the field of visual communication is also changing at a rapid pace. I thought that the importance of video and media would increase in the 21st century, which is said to be the era of video information.
I wanted to find a career that would entertain people and suit my lively personality, so I became interested in broadcasting and video media and decided to major in Media and Communication. By focusing on the balance between theory and practice, I was able to understand the characteristics of the new communication environment and various new media. The media shapes public opinion and psychology, but it is also influenced by public opinion and psychology to the extent that broadcast content changes, creating a dynamic relationship of mutual influence. Therefore, I wanted to better understand social phenomena and human psychology, so I took psychology and sociology classes as electives to broaden my understanding and knowledge in these areas.
As expected of a department with a strong interest in broadcasting and media, there were many small clubs and academic societies within the department that were very active and professionally run. I was particularly interested in advertising videos, so I participated in the Advertising Society. Through my seniors who were interested in video, I was able to learn video production and editing skills, and our society always produced and screened department advertisements at festivals. Within the society, we often formed teams with like-minded people and participated in various college contests. I participated in an idea contest hosted by a financial company as part of a team and received an honorable mention, and I also won two awards in a home appliance idea contest that I participated in individually, where my ingenious ideas, creativity, and planning skills were recognized.

Motivation for applying and aspirations

“An advertising professional who leads customer needs and trends”

Since elementary school, I often went mountain climbing with my father. I love mountain climbing so much that I have visited all the famous mountains in Korea, such as Seorak Mountain and Jirisan Mountain. When climbing a mountain, the closer I get to the summit, the heavier my legs feel and the heavier my backpack feels on my shoulders, but when I overcome the pain and reach the summit, I feel that it was all worth it. When climbing a mountain, you look at the trees up close, but when you reach the summit and look down at the forest, the trees look different. That is why I understand that it is important to have a broad perspective in social life, to see the trees and the forest.
If I join your company, which is a comprehensive advertising agency with a proven track record of professional achievements in various fields, including broadcasting, advertising, promotion, and events, I will approach my work with creative planning and ideas. I will strive to satisfy customers with high-quality content that reflects their needs and leads the trends of the times, thereby contributing to strengthening the company’s competitiveness and increasing sales.
