In this blog post, we will introduce how to include your experiences in acquiring the practical skills and accounting knowledge necessary for production management in your self-introduction letter in a concrete and reliable manner.
Background
“You have to set higher goals to achieve them.”
When I was in school, I had a clear goal of going to a technical college. I wanted to graduate with a degree in food engineering and find a job as a nutritionist. I attended a commercial high school, which was related to my field of study, so I thought my goal would remain unchanged. However, my thoughts began to change little by little. My high school career counselor gave me some new advice. He said that people can grow more when they set goals that are higher than what they are capable of achieving. I took his words to heart and realized that I needed to set higher goals in order to become a better person. I had originally decided to go to a technical college, but I changed my goal to a four-year university and decided to major in manufacturing processes in the food industry instead of food engineering.
In fact, in order to major in industrial engineering, I had to become an engineering student, so I had to prepare for entrance exams in the industrial field instead of the commercial field. Of course, the school itself provided courses to study for this field. However, I had to be prepared to study a new major in addition to what I had been studying, so I took on this new challenge with determination. In the end, I studied for an additional year and was admitted to the school of my choice, where I was able to major in industrial engineering and study production processes as I had hoped. I was particularly interested in the food industry and manufacturing, so I always kept this goal in mind while completing my major. When I was completing a four-year program, which required two years more than a technical college, I set a higher goal for myself rather than just a reasonable one. By studying with the goal of joining a company that was above my current abilities, I was able to join the company I wanted and build a meaningful career.
Strengths and weaknesses of my personality
“I approach everything with a relaxed attitude.”
I am a slow talker, slow mover, and my facial expressions don’t change much. I always remain calm, walk slowly, and think things through, so people around me often say that I seem relaxed. I am actually a relaxed person, and I tend to do everything slowly and calmly. I think I take after my parents in this respect. Both of my parents are serious people who always take a cautious approach to things. They advised me to take a step back and think things through rather than reacting emotionally. As a result, I have always been a student who thinks before I act and observes before I act, rather than rushing into things.
My relaxed personality can also be seen as optimistic. I don’t think I’m impatient or greedy, so I think people see me as optimistic. And because I’m not greedy, I don’t force my desires on others, and I always prefer to take things slowly, one step at a time, to achieve my goals. Even when eating, I don’t rush or prefer spicy food, but rather chew slowly and savor the flavors. I try to eat meals that are easy on my stomach and take my time eating. I think this aspect of my personality is very clear. That’s why my close friends jokingly say that I’m like a cow, and I think my relaxed and slow nature is one of my strengths, as it allows me to keep a calm mind and make fewer mistakes at work.
Hobbies and special skills
“Eating three meals a day”
My regular hobby is preparing my daily meals. When I am busy with outside activities, I often skip breakfast and eat whatever comes to mind for lunch. Then, I tend to eat a heavy, greasy dinner, which causes me to gain weight and makes it difficult to maintain a healthy diet. To solve this problem, I try to pay extra attention to my diet when I am busy with outside activities. I try to eat three meals a day without fail, and instead of just eating whatever I want, I plan my meals for the day the day before. I usually make adjustments the day before, but I’ve gotten into the habit of planning my meals for the week on Sundays. I make a plan for what I’m going to eat for the week and buy the ingredients I need at the supermarket.
Then, when the week starts, I cook according to my plan, starting with Monday, and eat the meals I’ve prepared. I usually eat breakfast and dinner at home, but for lunch, I often eat out or bring my own lunch. In such cases, I try to pack a lunch box according to the menu I have decided on, and if that is not possible, I go to a place that offers a wide variety of food so that I can socialize with other people while eating the food I have decided on. When choosing food outside, I try to avoid greasy or spicy foods, foods with a lot of seasonings, and highly processed foods as much as possible. I also try to avoid fried foods, foods that are heavily seasoned, and foods with a lot of spices, and I try to manage my diet according to my plan. In this way, my hobby is to take care of my diet, my health, and my plans by eating three meals a day.
School days
“Take your time and do things slowly.”
When I was majoring in industrial engineering in college, I often found myself in a highly competitive situation. Due to the nature of my major, there was no shortage of jobs, but many of my classmates had similar career goals, which made the competition fierce. At the time, there were about 40 students in my department, and we often competed with each other for grades and job information. I was also part of that organization and often found myself caught up in the competition, but I always tried to take my time and maintain my own pace. No matter how much we competed with each other, I believed that the real competition was not against each other, but against the company’s HR personnel. I thought it was more important to obtain information from people who were familiar with the direction the company was pursuing, so I tried to find out the key points and acquire the right skills.
For example, I didn’t think that high grades would necessarily lead to employment, nor did I think that external experience or awards were everything. In fact, when I looked at the employment status of other students, I found that their qualifications varied greatly. Therefore, in order to be recognized as the right person for the job I really wanted, I tried to acquire practical knowledge of production management, as well as building up my core qualifications. I focused on learning how to adapt to the organization, understanding the work, and acquiring the skills and qualities necessary to be a manager. I didn’t just focus on getting hired, but also considered my future growth and vision. As a result, I was able to start my career right after graduating from college, and after working in the production management team, I decided to apply to your company.
Motivation for applying and aspirations
“To become an indispensable member of the organization”
I majored in industrial engineering in college, but I wanted to go beyond my major and get some hands-on training. So, while I was in college, I got some practical training in production team work, and after finishing my basic training, I studied accounting and took the steps needed to work in the management team. The reason I did this was because I believed that survival in an organization depends not on your starting point, but on your ability to grow. I didn’t know how things would turn out at first, but I thought it would be meaningless if I couldn’t grow, so I took accounting classes and learned cost management and other tasks one by one. In this way, I quickly recognize what is necessary and essential, and strive to become an indispensable member of the organization. I will apply the skills I have acquired while working in the production management team to my work as a manager at your company, and I will perform my duties as an indispensable member of the team.
