In this blog post, we will introduce ways to incorporate the sincerity and consistency required for human resources positions into your resume as practical skills rather than mere virtues.
Growth
“My father’s passion that made me stronger”
I was tall from a young age. Even now, I am quite tall and well-built, but because I was tall from a young age, I stood out everywhere I went. I was well aware of this, and embarrassingly, I relied on my strength and often acted as the leader. I was the leader at church, at cram school, and at school. As I became accustomed to being the leader, I began to act out at home as well. My father decided that he could not let me continue like this. From then on, my father began exercising with me every morning. My father had always enjoyed exercising, but he had taken a break due to work. He was originally an Aikido instructor. Even though he must have been tired from working for me, he gave up his morning sleep and woke me up every morning to go exercise with me, even though I didn’t want to go. At first, I found my father annoying and hated it, but as we exercised together, I began to listen to what he had to say. When I caught a cold, he still wanted to go exercise for me, and I realized that he was a truly strong person. From then on, I gave up my habit of acting like a leader and showing off in front of people. I started exercising with my father and learned how to get along with people and silently work hard for them, just like my father. I am always grateful to my father.
My strengths and weaknesses
“I am quiet, sincere, and therefore reliable.”
The greatest strengths of my personality are that I am quiet and sincere. I am not a talkative person, but I am the type who works with my hands. I am not the type to stand in front of people and speak, but I am confident that I am the type of person who works behind the scenes. There was a time when we were holding a school festival, and the light bulbs in the tents suddenly went out, and we had to run a bar at night, but there was no light. Everyone was panicking, but no one knew how to fix the electricity, so in a moment of desperation, I touched the light bulb with my bare hands. At that moment, there was a pop, and the electricity came back on, but I thought I had to connect the wires, and eventually, the lights came back on. People thought I was okay and were happy, but when I came down, they were all surprised to see that my hands were blackened. However, I didn’t know anything about electricity, and there were only a few men there, so I thought that if I left, the bar wouldn’t be able to open that night. When I realized that, I couldn’t take my hands off the wires. So even though I was injured, I stayed where I was. I am not the type of person who trembles or makes a fuss when things are hard, painful, or difficult. I am the type of person who silently does what I can do in that situation. For some reason, I thought that would be a good weakness to write down. Also, because I am a quiet and sincere person, I tend to be trusted by others, especially adults.
My weakness is that I am quiet when I first meet people. I am naturally quiet, but I think that when I am at work, I need to speak and behave in a way that makes people I meet for the first time feel comfortable. This is a weakness that I am working hard to improve. I will work hard to ensure that my strengths do not become weaknesses.
School life
“Learning to greet people.”
I have held the position of president several times at school. In my first year, I was the class president, in my second year, I was the president of the academic society I was a member of, and in my third year, I was the president of the sports club I was involved in. Coincidentally, while working as president in various places and positions, I realized the importance of greeting people. This is because I felt that the president should not be someone who is lively, good at dancing or singing, or good at leading people, but rather someone who can put the right people in the right places and manage them well. I think this is why I was able to continue serving as president even though I am a quiet person. Rather than assigning the position of general affairs to someone who was quick at calculations, I assigned it to someone who was sincere and honest, and rather than assigning the position of entertainment director to someone who was active, I assigned it to someone who had a strong sense of responsibility. In addition, I recognized the hidden strengths of quiet people rather than pretty and friendly people, and paired them with active people so that they would fit well into the club or group. As a result, people naturally began to say, half-jokingly, half-seriously, that I was good at greeting people, and I myself found greeting and management interesting, so I studied diligently and prepared myself.
Passionate experience
“Filling the gaps.”
When I was an intern reporter in college, the job was so difficult that everyone quit, and there was no one left to write articles. I was assigned to cover IT, but when I heard that there was no reporter covering culture, I took on that job as well, while continuing to write my regular articles. It was a very difficult experience, and I didn’t even get a raise, but I worked three times as hard for the same salary. However, I felt that it was an experience that I could only have when I was young, so I worked diligently. As a result, after working as an intern reporter, I worked as a contract employee and then as a freelance reporter, which allowed me to gain a variety of experiences and build my resume while attending school and earning money. Thanks to my attitude of doing even small tasks diligently and doing my best at everything I was assigned, even when I was busy, I was able to meet good people and find a good job, and I was able to earn more money than my peers, pay my tuition, and even give my parents some pocket money. This experience taught me the importance of doing even small things diligently. In addition, because of this, I was able to gain a deep understanding of IT and culture through my work as a reporter, which allowed me to develop an intellectual foundation for understanding trends in those fields and grow as a person.
Reason for applying and aspirations after joining the company
“I will become a person who shines on their own.”
It is said that there are people in this world who are like the moon and people who are like the sun. People who are like the moon are like the moon, which shines only when it receives light from someone else. However, they are said to be warm and gentle. On the other hand, there are people who are like the sun. They are intense, but they shine with their own light. These people are said to have leadership and a strong sense of responsibility. I am more like the sun, which shines with its own light, rather than the moon. Since I was young, I have been the type of person who does everything on my own because I am very self-conscious, and I prefer to help others rather than wait for them to help me. That is why I thought I would be good at supporting others. Through various experiences, I realized that I prefer to give help rather than receive it, and that it suits me better.
I don’t think there is anyone who wouldn’t want to join Samsung, a company that is expanding globally. Many people will apply, but what I want to say is that if you are looking for someone who is strong and determined, please take a closer look at me. I promise to work silently and steadfastly, without fear or hardship, and to become someone who will contribute to Samsung. Thank you very much.
