In this blog post, we will introduce how to strategically interpret your everyday experiences and effectively incorporate them into your cover letter when applying for a marketing job.

Growth

My father runs a food factory. Although it is a subsidiary of a well-known company in the food industry, my father always strives to ensure the well-being of his employees and the highest quality of his products. Perhaps that is the secret to my father’s success in running the factory for so many years. My father always emphasized to me the importance of maintaining a consistent attitude. When I was in elementary school, my father told me that I needed to study hard because knowledge is power. So I often asked him to buy me things I wanted if I got good grades in class. Later, I even ranked first in my class, and my father bought me a new bag, which was my favorite. At that time, I thought that I didn’t need to study anymore. So I played every day. One day, my father asked me why I wasn’t studying, and I told him that I could always improve my grades, so he shouldn’t worry. At that moment, my father became very angry and scolded me, asking why I didn’t have the determination to study. I had never seen my father so angry before. So I just cried, but later my mother told me that my father wanted me to study consistently without changing my mind. So I asked my mother why I had to study consistently when I could study whenever I wanted and get the grades I wanted. Later, my mother told me to let my father scold me because it would help me learn my lesson. After that, I didn’t study out of spite. My grades continued to drop, and I was at the bottom of the class, so I vowed to show everyone that I could be number one again. When I entered sixth grade, I decided that I had to improve my grades. I ranked 20th in my first midterm exam. I wasn’t satisfied, but I was determined to rank first in the final exam. However, I ranked 15th in the final exam. And in the last exam of sixth grade, I ranked 10th. In the end, I didn’t get first place. I felt so unfair. I worked so hard, but I was tormented by why I couldn’t get first place. When I entered middle school, I worked hard to get first place. However, my first grade was 20th. I finally got the first place I wanted in my first exam in the third year of middle school, but it took me three years to get back to first place. And I lost all desire to start from the bottom again like before. All I wanted was to do my best to maintain my grades. And then I understood what my father had said. He said that people’s hearts can change and that it is not always easy to maintain that heart. Since then, I have always tried to live my life with determination.

School days

In my school days, junior high school was a time for me to catch up on my studies, while high school was a time to gain a wide range of experiences. Even in high school, I realized that it was not easy to maintain good grades, so I always studied hard. I wanted to make up for the time I had lost by having various experiences. So, I went jogging every morning and participated in marathon competitions every year. I also participated in volunteer activities at places such as daycare centers and nursing homes. Of course, I didn’t participate in volunteer activities and other activities to have fun, but because I thought it would heal my heart. I didn’t think I was helping them, but rather that spending time with them was healing my heart. I also tried delivering milk early in the morning and worked part-time at a gas station and convenience store after entering university. Studying wasn’t everything to me, and I learned how to become one with others by meeting different people and working together.

Strengths and weaknesses

The strength of my personality is that I always remain consistent. This is something I learned from my father, and it is also my most important belief in life. When I was working at a convenience store during college, I worked for a boss who considered cleanliness to be of utmost importance. I worked for a boss who valued cleanliness above all else. So I always tried to keep the floor and display shelves clean and make sure the ramen soup containers and trash cans were not dirty. After I had been working there for about three months, my boss decided to open another convenience store and hired another employee. I continued to work there, and my boss was often away because he was busy. However, that employee did not do the cleaning I asked him to do. We divided the work between us, and I checked the inventory and did other tasks, but if that employee did not do the cleaning, work would not proceed smoothly. So, I reprimanded him. In response, the employee said that it didn’t matter whether they cleaned once an hour or once every two hours, and that we shouldn’t work so hard. I told the employee that it was important to have a consistent attitude when working, and that I would never do that. This caused a rift between the employee and me, and eventually the employee quit, telling the boss that I was making it impossible for them to work. I felt wronged, but my boss understood my feelings. This was because I ran the convenience store the same way as before, and the results were the same. My boss said that he knew that the employee never cleaned when I was not there. Therefore, I believe that it is important to always maintain the same attitude, regardless of whether anyone is watching.

Reason for applying and aspirations

I applied to your company because I wanted to work with my father in his field and, through my own efforts, eventually run my own company. I know from watching my father how difficult it is to maintain consistency. However, I want to show that it is possible.
If I join your company, I want to show you that I am someone who can maintain a consistent attitude.
