In this blog post, we will introduce how to effectively include practical experience, document writing skills, and examples of collaboration in your self-introduction letter when applying for an OA administrative assistant position.
Growth
“The early bird catches the worm.”
I liked breathing in the early morning air, so I used to wake up early. I would wake up before my parents, wash up quietly by myself, and go outside to breathe in the fresh air on an empty stomach, which made me feel good and relieved me of any stress. Naturally, I was the first to arrive at school, and although I went early because I liked it, I was soon treated as a model student and began to receive special attention from my teachers. Even though I wasn’t very ambitious, my teachers sought me out, and since I arrived early and had a lot of free time, I helped the security guard, who liked me and gave me leftover school supplies and even made me a table because he was very skilled. Since I came to school early, I became the head of the student council, and as I gained experience in leading children, I became the class president and then the student council president. Through these experiences, I realized that people who wake up early and start their day early really do get more out of life. So, even when I was young, I got into the habit of waking up early without anyone telling me to, and since I started working at the company, I feel that I need to wake up even earlier, so I start my day at 5 a.m. Just like at school, I became the earliest person to arrive at work, and perhaps because of that, I have many bosses who recognize my abilities.
School days
“Leadership developed through sports”
I was originally a passive child who just went to school early. Then, my physical education teacher noticed me and I started track and field. I loved running, I admired the track and field uniforms, and above all, I noticed that they got bread for lunch, so I continued track and field until my second year of high school. I wasn’t training to be a professional athlete, so I was able to balance my studies, but the training was so intense that I felt like I was going to die after every session. However, running helped me escape my poor family circumstances and difficult situation, and I naturally developed a positive outlook on life, gradually becoming a happier child. I also think that the close relationship I had with my seniors was a fundamental factor in helping me grow into a positive person. The military-style discipline was tough, but the seniors looked out for me, and I was able to shed my passive personality and become someone who could go out into the world and speak up. As a result, I was able to become the head of the student council, class president, and student council president. I think I was able to grow into a child who is not afraid to stand in front of people.
Strengths and weaknesses
“People are the most important thing in the world.”
The best thing about my personality is that I value people. I realized that this is my strength as I went through my social life. In a society that values ability, people tend to overlook the power of other people. However, the important thing is that everything starts with people and is resolved by people. I understand this very well. I know that I need to be especially kind to my coworkers and junior colleagues. I know that the more someone seems easy to get along with, the more I need to treat them with respect, because that will help me find good partners when I need to find someone to work with in the future. I also know that when I am struggling, it is not money that will support me, but people. When people are struggling, it is not because they have a lot of work, but because they are emotionally troubled. People who lift you up and give you energy during times like that are good friends. That is why I treat people with respect and strive to have many friends around me.
My weakness is that I am a good follower, so I have a hard time saying no. I have lent money to people, thinking that they had their own circumstances, but I have been let down badly in the past. Now, I am trying to learn how to say no to people, and since I was promoted, I have become better at it.
Career history (or experience that demonstrates your work abilities)
“Skills developed through office work experience”
I joined a marketing company as an office worker, where I was in charge of online and offline marketing, and I also took on sales work, meeting with clients and signing contracts. It was a start-up company, so I worked diligently without distinguishing between my own work and others’ work, thinking that if I didn’t, something bad would happen, and I worked late into the night. As the company grew and became more stable, I wanted to work for a larger company. So, I joined Korea Asset Management Corporation and started working in an office position. I worked in contract and copyright management, frequently visiting law offices to resolve related disputes, which allowed me to naturally acquire basic knowledge of law. In addition, based on my experience meeting business partners while working at a marketing company, I was able to interact with various people and build a network, which helped me conclude various contracts. Working with money taught me to be meticulous, and I took on responsibility for expense reports and payroll. Eventually, I wanted to work in a more aggressive sales and marketing environment, so I applied to SK Innovation.
Self-development
“Building my resume through language skills”
After deciding that I wanted to apply to SK Innovation, I looked at the job postings and came to the conclusion that I needed to learn more languages. SK Innovation is a leader in the energy sector with world-class technology, and I felt that it was a company that placed a lot of importance on language skills in order to develop technology and export and import products. So, I started attending English classes after work in the evenings. I obtained TOEIC and TOEFL scores, and after enjoying my speaking classes, I attended Chinese classes and obtained a Chinese language proficiency certificate. My level is still low, so I am working hard to advance to a higher level and become fluent in Chinese.
Motivation for applying and aspirations
“I want to grow together and embrace the world.”
SK Innovation is a company that continues to evolve. It strives to develop new energy technologies and does not shy away from bold research in pursuit of innovation. Even though it is already the leader in its industry, it is not satisfied and continues to strive for further development. I deeply respect your company’s innovation and sustainability. That is why I decided to apply for a position at your company.
I heard that your company is looking for people who can help it advance into the global market. I am the right person for the job. I am diligent and calm. I wake up early, prepare thoroughly, and make sure that I never fail once I start something. I will constantly prepare myself so that I can play a major role in pioneering new markets. I will also remain calm in the face of challenges. I will not be someone who likes one thing and cries over two, but someone who stands firm, remains steadfast in any situation, and does my best. If you give me your trust, I will prove myself with my abilities. Thank you very much.
