Sales resume: How to catch the eye of a recruiter

In this blog post, we will share key strategies and tips for writing a sales resume that will catch the eye of a recruiter.

Motivation and aspirations

Please describe your motivation for applying to the LG Household & Health Care Sales Academy, your aspirations for growing as a sales leader, and the leadership style you aspire to.
I believe that in order to grow together with someone, you need to be on the same page. In that sense, I have always wanted to work for a company with a clean and upright spirit. I am confident that I will be able to further develop the values I aspire to at LG Household & Health Care, a company with a healthy corporate spirit that dreams of becoming number one through fair management and never compromises on the principles of fair management.
I believe that the Sales Academy is a program that helps me and the company determine whether we are a good fit for each other over the course of a month or two, so that we can grow together in a win-win situation. I believe that the Sales Academy internship program will be an opportunity to gain an understanding of the work and assess my sales skills. Furthermore, I believe that overseas seminars will provide me with opportunities for global growth as a sales leader with a broader perspective. I want to become a sales expert who achieves even more progress alongside my seniors at the Sales Academy, who have led the company’s continuous growth for 20 years, and become a sales leader who helps both myself and the company achieve a win-win situation.
I don’t think that being a good leader means being eloquent and speaking well. I believe that the true ability of a leader is to inspire others to want to do what they are asked to do, rather than simply giving orders. This is the ideal leadership style that I aspire to, and I want to grow as a sales leader with the ability to inspire others.
During my college days, I once ran a charity sale with my club members during a festival. My juniors, who were eager to enjoy the festival, lacked motivation, and naturally, the sale was not very successful. Rather than scolding them, I encouraged them. I tried to understand their feelings and consider their perspectives, and instilled in them a clear sense of purpose as to why we were doing this. In the end, my consideration and sincerity moved them, and with a clear sense of purpose, they began to participate enthusiastically in the business. As a result, we were able to earn about 2.5 million won in three days and deliver the donations to those in need.
Even after joining the company, I want to be a leader who understands and considers people’s feelings rather than a leader who talks a lot. I will become a sales leader who stimulates a clear sense of purpose and motivation to help others work with voluntary enthusiasm, makes consumers want to buy products, and moves my seniors to want to work with me. Through the Sales Academy, I want to become a sales leader who helps others want to do things rather than telling them what to do, and I hope to have the honor of welcoming the next group of juniors.

Experiences and specific examples that influenced your values

What experiences have had the greatest influence on shaping your values, and what did you learn from those experiences? Please provide specific examples that have influenced your life since then.
Conscience is more frightening than the law. This is a saying from my father, who has worked in the service industry for 15 years, always following his conscience rather than chasing immediate profits. Those who break the law are punished publicly, but deceiving oneself and abandoning one’s conscience cannot be forgiven by anything, my father said. His words taught me to live a life that I can be proud of. During my college days, I experienced an incident that made me realize the importance of that lesson.
It was during my first midterm exam after entering university. I wanted to get good grades on my first exam as a university student, so I decided to cheat. I was able to get a good grade, but I was ashamed of my deception and suffered from remorse. Unable to bear the pain, I finally went to my professor and told him everything. I received a harsh scolding and a low grade. After revealing the truth and receiving appropriate punishment, I was able to leave my professor’s office with a lighter heart.
This experience made me remember my father’s words and realize that keeping my conscience clear is the source of my confidence and integrity. Having learned this important lesson through my own experience, I wanted to share it with as many people as possible. So, during exam season, I stood in front of the library and handed out coffee in paper cups with a message saying, “I am proud of you for choosing your conscience over your grades,” to my fellow students to support their conscience. The confessions of my friends who said they couldn’t cheat because of the paper cups motivated me even more. I became convinced that my actions could change the actions of others. Since then, I have stood in front of the library with paper cups every exam period throughout my college career.
Keeping my conscience and pursuing honesty are the beliefs I want to uphold. Through this experience, I realized the importance of those beliefs and learned that my right actions can lead others down the right path. Based on this experience, I will practice LG Household & Health Care’s ethical management and become an employee who can serve as a role model for my colleagues.

