How to effectively describe your previous experience in a cover letter for a banking career?

In this blog post, we will introduce how to write a cover letter that describes your previous experience in a concrete and convincing manner for banking career applicants.

Growth

As a child, I was always sincere and straightforward when making new friends. Due to my parents’ job, I had to move around a lot, so I often had to make friends in new places, but I never tried to get ahead by lying or pretending to be someone I wasn’t. Even children who kept their distance due to prejudices based on my somewhat cold appearance gradually tried to get closer to me when they saw my cheerful personality, so I was able to show my ability to make friends in a fair and honest way, without resorting to superficial efforts or insincere pretense.
It was also a good experience that the friends I made during that time remained close to me even after many years had passed and supported me. This was because I did not consider them as friends I would only spend a short time with before parting ways, but always tried to make lifelong friends in any situation or place, and this attitude bore rich fruit. Perhaps my enthusiasm rubbed off on the other children, because even though I made an effort to keep in touch and send letters regularly, most of them responded favorably, and I was able to maintain a rich circle of friends. My younger sibling, who was in the same situation as me and had no choice but to move around a lot and make friends, envied me, saying, “How can you make so many friends?”

School life

Instead of staying in one place, I had to move around a lot due to my parents’ business, and I often had to adapt to new changes, so it was a somewhat confusing time. Even in a small country like Japan, children’s preferences and trends often differed slightly from one another. There were also differences in the pace of learning between schools, and I needed to be proactive in quickly understanding and absorbing the interests of my new classmates in order to fit in, so I was always busy running around here and there. Whenever my father’s business entered a new phase, we had to move again, but because time was limited, I was determined to do my best in the present moment.
My younger brother, who was somewhat resigned and unmotivated because he knew that no matter how hard he tried to make friends, he would soon have to leave, had a very different reaction. I also wanted to stay in one place and build a childhood with my friends, but I knew that it was useless to try to change the course of my life, which was not meant to be that way, so I decided to make a change in my thinking and use the reality I was given in a more positive way to enrich my life. Therefore, no matter what neighborhood I moved to, I tried hard to make my presence known and get along with my friends, hoping that even if I left, there would be at least one person who would remember and miss me. That was the best I could do in my life, which was like a floating weed, drifting here and there.

Personality

I am the type of person who always does my best and is careful not to slack off even for a moment. When we concentrate on something for a long time, we tend to take short breaks for granted and respond somewhat carelessly, but I know that how we use even those short moments can make a big difference between people. Even if we exclude geniuses, who are born with different abilities, there are limits to what people can do when they try their best, so I believe that the decisive difference between people lies in their ability to use the moments when others are careless and not giving their all as opportunities for self-improvement.
This has been the stepping stone that has allowed me to stand out among ordinary people and achieve extraordinary growth. Just as a difference of 0.1 seconds can be the difference between victory and defeat among runners with equal abilities, my ability to achieve consistent victories has also come from my unwavering concentration.

Life philosophy

I believe that only a sincere attitude of always doing one’s best can touch the hearts of others. We often say that in order to live our lives, we need to be somewhat calculating, distribute our energy wisely, and respond to our work with a cool head, but in order to go beyond evaluations such as “not bad” or “okay” and receive evaluations such as “well done” or “excellent,” we need passion that goes beyond that. Not many people will give high marks to employees who are content to remain in their current position and follow the manual, rather than striving to improve the situation and enhance the quality of service.
Just as new doors will not open for those who choose to maintain the status quo without any desire to break out of their situation, we must show enthusiasm and take the initiative to improve our work in order to avoid being forced down the path of decline by remaining stuck in the present. This is not necessarily recommended in all work situations, but I believe it is an essential quality for becoming a better employee.

Reasons for applying and aspirations after joining the company

As a child, I lived in many neighborhoods and moved around a lot, but I was able to make many long-time friends and enjoy rich relationships because I never tried to hide who I was or say things I didn’t mean to anyone, and I always tried to be honest and open with others so that we could all feel comfortable with each other. In this way, I have strived to avoid putting up barriers between people or creating distance that could deepen feelings of alienation. Instead, I have worked hard to establish trust through a sincere and straightforward attitude so that we can become closer, which has enabled me to build smooth relationships with others.
This is in line with your company’s emphasis on providing sincere service to your customers in order to break down barriers and build closer relationships, which is why I decided to apply for this position. If I am accepted at your company, I will strive to provide customized services to all customers by utilizing my ability to respond flexibly to various situations, which I have developed through my rich interpersonal relationships and experience dealing with people of diverse personalities and characters.
