In this blog post, we will look at what skills are essential for advertising and public relations beyond sensibility and how to include them in your self-introduction letter.
Growth
“Learning economic concepts and realizing the joy of giving.”
My parents encouraged me to be independent from an early age. They supported me in doing what I wanted to do, but also taught me to take responsibility for my choices. Even when I wanted something, they never gave in to my demands.
My parents were very thrifty, saving diligently to buy an apartment after starting out in a rented place, and they never wasted money. I received an allowance from my parents since I was a child, and it was more generous than what my friends received. However, even though it was generous, if I spent it all, I wouldn’t be able to buy things I needed for school, so I developed the habit of saving money from an early age. So, when I wanted something, I would always ask my parents for permission, and after they agreed, I would add my allowance to buy it.
No matter how much pocket money I saved up on my own, I always asked my parents for permission before spending it. My parents taught me strict financial values because they didn’t want me to grow up without understanding the value of money.
From junior high school, I was given extra allowance for doing household chores such as shining shoes, washing dishes, watering plants, and vacuuming. I was told that I could spend any money I earned outside of this monthly allowance as I wished, but I developed a habit of saving, so I ended up saving that money too.
My parents were not just stingy. My grandparents passed away early, so my father, who had lost both parents, would give gifts to the elderly at the local senior center on Parents’ Day. Rather than just doing something nice once a year, he increased the amount each year and gave gifts such as small appliances, such as electric fans, that were needed at the senior center. Last year, he gave them massage chairs.
Thanks to my parents’ education, which taught me the value of money and the habit of saving, I developed reasonable spending habits and learned the joy of giving to those in need with the money I saved.
Strengths and weaknesses
“Competitive and proactive”
I am independent and proactive. When something happens, rather than getting scared, I first try to find a way to solve it myself. Once I set a goal, I make a specific and realistic plan to achieve it and carry it out step by step. If there are any changes along the way, I immediately revise my plan to ensure that I achieve my ultimate goal. Thanks to this personality, I was always able to get good grades in college by producing the best results for my assignments.
I am meticulous and take responsibility for even the smallest tasks. I believe that sincerity and responsibility are fundamental to any job, so I strive to carry out my duties in a systematic manner. When I worked part-time, I checked the cleanliness of the store twice a day and checked the inventory of popular products whenever I had time to minimize any inconvenience to customers.
I am competitive and persistent. Once I set my mind to something, I never give up until I finish it. I am not very flexible, so I used to hate dance class in middle school and wanted to run away. However, I had to take a practical exam, so I practiced three or four times harder than my friends, even though I was less flexible than them. My midterm exam was so bad that my friends laughed out loud, but when I took the final practical exam, I got 18 out of 20 points, surprising my teacher and friends.
School Life
“Advertising and marketing in depth”
While majoring in media and public relations, my dream since my first year of college was to work in advertising. I was always fascinated by the skill of capturing people’s hearts in 15 seconds and storytelling.
There was an advertising club in my department, so I joined it without hesitation in my first year. The club mainly focused on practical advertising video production, and it had the capacity to run a separate advertising festival during the department’s academic festival. Through my club activities, I also tried my hand at a college advertising festival.
In particular, I took all the classes related to marketing strategy and online marketing to study strategies for excelling in advertising, which is the most commercial field. Recently, I have spent a lot of time researching various marketing methods to effectively utilize mobile media for advertising, as advertising media has diversified beyond simple broadcast advertising.
There was an event that I participated in every year during my college days. It was not a school event, but a 24-hour hunger experience event planned and operated by an international NPO. I participated in this event to experience firsthand how much hunger causes suffering, as I had been sponsoring overseas children since my first year of college. I thought that experience was very meaningful, so from the following year, it became a family event that my parents and I participated in together.
Reason for joining the company and aspirations
“ESTINA in the world”
While preparing to enter the workforce, I thought a lot about how to prepare myself perfectly. However, just as there are no perfect people, I don’t think there is such a thing as perfect preparation. Like many other job seekers, I prepared my computer and English skills. However, I believe that what is more important in the field of advertising and public relations is the drive and confidence to lead change without fear, as well as a sense of creativity.
Based on this foundation, I will promote J.ESTINA, the world’s most beautiful jewelry, through strategic thinking that takes marketing elements into consideration.