Examples of talent profile

Among the various extracurricular activities you participated in while attending university, please present one example that you believe aligns with LG Household & Health Care’s ideal candidate profile and explain why you believe so.
At some point, waffles became popular, and cafes began offering coffee and waffle sets, and a variety of waffles ranging in price from 1,000 won to 10,000 won began to appear in college towns. I thought that if something new appeared in the increasingly uniform college town, it would sell well, so I decided to put my idea into practice during winter break. First, I was careful in selecting the item. Considering that it was vacation time, I needed to develop a menu that could be sold during the season. While thinking about it, I decided on an item based on the familiar but forgotten taste of bungeo-ppang (fish-shaped cake) and found a suitable supplier to sign a contract with. After selecting the item, it was important to choose a location. We looked for a place with as many people as possible nearby and settled on a crosswalk near a school with many cram schools. To prevent friction with neighboring shops, we visited them before starting business to introduce ourselves and ask for their understanding.
Our main target customers were students attending cram schools, so we only operated on weekday evenings, taking into consideration the teachers’ schedules. Although we were only open for four to five hours a day, we had a thorough plan and were able to secure regular customers who would come at the same time every day. In addition, our customer base grew to include not only our main target customers, but also older customers who remembered the old days. I had to stand in the freezing cold to bake the fish-shaped cakes, but I was able to overcome the cold with the joy and sense of accomplishment that came from successfully generating profits through my own business plan. As a result, I earned about 2 million won in a month. Although my abilities cannot be evaluated solely based on profit, I am confident that my experience of actively seizing business opportunities and actually generating income has become my unique competitive advantage. I am confident that this experience will serve as a good foundation for my future career at LG Household & Health Care, where I will be responsible for developing new products, establishing sales strategies, and performing sales management duties.

Proposals for sales and marketing policies

Please select one product or category among those launched by LG Household & Health Care that has the weakest sales and marketing policy (i.e., the least appealing) and explain the reasons logically. Then, propose sales improvement strategies (various ideas such as promotions, sales promotions, displays, VMD, distribution, and pricing).
Many people still avoid using air fresheners because they believe they are unhealthy or cause headaches due to their strong scent. However, despite the release of natural products such as Partel Mi-Hyang air fresheners, which have a subtle scent and deodorizing effect, and scented salt stones, it is believed that these products have not been well received by consumers due to problems with sales policies and promotion. In particular, considering that many customers still lack awareness of air fresheners made from natural ingredients, I believe that urgent measures for promotion are necessary. I have devised the following specific strategies to address these weaknesses.
The first strategy is to utilize olfactory memory. As the famous commercial copy says, “I smell my man’s scent on a strange woman,” scent leaves a powerful impression second only to sight. Taking advantage of this, I came up with the idea of using specific partels at LG Household & Health Care stores such as Beautiflex and The Face Shop. By naturally exposing customers who visit the store to the scent, I believe that we can increase their familiarity with and interest in the product.
The second strategy is product promotion planning. I believe that we can achieve two goals at once by borrowing the reputation of Sharfan, which surpassed Pigeon to take the top spot, and conducting appropriate publicity. By focusing on the concept of “Saffron for clothes, Partel for homes,” we believe that we can naturally expose the product to housewives, who are the main customer base for fabric softeners. Customers who purchase Saffron are likely to have a positive image of existing LG Household & Health Care products, so we believe that this will have a direct impact on their purchasing decisions.
The third strategy is to take advantage of the seasons. In the coming spring, it will be difficult to ventilate rooms due to yellow dust. We will emphasize that our product can provide a refreshing feeling without opening windows. Even outside of spring, we think it would be helpful to emphasize that ventilation is difficult in summer due to the rainy season and in winter due to the cold.
Considering that it is difficult to ventilate offices and other everyday living spaces for various reasons, I believe that air fresheners are products with great growth potential. Through the Sales Academy, I am confident that I can grow as a sales professional who can expand the air freshener market and increase sales with better strategies.
