How can you incorporate planning and management skills and IT solutions into your self-introduction letter?

In this blog post, we will introduce how to effectively include the planning and management skills required for IT solution jobs in your self-introduction letter based on problem-solving-oriented practical experience.

Growth

“Awakening the spirit of cooperation through volunteer work.”
I did a lot of volunteer work since I was a child, following my father, who considered volunteering a part of everyday life. My father is literally a self-made man. When he was young, he was kicked out of his home without a penny to his name and became an orphan. He came to Seoul and sold newspapers, enduring all kinds of hardship, but eventually he was able to open his own store, and now he is a successful business owner with three stores. Even though he is very busy, my father never fails to volunteer. He says that he has no way to repay the people who helped him when he was in need, so he must give back to society through volunteer work. Following in my father’s footsteps, I learned the spirit of cooperation through volunteer work. The most difficult but also the most enjoyable volunteer work I did was dyeing the hair of elderly women. As a boy, my hands were rough, and it was difficult to deal with the honest and unpredictable personalities of the elderly women. One of the elderly women I was assigned to refused to let me into her house, which was very difficult for me. I was very embarrassed, but my friends joined me, and we cooked food together and visited the elderly woman’s house. The other elderly women in the neighborhood also helped persuade her, and she finally opened her heart and let us in. When we entered, we found that she could not use one of her legs. The people who helped me at that time, and seeing the grandmother’s situation, made me realize that people live together and that each person has their own circumstances, which allowed me to think more broadly.

Strengths and weaknesses

“I am a planner, and survival of the fittest!”
The strengths of my personality are my planning skills and my habit of writing things down. I am the type of person who focuses on one thing at a time. I used to spend my entire summer vacation playing video games, which left me feeling empty, but that experience made me realize that I really enjoy setting goals and achieving them. That personality trait is good for achieving a single goal, but it can be difficult when it comes to achieving multiple goals. That’s why I always make plans and try to follow them. That way, even if I’m focused on one thing, I can quickly shift my focus to the next thing because I have a plan. I think that’s how I was able to master English and Japanese and participate in club activities without hindering my studies. Another strength is my habit of writing things down. In today’s world, where survival of the fittest is the norm, I believe that people who take meticulous notes are the ones who succeed. Especially since I decided to pursue a career in IT solutions, I have been taking very thorough notes in my business administration and economics classes. I believe that taking thorough notes allows me to acquire and retain more knowledge.
As I mentioned above, my weakness is that I find it difficult to switch gears because I tend to focus on one thing. However, I am working to turn this weakness into a strength by making plans and communicating and cooperating with others, which are strengths of mine.

Core Competencies

“Analytical and management skills”
When I was in college, I decided that I would not ask my father for any allowance, even though he paid my tuition. So, I worked various part-time jobs to earn money for living expenses. The most memorable part-time job I had was working at a convenience store that was going out of business. It was a privately-owned convenience store that was struggling to stay afloat due to competition from various franchise stores. When I started working there, instead of quickly giving up because I thought the store would go out of business, I analyzed its weaknesses as a business student and worked hard to fix them. First of all, the store was very dirty, the products were scattered around, the employees were unfriendly, and the prices were higher than other convenience stores. I made suggestions to the owner to eliminate these shortcomings, but he had already given up on the store and didn’t seem particularly interested in making any changes. So, I decided that I had to take action. After getting permission, I started cleaning the store one corner at a time. When I couldn’t get the stains out, I mixed bleach and scrubbed them away. Then, I slowly took inventory of the store, rearranged the displays, and started removing expired products. I also suggested to the owner that we bundle items that could be sold together and create package deals. As a result, the store changed dramatically during the year I worked there, and based on those changes, the number of customers increased. I don’t know the exact sales figures, but judging from the rapid turnover, I think the number of customers increased about eightfold.
As you can see, I have a strong desire to analyze and manage things. I didn’t just work as a part-time employee, but worked diligently with the mindset that I was the owner.

Career philosophy

“I am doing the most important job in the world.”
I have always worked with the belief that I am doing the most important job in the world. As I mentioned above, this was also true when I was working part-time. However, the situation above was still relatively good, and in reality, when I worked part-time, I was often taken advantage of and discarded if I worked too hard. There were several times when I lamented my situation, feeling that I was being used and discarded. So I decided that if I was born with the ability to work hard, I should work somewhere where it didn’t matter how hard I worked and where I could create more synergy. That’s when I discovered IT solutions. I realized that identifying problems in the IT industry, which is emerging as the most important business in South Korea, determining how to effectively combine and provide solutions, and improving corporate performance by solving those problems is what I am meant to do and what I believe to be the most important job in the world. If I am given the opportunity to work in this field, I will become a person who learns diligently and works hard with strong self-confidence and a sense of responsibility.

Aspirations after joining the company

“I am just starting out, but that is why I am so passionate.”
I am definitely a newcomer. I don’t have much experience, and all I have is my knowledge and a few part-time jobs. However, I am passionate about what I do. This is the job I want to do, and I have constantly trained myself because I believe I can do it. I subscribe to five newspapers to keep up with trends in the IT industry, and I always make scrapbooks. When I encounter a new field, I stay up all night to research it until I understand it before I go to sleep. I am constantly studying so that I will not be prejudiced as someone who only knows about management. As I am just starting out, I certainly lack know-how, but I believe that I am passionate about my work. If I am accepted into your company, I will work diligently with this passion to learn and work hard so that in a year’s time, you will feel that I am the person you need in this position. I look forward to working with you.
