In this blog post, we take a deep look at whether the new human race that will emerge from the development of biotechnology will be the evolved future of Homo sapiens, or the beginning of the end.
There is a saying that humans are the lords of creation. If you look up the word “spirit leader” in a dictionary, it is defined as a leader with mysterious power, and it is a word that refers to a person. In other words, it means that humans are superior to any other living thing. Some may argue that we dare to say that we are the most superior beings, but no one would say that animals other than humans have achieved the same level of civilization as humans. If you have seen a monkey that launched a spaceship or a rabbit that is proficient in calculus, please contact us. It is undeniable that humans are currently the smartest species on the planet. However, the day is not far off when a superior being will appear. Will aliens with higher intelligence than us invade the Earth? Instead of the invasion of E.T., the development of biotechnology will give rise to the existence of a superior new species of human. And thanks to the emergence of these superior beings, the end will come to Homo sapiens, including me writing this and you reading it. Will the new species that will fill the void left by Homo sapiens be able to use superpowers? And how will they appear? I will answer these questions one by one.
Unfortunately, the New Humans do not seem to be able to cast spells. However, they could be similar to the main character Superman in the movie “Superman.” Of course, this excludes his ability to fly. For example, they have superhuman physical abilities that exceed the limits of the current human race, such as the ability to easily block a falling plane with both arms or the highly developed visual ability to see objects hundreds of meters away. They also have intellectual abilities. Perhaps they have such outstanding intelligence that ten Einstein would not be enough. Can you imagine ten Einstein’s looking at the new humanity that understands and proves the general theory of relativity in the blink of an eye and looking disappointed? If any readers are disappointed that the end of the species Homo sapiens was brought about by the fact that they were only physically and intellectually superior, then there is no need to be. They may be lifelong romantics who only have eyes for one person. Not only are they intelligent and physically capable, but they are also emotionally capable of anything you can imagine.
But is it really possible to create such superior beings? As I mentioned earlier, isn’t this just a list of the things I imagine in my head? However, the foundation for giving new humans such superhuman abilities is already in place. Genetic engineers have succeeded in creating mice with greatly enhanced memory and learning ability. They have also isolated the genes responsible for the field mouse’s monogamy. So, it is possible to find the genes that hold the secret to the cheetah’s strong leg muscles, which can reach speeds of 100 km/h. If these genes are properly combined with human genes, isn’t it only a matter of time before we create a so-called “superhuman”? Not only that, scientists are still working to solve the problem of “eternal life.” This will allow the creation of so-called immortal superhumans. Biotechnology has been developing endlessly, giving us the ability to redefine the characteristics of living organisms through “intelligent design.” And this will continue to develop endlessly. The key to bringing Superman out of the movies and into reality lies in biotechnology, and the day when imagination becomes reality is just around the corner.
The new human race can be seen as “superhumans” who are far more capable in many ways than the current human race. However, although they are more capable, they are likely to look similar to us and their brains are unlikely to weigh much more than ours. That doesn’t mean that a global ice age will come and wipe out all of us Homo sapiens and superhumans will emerge a few years later. So why do we think the emergence of superhumans is the end of the Homo sapiens? The answer to “Why don’t we call these superhumans Homo sapiens?” is simply “Because they are so different.” Their intelligence and physical abilities are incomparably superior to ours. And if they find the secret to eternal life, become immortal, and become beings who can control their minds and emotions, and if the way we think now changes, we cannot call such “different” beings Homo sapiens.
So, will superhumans appear in the next few decades and bring about the end of the world for us? It may be possible based on the current pace of scientific and technological development, but answering whether it is socially feasible will require countless ethical debates and discussions. Animal testing will be inevitable if research on the creation of superhumans is to continue. However, animal rights activists strongly criticize and oppose animal testing, saying that animals will suffer. And human rights activists oppose the creation of cloned humans on the grounds of human dignity. In other words, there are still ethical barriers to using humans as the subject of intelligent design. However, if the day comes when our society can accept this, the creation of descendants far superior to us is only a matter of time.
The end of Homo sapiens does not mean that a meteorite will fall on Earth one day, and humanity will be destroyed in an instant, and new creatures with a new form will live there. We humans will no longer be a species called Homo sapiens, but a new “superhuman” species with far greater intelligence and physical abilities than Homo sapiens, and we will no longer be the same as the previous Homo sapiens. However, in fact, we cannot conclude that the birth of superhumans is 100% possible. Someday, we will have to overcome the great barriers of science and technology, and right now, we must overcome the opposition of society. And while some may imagine that the birth of perfect superhumans will allow us humans to become masters of the universe beyond the Earth, others may imagine the terrifying possibility that the birth of superhumans one day will enslave homo sapiens. It remains to be seen whether the emergence of this new species will serve as a stepping stone for the leap of our Homo sapiens, or whether a new class of “superhumans” will be created through human greed and unethical ideas. However, we hope that the birth of superhumans will not be a catastrophic end for our Homo sapiens, but a new biological beginning.
