How should you emphasize your self-motivated learning attitude and motivation for applying to Citibank?

In this blog post, we will look at how a keen interest in financial trends and self-directed learning habits can be used as compelling reasons for applying to Citibank in your self-introduction letter.

Your upbringing

When I was a child, my father held important positions such as class president and shopping district chairman, and he was a beloved “icon of trust” to everyone. His thoughtful consideration, calm demeanor, and ability to lead people with ease made him the perfect leader in the eyes of everyone, and I wanted to follow in his footsteps. My father always treated my brother and me with respect and strove to give us a proper education. He emphasized that people are social beings who live together, and that it is most important to maintain trust and confidence in one another. He said that people who lose the trust of others inevitably become isolated, and that breaking those bonds is like being pushed off a cliff.
He also said that we should not discriminate against people based on their social status, age, or position, but rather respect the opinions of the majority under the premise that all people are equal. For this reason, whenever my father sought to reach a consensus, he would create an atmosphere of equal discussion and, like an MC, listen to everyone’s opinions and reflect them in his decisions. Even if it is not possible to reflect every single opinion of the majority, once people realize that their choices and actions affect the direction of the group as a whole, they will become more attached to the group and strive to express their opinions. Whenever I saw this, I reflected on my own attitude, which was to always put my own opinions first and often argue with my brother.

School life

It was a time when I was striving to become a wise and trusted adult like my father. I was an ordinary child who often quarreled with my brother, and sometimes my selfishness got in the way of my desire to help others, causing me to worry. I had to work hard to control myself in order to express opinions that would benefit the majority. However, I began to feel that I couldn’t remain ordinary if I wanted to be like my father. I knew that trust is the best foundation for gaining the support of others and achieving one’s goals, so I realized that in order to be respected in society like my father, I had to work hard in that area first. Of course, it wasn’t something I could easily achieve just because I wanted it, so I calmly reflected on my behavior and tried to make clear decisions.
I also thought about my father, who always put others before himself and never rushed ahead recklessly. It is said that leaders stand at the forefront and give direct orders, but paradoxically, my father had the virtue of considering everyone else’s circumstances first before moving forward, and only then considering his own circumstances. His refusal to pursue his own interests first was a selfless trait that he had abandoned his natural self-centered desires, which are common in most people. Both at work and at home, my father never put himself first. He always considered my brother and me first, and he only pursued his own satisfaction after the majority of people were satisfied, which earned him the support of those around him.

Strengths and weaknesses

I always think of others before myself and try hard to be considerate and take a step back. People live in relationships with many others, but instinctively tend to put themselves first, so it is important to have someone who takes on the role of reminding people to pay attention and follow the ethics of proper group living. I am also human, so there are times when I unconsciously think of myself first, but whenever I realize this, I try to strictly guard myself and refocus my mind. I believe that understanding the instinct that causes people to think selfishly will help me in the future. Just as fish cannot live in water that is too clear, people must have a minimum level of humanity and unavoidable instincts in order to be accepted by others.
This aspect of my personality has freed me from the obligation that “in order to be in a position to help others, one must possess the morality of a saint.” I used to worry that I was not qualified to lead people because I felt that I did not measure up to my father in terms of generosity and character, but I was able to move forward with the conviction that it was precisely those human qualities that would make me a better person.

Life philosophy

I believe that the most important virtue for a person is human relationships. It is easy to think that the most necessary elements for humans are monetary values such as wealth and material goods, but in reality, people need the help of others in order to live a proper life. If you have lived a life where you can open your heart and share your circumstances with others, and there are people who are willing to lend a helping hand, then your life will never fall to the bottom. This is because they are supported by strong bonds that unite the group.
I have always valued human relationships, which cannot be replaced by any amount of money, and I have worked hard to strengthen my friendships and become a person who can form a wide range of relationships.

Reason for applying and aspirations after joining the company

My father, who was always attentive to people and thought ahead, and who had a wealth of experience in building relationships with many people, knew very well the power of human connections that help people achieve their goals. We all have to hold each other’s hands to live, so I learned from my father that if you know how to hold someone’s hand well, you will be able to maintain balanced relationships with many people. I was able to apply this lesson to building trust with customers.
I believe this will be a great strength for your company, which values relationships with customers, so I decided to apply. If I am given a position at your company where I can focus on my work, I will always take the lead, put myself out there first, and strive to be a role model for everyone by keeping my senses sharp and responding carefully. When I am first adapting to a job, I know that I cannot just wait for someone to hand me work and teach me, but that I must learn how to hunt for work on my own.
