How to write a sales self-introduction letter to increase your chances of getting hired?

In this blog post, we will summarize the key elements that must be included in a sales self-introduction letter and provide tips on how to write one.

Growth

“My clock that runs 15 minutes fast”
My parents raised three sons well. As I grew up, the thing I am most grateful to my mother for is related to “clocks.” The clock in my room was always set 15 minutes ahead. I used to sleep a lot, and I was always late for school because of it. My mother took special measures and solved my tardiness problem simply by setting the clock in my room 15 minutes ahead. Setting the clock 15 minutes ahead may not seem like a big deal, but it instilled a strong sense of discipline in me. When I see the second hand approaching the hour, I quickly get moving and hurry to get ready. Then, even if I leave at the time I would normally be late, I arrive on time or even a little early. When I was young, I didn’t like my mother for doing that, and I would complain because I wanted to sleep longer, but now I know that it is important to develop such habits. That’s why my wristwatch is still set 15 minutes ahead. So, I don’t arrive at appointments right on time, but rather with a little extra time to spare, and by leaving 15 minutes earlier than everyone else, I can avoid rushing and have plenty of time to prepare. It was only 15 minutes, but my teacher praised me for the change in my habits during my school days and even made me class president. When I went to college, I would arrive at class 15 minutes early to get myself organized and listen to the lecture with greater concentration from a good seat. Thanks to my mother’s good habits, I have become a person who keeps my promises and is trusted by others.

School days

“Finding what suits me.”
I originally majored in a field unrelated to sales. I majored in English literature because I liked English literature and thought that knowing English well would be beneficial in this day and age. After entering university, I met many people and participated in various activities, and I realized that sitting still and reading literature was not my calling. In fact, I was the type of person who couldn’t sit still. I also loved meeting people. I was definitely an introvert in high school, but when I went out and met people, I realized that I could come out of my shell and try new things when I was with others, and that collaborating with people created a greater synergy. So, I wondered what I could do that involved collaboration, and I looked for clubs to join. Then, by chance, I joined a marketing club. Through various activities with my lively friends and energetic younger siblings, I realized that sales was the right fit for me. The encouragement from those around me also gave me strength, and after graduating from college, I decided to apply for a position in the sales department at XX Company.

Special experience

“Holding a bazaar.”
The reason I was confident that sales was right for me was because of a bazaar I held as part of my volunteer work. It was an event to sell handkerchiefs embroidered by comfort women, as well as cell phone accessories, bags, and other items. Since the bazaar was organized mainly by young people, we had to raise the funds ourselves, so I went around looking for sponsors. My friends said that they found it embarrassing and difficult to ask for sponsorship, but I actually enjoyed it very much. I enjoyed visiting places around the university and cultural institutions, explaining the purpose of the event, and telling them what kind of people would be attending and how many people we expected to gather. I was the one who collected the most donations, four times more than the second place, which gave me more confidence. Selling at the event was also a good fit for me. I was usually quiet, but when I was working, I felt a strange energy coming from somewhere, and I was driven by a desire to sell more than other organizations and other places. In the end, the event was a success, and the place where I worked made the most profit. Since that day, I became more interested in sales and marketing, and I started to believe that I could do well in that field, so I began looking for a job in sales.

Strengths and weaknesses

“I like working with people.”
The greatest strength of my personality is that I like working with people. I enjoy working with others and acting together. That is why I believe I can demonstrate my abilities to the fullest when collaborating with others. I think the bazaar was a success because I worked with others. When you work with others, you can encourage each other. Also, setting goals together is more effective than setting them alone, as it makes it easier to achieve them and prevents you from giving up halfway. In addition, setting goals together stimulates competitiveness, making you more sincere, hardworking, and proactive than when working alone. That is why I think I am suited to organizational life and, furthermore, to collaborating with others in an organization.
The downside is that I don’t like working alone. Even when I’m preparing or studying, making sales appointments, or actually out on a sales call, I’m sometimes alone, and I worry that I might make a mistake or be inefficient. However, I don’t want to be the kind of person who makes mistakes, so even when I’m alone, I try to compensate for my weaknesses by making plans and carefully following through with them.

Reason for applying

“Sales is exactly what I’m suited for.”
○○ is Korea’s first total men’s clothing store. When other companies were focusing on the general public and women, ○○ started as a brand with the slogan “Korea’s first specialty store for shirts and ties,” and has become a leading company that everyone thinks of when they think of men’s clothing. I have always admired your company’s spirit of challenge and differentiation, and I am proud of your products as if they were my own. That is why I wanted to work in sales at your company.
If you respect the product and take pride in it, you will be able to conduct more effective and efficient sales. This is because when you have confidence in your product, you can meet people and negotiate with them more confidently, and you can sell to individuals. I have already researched Company XX, and I believe that their products are the best. If I am hired by your company, based on this loyalty, I will, first, take proactive action. I will not sit still, but will prepare myself and go out and be an active salesperson. Second, I will enjoy working with people and become someone who improves the atmosphere of the team. With my people-oriented personality, I will strive to make my work life more enjoyable by supporting my seniors. Third, I believe that preparation is the key to success, so I will become a smart salesperson who prepares thoroughly and sells with determination. I will study fashion to the point where I can offer coordination suggestions, and based on that knowledge, I will become an employee who can coordinate outfits and win the hearts of customers. Thank you very much.
