Your unique strengths and weaknesses

“I am not afraid.”
There is a character named “Mick” in my favorite novel. She is the youngest girl among the characters in the novel “The Good Earth” by Carson McCullers. Mick is a little girl who is always humming songs and constantly fantasizing about what kind of person she will become. She is a strong-willed girl who believes that it is foolish to stay inside because someone might grab her and do something bad to her, and that if someone tries to block her path, she will punch them and keep walking. I have a similar personality to Mick. People often tell me that I am not afraid of anything, even though I am a girl. Personally, I think that society is very considerate of girls, so I don’t think I need to worry about being a girl. That’s why I try to challenge myself to do anything while I am still young.
Once, I went to my American friends’ house to do teamwork and ended up doing my homework with them. At the time, my school had a negative view of students from the United States, especially those from the southern states. This was because some of them had been caught using drugs, and there had been violent incidents that caused a commotion at school. There was a group of students who caused trouble frequently, and people took it for granted that they would not participate in teamwork or study together. However, I thought it would be good to get along while studying together, that we needed opportunities to understand each other’s thoughts, and above all, that we had to work on our assignments together, so I kept contacting them. At first, they ignored me, but when they saw that I was showing them trust and genuinely trying to connect with them, they opened up to me. They even invited me to their homes. All my other friends told me not to go because they were scared, but I accepted the invitation, did the team assignment with them, and now we are close friends. That experience taught me that if you are sincere, you can communicate with anyone. I always liked working with others, but this experience helped me become close with my American friends and gave me even more confidence in my ability to collaborate with others. I believe that I can become close with anyone and open my heart to them because I am ready to accept anyone. I think this is a good quality to have in group life and to become a Kia employee who must constantly take on new challenges.
“You have to learn about life.”
My biggest weakness is that I have to learn. Not long ago, I had a dream-like experience when a younger friend of mine died of cardiac arrest at a ski resort. At that time, I realized that life is not just about taking on challenges, but also about learning many things, and that there is so much I don’t know. At that moment, I realized that I had to learn about life. I am still young and inexperienced, so I want to learn as much as I can by joining Kia, meeting my seniors, working, and observing my superiors. I want to live a more fulfilling and active life. In particular, I believe that what can be learned through experience is more valuable than what can be learned through study, so I want to learn human aspects such as understanding people, living life, and building relationships.

Experience related to the ideal candidate profile (creativity, communication, challenge)

“A crisis is an opportunity, and opportunities should not be missed.”
I had a great opportunity to go abroad and do volunteer work. At the time, we went to a mountain village in China with the goal of building a library and holding cultural events. We spent a lot of time preparing for the trip. However, due to an accident in which the speakers we brought with us fell into the water, we were unable to perform the mask dance, which was the biggest event we had planned. We thought that mask dance would be a point of contact between Chinese and Korean cultures, and that through it, we would be able to exchange our cultures and learn about their similarities and differences. However, without music, we didn’t know how to dance the Talchum, and without the speakers, which were essential for the event, it was difficult to gather people and convey our message. Everyone was at a loss, but I came up with an idea. I suggested that we teach them songs. At the time, we had a janggu (a Korean drum), so we decided to use it to teach them songs. At first, the staff members were skeptical, but they agreed with my idea, and I ended up starting to teach our songs. At first, the young children were confused and awkward, but they gradually gathered around us as we sang, and eventually, they all learned the songs and danced to them. As a result, we were able to achieve even better results than before. First of all, learning songs together helped us to bond with each other. In a sense, simply building houses and performing mask dances is nothing more than a visual spectacle. However, singing together, helping each other with the melodies, and singing in harmony allowed us to truly cooperate and bond with each other. In addition, while teaching and learning songs, we were able to communicate with each other through our hearts even though we couldn’t speak the same language, and the elderly people who used to see us as a nuisance began to give us gifts of local specialties and snacks, and we were able to communicate with them sincerely. Singing and dancing together made the event even more enjoyable. It turned out to be a much bigger and happier event than we had expected.
At that moment, I realized that a crisis is an opportunity. I didn’t just understand it intellectually, but truly felt it. All we needed was the ability to turn the crisis into an opportunity. If I had kept this idea to myself and hadn’t actively promoted it, the project would have fizzled out, and we would have had to return home with a feeling of disappointment. Also, if I had gotten angry or upset at those who opposed my idea, instead of actively explaining it and sharing it with them, I would not have known that someone had brought a janggu, or that someone knew how to play it. In the end, it was my ability to express my ideas, explain them to others, and take action that allowed me to seize this opportunity.
Kia Motors is a leading company that is always in the news. It is a company that has grown steadily and achieved incredible results. To work there, you need creativity to turn crises into opportunities, a spirit of challenge, and the ability to communicate. I can’t say that I am fully prepared to become a Kia employee, but I would like to say that I am someone who is ready and willing to prepare. I am capable and ready to take on the challenge. Thank you very much.
