In this blog post, we’ll discuss which project experiences new developers should focus on in their cover letter to get noticed by interviewers.
Growing up
“Responsible and proactive”
I was raised by my mother, a police officer, who emphasized responsibility from a young age. They were a police couple, and my father was killed in the line of duty, so I was raised by my mother. I was so young that I have very few memories of my father, but my mother often told me what a great man he was, so I grew up with a lot of respect for him, just like the great men we learn about in school.
My mother, who worked hard to raise me so that I wouldn’t feel the void of my father’s absence, wanted me to be a person who would be proud of myself as well as others when I grew up.
Teaching me to finish what I start and take responsibility for what I do was something I heard like nails in my ears growing up.
I emphasize this because responsibility is something that is easy for everyone to talk about, but it’s hard to follow through on. She taught me to be age-appropriate in school so that I don’t become incompetent by failing to fulfill my responsibilities. These teachings have helped me grow into a responsible person who follows through on tasks.
I was an active student and got along well with people. I asked a lot of questions in class, and if I had any doubts, I would look them up on my own and actively solve the problem. Throughout my school life, I listened to my teachers, did my assignments well, and was recognized by my teachers and friends, and they often recommended me when something happened in class.
Personality strengths and weaknesses
“Inclusive and adaptable”
I have a personality that embraces people. I learned tolerance and inclusiveness from my mother, who took care of everything for me in place of my father, who I didn’t see very often. She taught me the importance of always greeting people first and being polite in any situation, so I grew up being complimented by the elderly people in my neighborhood for my greeting skills.
I am adaptable and organized. When I go to an unfamiliar place, I look forward to it instead of being nervous, and I approach people I don’t know and say hello. Because of my proactive approach, I am very adaptable to any environment or people I meet. I learn things quickly, and when I do the same thing, I do it more thoroughly and perfectly than others without making mistakes.
School life
“Diverse experiences, sincere activities”
During my college life, it was my goal to have a lot of diverse experiences. I participated in many competitions with my seniors and peers in the department and learned the importance of leadership, cooperation, and decision-making through discussion during the preparation process.
I joined the economics department and was active in the marketing club within the department. While preparing for various competitions, the club engaged in various activities such as coming up with ideas to lead the latest trends and creating business plans to develop creative items into businesses.
I worked various part-time jobs during my vacations, such as working at a wedding hall, working as a convenience store salesperson, and serving at a cafe, which showed me how diverse the world is. In particular, I worked as a production worker at a semiconductor manufacturer, which taught me how important teamwork among colleagues is in an organization.
Until my sophomore year, I was so busy with school, part-time jobs, and traveling that I never took a day off from home. However, my studies were somewhat neglected, and in my junior year, I started to pay more attention to managing my grades. I worked on improving my English and computer literacy skills.
Career
“Sales Management and Sales Planning”
After graduating from college, I started working in sales management at an automobile parts manufacturing company. I was in charge of sales management and planning at the sales headquarters of a company that supplies and exports auto parts to automobile manufacturers and tier 1 suppliers in Korea.
I was in charge of generating sales data, creating reports and maintaining data, establishing annual budgets for the sales department, budget reduction plans, monthly budgeting and budget performance management, establishing annual sales plans, analyzing performance against plans, analyzing weekly/monthly/quarterly performance, analyzing monthly profit and loss, and managing profit and loss status by customer. I was also in charge of regularly analyzing automotive market trends, establishing sales strategies and proposing sales directions accordingly, and creating company-related public relations materials.
It was not an easy task to manage about 200 customers in a sales team of 3 people, but my colleagues worked well with each other, dividing tasks and helping each other, and we boasted the best teamwork of any team.
