How can I include my experience analyzing content from a user’s perspective in my product planning self-introduction letter?

In this blog post, I will introduce how to incorporate your observation and analytical skills suitable for product planning into your self-introduction letter based on your experience interpreting and evaluating content from a consumer’s perspective.

Background

“A time when I was used to being alone”
My parents both worked. They were both busy with their jobs and always talked about work, so I didn’t have a place between them. I was often alone as a child. I studied on my own, made my own meals, and played by myself. I asked to be sent to a cram school because I spent so much time alone at home, but it was the same there. I got along reasonably well with my friends at school and with the friends I made at cram school, but when I came home, there was no one there. I didn’t have any siblings, so I spent a lot of time alone, which made me depressed and quiet. I thought that no one would change my situation, so I tried to find something I could do at school. As a result, I turned my attention to a new club and decided to join the band club.
The band was looking for members to play guitar, sing, play piano, compose, and write lyrics. I decided to try playing the guitar. Of course, I had never played the guitar before, but I thought it would be the easiest instrument to learn, and I had a guitar at home, so I decided to give it a try. I joined the band club, emphasizing that I had a lot of free time, and spent every day practicing the guitar. Rather than staying home alone, I went to the club room to practice, and instead of spending time feeling depressed, I tried to get along with other people. As a result, after only six months, my guitar playing improved greatly, and I became close with my club friends who recognized my skills, which helped me develop a positive personality. In this way, I had an innovative mindset that allowed me to move in a positive direction rather than remaining dissatisfied with my current situation.

Strengths and weaknesses

“Straightforward expression, no hard feelings”
Wherever I go, I tend to attract attention from those around me by expressing myself clearly and concisely. I tend to say things as they are, even when others try to beat around the bush, so people around me tend to see me as a straightforward person. For example, when confessing your feelings to someone, you could write a poem or express your feelings subtly through well-written words. However, I am someone who expresses my feelings as they are, without using flowery language. Being straightforward can cause the other person to feel embarrassed because you are expressing your feelings suddenly, but it is an advantage in that there is no room for misunderstanding.
The same is true at work. When I need to communicate with other departments, I tend to express myself concisely and in short sentences. I focus on expressing myself clearly through introductory greetings, necessary content, and closing remarks. By communicating in this way, I rarely have difficulty communicating or hesitate to convey my thoughts. Once I have organized my thoughts, I convey them immediately, and I don’t beat around the bush. As a result, even people who were initially taken aback by my direct manner of speaking often become accustomed to it and find that I express myself clearly. In the long run, this way of speaking leads to fewer misunderstandings and less ambiguity. I will work as a clear and decisive employee at your company as well.

School days

“Studying mobile communication.”
I attended Dankook University, majoring in mobile communication. I chose this major because it was rare. In fact, there are many universities and departments in Korea, but I thought that it was important to choose a rare department that would allow me to clearly define my personality and increase my chances of finding employment. So I chose mobile communication, which is rare, and found meaning in the fact that our department not only offers a rare field of study, but also reflects new market trends. Through my studies, I was able to learn theory and practice at the same time, but I personally benefited a lot from the many project-based practical courses. For example, we analyzed KakaoTalk, the most widely used messaging app in Korea, to understand its various features, such as Kakao Plus Friends, Item Store, Kakao Pay, Kakao Style, Kakao Story, Kakao Group, and Kakao Games.
Through these assignments, I conducted statistical analyses of users accessing mobile pages and applications, and analyzed the business advantages that can be obtained through the content provided to the general public through such applications. In particular, I tried to write a personal report analyzing the advantages, disadvantages, and characteristics of mobile communication that distinguish it from the general online environment. After repeated research, I tried mobile communication reflecting my ideas and developed content and a system with software engineering majors. Although it was a simple application, it reflected my research, and I was able to derive meaningful results by analyzing the responses of many users.

Life Philosophy

“If there is no path, make one.”
If there is no path, find a new one. And if you can’t find one, make one. These were the words of the late Chung Ju-yung, chairman of Hyundai Group. When I heard this quote, I was deeply moved, as if I had been struck on the back of the head. This was because I was struggling with my career plans at the time. I spent all three years of high school agonizing over my career path. Everyone around me seemed to have decided on their own path and career, but for some reason, I felt like I was the only one who was lost. So, I searched for various information to find my path. I took career tests, aptitude tests, and job tests, and I also searched for information on various departments at universities. While doing so, I tried to find things that I could do and things that I wanted to do.
I liked playing with my cell phone, so I wanted to do something related to smart devices or communications. However, even within this field, there were various areas such as cell phone development, internal applications, telecommunications carriers, and service providers, so I couldn’t decide what role I wanted to play. Then I came across a famous quote by Chung Ju-yung, and I decided that if I couldn’t see a path that was right for me, I would create one. So, I decided to work in sales or services in the telecommunications field, and I looked for majors related to customer communication. There weren’t many majors directly related to the service field, but there was a mobile communication major, so I applied and was able to complete my career plan.

Motivation and aspirations

“Sales and service specialist in the telecommunications field”
While majoring in mobile communications, I had a vague determination to work in the telecommunications field. When I graduated from college, I worked at a company that analyzed general mobile applications, where I was involved in data collection and analysis, as well as the establishment and utilization of big data. Through this process, I gained a deeper understanding of content services provided through mobile devices, and I decided that I wanted to work as a sales professional in this field. In short, I wanted to become a sales and service expert in the field of mobile communications. Your company is engaged in a business that matches my career goals, and you posted a job opening that suited my skills, so I decided to apply. I believe that working for a professional telecommunications company, managing a range of services and content provided through mobile devices and using the information collected to manage external customers, would be a good fit for me.
