Textile Trade Self-Introduction Letter: What Experience Should You Emphasize?

In this blog post, we will provide tips on how to write a self-introduction letter that effectively highlights your major, language skills, and work experience when applying for a position in the textile trade field.

Growth

“Be the best at what you do.”
My father, who runs an eyeglass store, always told me to “be the best at what you do.” I learned that it doesn’t matter whether you do work that is recognized by others or work in a position that doesn’t stand out. My father didn’t have a prestigious job, but he was a professional who always took pride in being the best at what he did.
He didn’t spend much time at home, working at least 12 hours a day at his shop. The shop closed at 9 p.m., but if regular customers requested an appointment in advance, he would make time for them even after closing time and wait for them to arrive. He showed me how to do my best and work honestly without neglecting even the smallest details of his work, so I decided that when I grew up, I would become a professional who loves my work just like my father.
As a child, I was good at drawing and often won prizes in art contests. I had never taken art lessons, but I was often praised by my teachers in art class for my sense of color and perspective. However, I didn’t have any particular aspirations for the future. I never dreamed of becoming a painter, nor did I ever want to have a common job such as a scientist or an entertainer.
So, when I was growing up, I envied my friends who had clear dreams. I envied them for having something they wanted to do, even if it was a pipe dream like becoming an entertainer. Many of my friends were similar to me.
When I became a high school student, I was finally able to free myself from the anxiety and emptiness that came from not having any dreams. My high school Korean language teacher, who was like a father to me, told me, “There’s no need to be impatient because you don’t have a dream. It’s okay to live your life while always trying to listen to your heart and find what you want to do.”
Those words were very comforting, and I decided that whatever I did in the future, I would be the best at it, just like my father said.

Personality

“I fulfill my responsibilities neatly!”
Once I decide to do something, I never give up until I finish it. I try to overcome difficulties and complete what I start, and I don’t easily panic when unexpected changes occur. I always remember my parents’ advice to be the best at what I do, so I always did my best to be the best in school and in sports.
I am very organized. I believe it is important to keep my surroundings tidy and maintain a neat appearance. It is difficult to change one’s natural physique or facial features (unless you spend a lot of money), but you can make a good impression on people with just your own efforts and sense of style without spending a lot of money, so I always take care to look my best.
If I had to point out a weakness, it would be that I am sometimes considered talkative. When I was in school, the girls liked to talk to me because they said I was easy to talk to, but some of my male friends sometimes pointed out that I was talkative. Although people’s opinions vary, I think that if people feel that I am talkative, it could be considered a weakness, so I often check myself when interacting with others. I developed the habit of always being aware of my surroundings and checking first to see if I am disturbing others. Now, I have overcome this weakness and have no problems with interpersonal relationships.

College Life

“Honing my theoretical knowledge and language skills.”
While majoring in international logistics, I became interested in subjects such as logistics management and freight transportation, and in addition to my departmental studies, I also worked hard to learn computer programs so that I could become proficient in computer OA programs.
I believed that English skills were also important for international trade and logistics, so I took time to study not only TOEIC but also conversation and business English. Communication skills are essential in social life, so I paid particular attention to language studies.
Korea trades not only with English-speaking countries but also with China and Japan, so I thought that being able to speak the languages of those countries would definitely be a plus in trade, and I invested time in studying a second foreign language.
In addition to my grades and language skills, the most important things for me during my college life were volunteering and donating my talents. My goal was not to set a specific day to volunteer, get a certificate, and add it to my resume. I believe that being able to help others with what I can do is one of the greatest joys in life.

Extracurricular Activities

“The joy of delivering briquettes”
I started sponsoring a group called the ○○ Sharing Movement quite a long time ago. Living in an apartment, I didn’t know that there were still people who used briquettes for heating, but once I learned about this group, I began sponsoring them regularly. I decided to continue sponsoring them until there were no more families in need of briquettes, and after entering university, I didn’t stop at financial support, but also participated in volunteer activities through the group whenever I had the opportunity.
At the end of December, I always participated in volunteer work to help elderly people living alone get through the winter. After doing it once, I could clearly remember the faces of the elderly people who were so happy to see the black briquettes, so every December, I would make a schedule and encourage my friends to participate with me. When I saw the elderly people who came out despite their discomfort and thanked us, the sweat I shed in the cold weather was nothing.
It is a steep mountain neighborhood, so carrying the briquettes on our backs or passing them from hand to hand in a long line for hours on end makes my back ache, but when I see the briquettes neatly stacked at the homes of the elderly, I feel that I am the happiest person alive, so I cannot miss this activity every year.

Motivation for applying and aspirations

“I will demonstrate my ability to perform my duties reliably!”
While I was in college, I had the opportunity to meet seniors who had entered the workforce through my department’s academic society. I listened to advice from seniors who were working at trading companies, commercial firms, and forwarding companies in fields related to my major, and I made extensive preparations to become the kind of person that companies need.
When I join ○○ Korea, I will work diligently on every task, no matter how small or large, and learn everything I don’t know so that I can quickly adapt to my work. I will prepare in advance to familiarize myself with unfamiliar terms and to be able to complete shipping documents on my own. I will strive to improve myself and become a competent employee who works efficiently and productively in harmony with my colleagues.
