In this blog post, we will provide specific guidance on the core competencies and warm messages that you should include in your self-introduction letter to become an asset manager who works with the common people.
Motivation and efforts
“Nonghyup, a proud institution that protects the common people”
I grew up in a neighborhood where many elderly people lived. There weren’t many children in the neighborhood, so when I came home from school, I enjoyed doing errands and getting candy in return. The most common errand I did was to go to the Nonghyup Bank. All of my grandparents had accounts at Nonghyup, which they used to save money, send money to their beloved children, pay for medicine, and pay utility bills. Nonghyup was always there for my grandparents. So it was natural for me to want to work at the National Agricultural Cooperative. I had dreamed of working at the National Agricultural Cooperative since I was very young. As I grew older, I learned that it was an institution that protected the common people, provided welfare for the common people, and worked hard for farmers, which made me want to work there even more.
I have a meticulous personality, and since I was young, I was in charge of general affairs. When I think of myself, I am more rational and good at detailed calculations and work, so I obtained my accountant license early and worked part-time as an accounting assistant. After realizing that I was good at my job, I made a decision and obtained the relevant qualifications to become an asset manager. I obtained qualifications as an investment advisor, fund investment advisor, and asset manager, and dreamed of working as an asset manager at Nonghyup. I will continue to work hard to make Nonghyup shine and grow into an excellent asset manager who benefits Nonghyup’s customers. Thank you very much.
Personal Strengths
“Let’s spread warmth to everyone.”
My strength is that I am a rational person, so I don’t get easily excited by what people say, struggle with my own feelings, or get swayed by the atmosphere and make mistakes. Rather than growing up doing whatever I wanted, I grew up in a neighborhood with many adults who taught me to always be self-aware and polite, so I have always been able to maintain a calm and level-headed attitude. Therefore, I am not someone who lets my personal emotions get in the way of my work. Among the various part-time jobs I have had, the most difficult one was working at a ski resort. I experienced extreme conditions while working at the ski resort. Not only did I have to carry heavy equipment in the cold, but the biggest problem was that I had to stay awake during the ski resort’s opening hours. I worked from 5 a.m. to 3 a.m. for three months, sleeping less than two hours a day, and lost 10 kg. However, I didn’t show any signs of fatigue or hardship when dealing with people, and I treated all kinds of customers, including difficult customers, couples who came and caused trouble, and customers who had trouble renting skis, with kindness and warmth. I thought that if I let my feelings of hardship show, I wouldn’t be able to endure it myself. So, I treated each and every customer calmly and kindly, and their smiles and words of gratitude gave me the energy to finish my work. It was a time when I didn’t earn much money, couldn’t sleep, and experienced extreme conditions, but I think I trained myself to be patient and always convey warmth to people.
Achievements
“Ranked first in popularity at a leadership camp”
I have also won an award for submitting a paper for the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, and I have experience crying with my teammates on the plane back to Korea after volunteering abroad. However, what gave me the greatest sense of accomplishment was winning first place in the popularity contest at a leadership camp. After graduating from college, I wanted to prepare for a professional license, but I felt that spending all of my time studying would be a waste of my youth, so I decided to participate in an extracurricular activity. I joined a leadership camp held at my school and received 10 weeks of training in leadership, management, and self-development. However, it wasn’t the experience itself that was the problem, but rather the fact that everyone who participated in the leadership camp was a leader, student council president, or club president, so it was very difficult to coordinate opinions. For example, even when we were randomly divided into teams and given assignments, everyone was so focused on expressing their own opinions that it was difficult to reach a consensus. So, what I did was always listen to other people’s opinions. In a place where everyone was arguing and ignoring each other’s opinions, I was the only one who listened without expressing my own opinion. Gradually, other people started listening like me, and eventually, we were able to talk openly, share our strengths and weaknesses, and cooperate with each other. At the end of the camp, in addition to the team awards, I was voted the most popular participant and received praise for being the person most needed at the leadership camp. At that moment, I realized that people who listen and acknowledge others are just as important as those who lead them.
Failures and lessons learned
“Failing the civil service exam I was confident I would pass”
Before graduating from college, I was preparing for the civil service exam. When I was in my third year, I saw people who kept failing to find jobs and seniors who were struggling, and even though I had always been confident, I lost my confidence and didn’t know what to do. So, I started preparing for the civil service exam for an accounting position in conjunction with my qualification preparation. However, after failing the exam twice, I realized that unless I had a sense of vocation and truly wanted to do something, I would not work hard and my efficiency would not improve. So, I put the civil service exam on hold and thought carefully about what I wanted to do. Then I realized that I had wanted to work at the National Agricultural Cooperative since I was a child, and I missed the warmth and consideration I had experienced there. Without hesitation, I set my goal and began studying. At that time, I realized the importance of having a goal, and now that I have set a goal and am working toward it, I have no regrets, worries, or fears.
