What should you write in your cover letter if you want to develop security applications?

In this blog post, we will show you how to write a compelling cover letter for a development position even if you have no practical experience. Focus on collaboration, practical experience, and your personality strengths.

Growth

“Parents who are devoted to their family”
My father worked at a trading company and was very devoted to our family, even though he left early in the morning and worked late into the night. He felt sorry that he couldn’t spend much time with us, so he cherished every moment we had together, and I could feel his warm heart. That’s why I grew up feeling grateful to my father, without any complaints about his busy schedule.
My mother, who respected my father and took good care of our family when he was away, always emphasized the importance of being sincere and honest. Rather than forcing me to do anything, she taught me to be independent and responsible so that I could make my own decisions and act on them. Growing up with parents who taught me that family means helping and trusting each other when one is not around, I have a kind heart and am always willing to help others.
I have been playing tennis since I was a child. My father played tennis whenever he had time, even when he was busy, so I learned to play from him. We didn’t have much time to talk, but even during the short time we spent playing together, I could feel my father’s love and bond with him.

Strengths and weaknesses

“Challenging spirit and decisive work ethic”
I am competitive and have the determination to see things through to the end. There is a saying that if you don’t succeed, you gain experience. I am not afraid to take on new challenges because I believe that even failure is a valuable experience. Once I start something, I never give up until I finish it, and my friends and family often tell me that I am very sincere. Working hard often leads to the results I want.
I adhere to principles and act according to norms. I was always a role model at school and in the military. When I was a squad leader in the military, I always made thorough preparations for parades by carefully checking on my subordinates. As a result, no one was left behind, and I led my squad to complete the training without incident, earning praise from my superiors.
I am the type of person who feels comfortable only when I do important work myself or check it myself. Not only in my personal work, but also when working on team projects in college, I would always double-check the work of my teammates after they had completed their parts before combining them to complete the project. In the process, I was able to find small and large mistakes and correct them before submitting the final project. Because of this, my friends at school nicknamed me “hawk eyes” because I was so meticulous and accurate in my work.

School Life

“Learning about society through teamwork”
I majored in computer engineering at university. While taking classes in my major, I learned a wide range of specialized knowledge in all fields where computers are used, from the most basic computer structures to application programs. I took courses appropriate for each grade level, ranging from the operating principles of computers to software development and application, and nurtured my dream of becoming a developer.
The university courses were characterized by many opportunities to work on group projects rather than individual assignments. When working alone, you can put in as much effort and time as you need to satisfy yourself, but when working with others, it is important to coordinate with your teammates and work together. I always enjoyed spending time with my friends from elementary school through high school, but what I learned from working with others at university was that working together and completing a project as a team gives you a much greater sense of accomplishment than just having fun.
It was through these group projects that I realized that college life is not just about acquiring specialized knowledge, but also about learning the group life and communication skills necessary in society. The process of researching materials and preparing assignments together allowed me to develop good communication skills and social skills, and working together to produce a single result is the same as the workflow in society, so it was a good opportunity to learn in advance.
I ended up becoming the team leader, and I focused on gathering the opinions of my team members and creating assignments that reflected each of their personalities as much as possible. It was difficult to bring together friends who liked to be alone, but as we worked on the assignments, they gradually opened up and suggested better ways of doing things, and I was able to experience the joy of working together.
During the summer vacation, I applied for an internship to experience firsthand how the theories I learned at school are applied in the field. I learned how to install and operate Citrix and configure external and internal IP addresses through practical training, and gained practical experience while designing virtual servers.
I also participated in a mentoring project run by my department. With the help of my mentor, I was able to review and reflect on the specific roles I would play as a developer in a real company, as well as structural design and programming.

Reason for joining the company and aspirations

“I will become a developer responsible for security!”
Solasia has been leading the market in Korea and abroad based on its cutting-edge smart card and mobile security platform technologies, achieving steady growth. In the telecommunications sector, we have developed USIM, in the financial sector, we have developed financial COS to replace financial card IC chips, in the public sector, we have developed electronic ID cards, and in the mobile security sector, we have commercialized AP (telecommunications) chip-based security platforms in response to the need for enhanced security. Through continuous investment and research and development, we have become a global leader in each sector.
As a developer working for such a company, I am very proud and happy to have the opportunity to distribute the products I have developed not only in Korea but also around the world.
When I join Solasia, I want to become a developer who contributes to the further development of security applications (Trusted Applications) based on the Security Platform. I will be considerate of my colleagues and spare no time or effort for my own development. I will always keep my eyes and ears open for new information so that I can quickly grasp rapidly changing IT technologies, and I will work diligently to help Solasia grow strongly in the global market.
