In this blog post, we will introduce specific examples and effective methods for writing a self-introduction letter when applying for a job in purchasing, materials, or warehousing.
My success story
“Bibim Mandu ○ Sergeant, saving the warehouse.”
I served in the Air Force as a cook. While working as a cook, I occasionally encountered warehouse management and transportation issues. Sometimes, transportation problems would cause supplies to arrive late at the warehouse. Conversely, if the warehouse was not managed properly, various vegetables and food items would have to be thrown away. As I encountered these problems one by one, I realized the importance of warehouse management and transportation. So, I always thought a lot about how to manage the warehouse and the food ingredients stored in it.
Once, when the warehouse was full, the menu for the school lunch was gyoza. I thought that if we served only gyoza, we would have to throw away the vegetables in the warehouse. So, I chopped up the remaining vegetables, mixed them with gyoza and soy sauce, and served them as bibim gyoza. Fortunately, the bibimbap dumplings were a huge hit, and we were able to use up the vegetables in the warehouse and free up some space. We were able to use all the vegetables before they went bad. I used my ingenuity to come up with a new menu and distributed the meals, and later I heard that if we hadn’t used up the vegetables that day, we wouldn’t have been able to store the newly procured supplies in the warehouse due to lack of space. This experience made me realize once again the importance of warehouse management and transportation.
That experience motivated me to study logistics and transportation in earnest after I was discharged from the military. As a result, I obtained a Level 1 certificate in business English and a Level 2 certificate in distribution management, and I am currently studying to become a certificate in origin management. When I was studying logistics and transportation, I always felt that it was impossible to imagine a logistics company in South Korea without CJ GLS. As the first company in Korea to introduce the WMS system to the transportation industry, CJ GLS has always been my dream company. If my sociability, communication skills, and passion and knowledge of the logistics industry can serve as a stepping stone for CJ GLS, I believe that CJ GLS will become the best logistics company in Asia, one step ahead of the competition.
Extracurricular activities and achievements
“Teamwork in an organization is the value of that organization.”
During my first summer vacation after entering college, I worked at a glass factory to help my parents pay my tuition. It was a company called OO Glass Co., Ltd., which manufactured industrial glass and shipped it overseas. I woke up at 4 a.m. every day and rode in the back of a truck to work. It was physically demanding, but I was also excited to be doing something important.
My job was to vacuum pack 15 tons of glass and load it into the warehouse. The factory environment was very unfamiliar to me as it was my first job. Most of the work in the factory was done in teams, and if the team members didn’t work well together, there was so much work that we couldn’t finish the day’s quota. During my first week, I didn’t know what I was doing, so my seniors scolded me a lot. One day, I broke a piece of 2-ton reinforced glass while moving it. My seniors scolded me, and at that moment, I felt disappointed and wondered why I had to do this job. However, I decided to turn the situation around and learn from my mistake. I was determined to learn how to do my job, even if it meant working hard to make up for the glass I had broken.
From the next day, whenever I had questions, I consulted with my seniors and focused on coming up with faster ways to do the glass packaging work. As time passed, I could see the factory running smoothly, and cooperation among the team members gradually increased. When the new packaging method I came up with was actually adopted by the factory on the recommendation of my seniors, I felt that my efforts had been worthwhile. By the time I had to quit my job, I was already working in perfect harmony with my colleagues, and our teamwork was excellent. Leaving the factory made me realize how important communication and teamwork are in the workplace. These practical experiences, which cannot be learned from textbooks, were a valuable time for my personal development.
