How should you start writing a self-introduction letter for a medical equipment company?

In this blog post, we will tell you how to start writing a self-introduction letter for a medical equipment company and how to effectively convey your core competencies and experience.

Background

“A new dream that began with the question ‘Why?
Since I was a child, I was a student who always asked “why?” I was so curious that people around me got tired of me and asked me to stop. So, I raised my hand many times in class and asked questions one after another, and if I couldn’t find a clear answer, I wanted to find the answer myself, even if it meant looking it up in a book. Even when I read my textbooks, if something caught my attention, I would continue to wonder about it. I wasn’t a model student with good grades, but I was curious and wanted to explore even a single question in depth.
My father worked as a doctor at a local hospital. My father’s orthopedic hospital was like my playground, and I often visited to look around the examination rooms and hospital wards. Most children would have thought it was just a hospital, but I was different. I kept asking questions about what illnesses the patients had, why there were separate departments for orthopedics and internal medicine, and what the medical equipment in the treatment rooms was used for. Then, when I accidentally injured my ankle while playing soccer, I received treatment using the medical equipment at the hospital, which sparked my deep interest in various types of medical equipment.

Strengths and weaknesses

“I am curious, thoughtful, and stubborn.”
I am curious and try to find answers to questions I have until I find them. Because of this, I tend to focus on one thing and not pay much attention to my surroundings. Once I become interested in something, I explore it in such depth that others are amazed. For example, when I became interested in medicine, I went to the library and read all the relevant books to try to understand the mysteries of the human body. And when I had doubts about something, I tended to think about it so much that it seemed a little strange to those around me, and I asked them a lot of questions.
As I tried to satisfy my curiosity, I often found myself closer to the answer. Once I reach a conclusion on my own, I become very stubborn about it. Since I worked hard to reach that conclusion, I believe it to be true and accept it as my own theory. Being stubborn is an advantage in that it shows that I have strong opinions and confidence in myself. However, on the other hand, if I become too stubborn, I can become obstinate and unable to correct my mistakes. Sometimes I am stubborn about the wrong things and get criticized by those around me, so I am trying to improve this weakness by listening to others. Especially when working, there may be conflicts with people who have different opinions or with other departments, so I will try not to ruin things by pushing my own opinions too much.

School life and social activities

“Studying with an endless interest in medical equipment.”
In college, I majored in nursing and was able to study medicine and medical equipment, which I was so interested in, to my heart’s content. The nursing department I attended had a separate medical practice room with medical equipment that we could use for experiments at any time. During class, we handled self-blood glucose meters and joint braces and learned how to use them for treatment. In addition, I became even more fascinated with this field as I explored the latest medical equipment, such as electronic stethoscopes. However, nursing school only taught us how to handle equipment and use it for treatment, which was not enough to satisfy my curiosity. So, when I was in my senior year, I decided to change my major.
In order to transfer, I had to earn a certain number of credits and get a high TOEIC score, as the top scorers were selected. So, I worked hard to maintain my grades and studied for the TOEIC, and by the second semester of my second year, I had earned a score of over 900. Based on this, I was able to transfer to the medical engineering department at the same university in my third year. Since I transferred as a transfer student, there was a period of time when it was difficult to adapt to engineering studies. However, since I chose to study a field that I was interested in, I worked hard to achieve my goal. In fact, having studied nursing and medicine before studying engineering gave me a solid foundation of basic knowledge, which was an advantage in conducting extensive research.
After graduating from university, I did an internship at the medical engineering team of the university hospital. I mainly worked on repairing and improving medical devices and participated in small-scale development processes. In fact, hospitals needed more help with the use and repair of devices, and the development process was often carried out by separate companies, except for very large hospitals. So, I suggested this and was sent to a medical device development company for an internship. The internship satisfied my curiosity much more than the hospital training, and I actively participated in the structural analysis and development process of medical devices.

Volunteer

“I regularly volunteer at a clinic for foreigners in Korea.”
The number of foreigners entering Korea is increasing every year. Accordingly, there is a growing need for clinics for immigrants and foreigners living in Korea. Existing hospitals tend to follow the medical insurance system for Korean citizens and provide medical services accordingly. In contrast, clinics for foreigners provide medical services tailored to foreigners and even operate free clinics for those in difficult circumstances. I am currently volunteering at a free clinic. I believed that it was necessary to take proactive action while still a university student in order to expand the diversity and scope of the medical field, and I worked hard to put my ideas into practice.
At the clinic for foreigners, I started out as an interpreter. Since it is difficult for college students to participate in medical treatment from the beginning, I was in charge of communicating with patients while interpreting. In the next stage, I was put in charge of managing supplies at the clinic, and as I gained experience, I began to provide simple medical treatment. In cases where patients did not have serious illnesses but needed a preliminary diagnosis, I provided medical treatment and nursing care. Through my regular volunteer work, I found fulfillment and satisfaction as a medical professional, and I felt a sense of pride in working in the medical field. In this way, I believe that while it is important to be able to demonstrate one’s individual abilities as a medical professional, it is equally important to have a spirit of service.

Career goals and future aspirations

“A talented individual who contributes to the diversification and localization of medical equipment”
In Korea, medicine and nursing are well developed, and the fields in which medical assistants are employed are gradually expanding. However, the development of medical equipment is relatively slow. As I majored in medical engineering, I realized that there are not many fields where engineers who majored in medical equipment can work. It is possible to work as a researcher in the field of medical equipment research and development, but there are not many companies that develop and release such equipment. Although there are private companies, their technological capabilities and new manufacturing methods are lagging behind overseas trends. That is why I want to improve the current situation, where we rely on foreign medical equipment, and become a person who contributes to the development and advancement of medical equipment in Korea.
Specifically, as an R&D specialist, I want to be involved in the entire process of research and development, from basic research and application to product commercialization. To realize this ambition, I have applied to your medical equipment development department, and based on my long history of studying engineering, I will devote myself to research and development. In this way, I will contribute to the growth and sales expansion of your company, and ultimately become a talented individual who contributes to the diversification and localization of medical equipment in Korea. Please keep an eye on me, a talented individual with a broad and long-term perspective. Thank you very much.
