How to Write a Persuasive Sales Cover Letter

In this blog post, we’ll share strategies for sales candidates to write a persuasive cover letter that builds on their strengths and experience.

Growing up

I loved to get together with my friends and tell stories. The topics were varied, covering everything from issues in the news and newspapers to personal gossip. This personality trait led me to serve as class president and student council president in both elementary and high school. I attribute this trait to my mother, who was a neighborhood captain and enjoyed inviting neighbors to our home, and I grew up watching her and the neighborhood ladies share stories about what was happening in the neighborhood. I admired how she worked with the neighborhood ladies to promote the ‘Sharing Kimchi with Love’ service, and I think I thought a lot about how I should be like her, not only to build friendships with the neighbors, but also to lead volunteer activities for the surrounding area. So, when I served as class president and student council president, I set a goal and worked with my friends to realize it during my term. In particular, I remember my efforts to revitalize festivals in high school. The festivals in my high school were very small. After I was elected student council president, I wrote a proposal to revitalize the festival and presented it to the principal, arguing that festivals could help students relieve stress and improve their motivation to learn. The proposal was not accepted, so I worked with student council officers to research and analyze festivals in surrounding high schools. Through these efforts, we were able to make the festival different from previous years, and the students’ response was enthusiastic. I believe this growth process taught me how to communicate my opinions to others and shaped my qualities as a leader.

During my academic career, I majored in psychology at

and became particularly interested in consumer psychology. Many of my consumer psychology classes included business students. I fell in love with business administration while working on assignments with my business major friends. I realized that the field of marketing has a lot to do with consumer psychology, and I read a lot of books on the subject.
In addition to my academic work, I also actively participated in school events, and during festivals, I sold donated goods to my friends on campus and donated the income to the underprivileged. I worked on promotional activities from early in the morning until the end of the school day, and I was able to get a lot of good products due to the unexpectedly hot response. This made me realize that the best sales is ‘active promotion’. This opened my eyes to management and marketing through my college life, and I realized that sales is what I am good at and what I want to do.

Personality Strengths

I am a vivacious storyteller. People tell me that I’m good at getting to the point of a story and that I’m a good communicator. When I was younger, I thought I liked to talk, but as I grew up, I found myself talking to get in front of others. I think it’s because I like to be the center of attention. I knew that I had to be communicative to get others to listen to me, and I knew it had to be something they could relate to, so I practiced a lot summarizing long texts and even talking to myself in the mirror when I was alone at home. Perhaps as a result of this practice, I was well received by others.

Work-related experience

After graduating from college, I joined ○○ Automobile and worked as a salesperson. I spent a lot of time analyzing all the models of ○○ Motors, because understanding the product is the key to explaining it well to others. I tried to identify not only the advantages, but also the disadvantages, and wrote a report on the results of my analysis. I identified the customer’s needs and recommended the most suitable car among the cars I analyzed, and I carefully organized and presented the reasons for my recommendation to the customer. As a result, I became the person who sold the most cars within two and a half years of joining the company. I believe that having a sense of mission in my work and reaching out to customers with sincerity was the basis for my best performance.

Motivation and aspirations

In the information and credit society, I believe that ‘card’ has many meanings. From credit cards that serve the function of money to ID cards that contain one’s own information, I believe that the scope of card utilization in the modern society is endless. I would like to work for your company, which is at the forefront of this endless development. I am a person who does my job with passion, and I am a person who has a sense of mission and makes my best efforts to achieve the best performance. If you give me the opportunity to join your company’s development, I will build on the efforts I have made so far and further improve myself to become an indispensable talent for your company.
