How should I write a self-introduction letter for a job at a film production company?

In this blog post, we will provide examples of self-introduction letters for those aiming to work at a film production company and suggest how to write them.

Growth

“I developed a desire to explore through movies.”
Movies turned my dreams from black and white into color. After seeing a video for the first time in my life, I began to dream in color. I think the most memorable scene in Jurassic Park is when a large dinosaur looks through the window. To me, as a second grader, that scene was terrifying and a whole new world. I already loved dinosaurs, so I was completely absorbed in the movie, and even though I was scared, I was eager to go on an adventure and overcome my fears. That’s why I spent almost every day outside when I was young. Whether it was cold or hot, I would go outside and go on adventures by myself. Sometimes I would go looking for cicadas, and other times I would go looking for dragonflies. I would go on adventures by myself to discover new places, which would worry my parents. However, I believe that the various experiences, people, and colors of the sky and sunset that I encountered at that time have shaped who I am today. With a longing for exploration, I wanted to become an explorer and dreamed of traveling the world since I was a child. So, I bought maps and studied English on my own to prepare for my journey. However, I realized that I wasn’t actually interested in exploration, but rather in movies, so I traveled around and visited various places, taking pictures with my camera instead of exploring. Based on those experiences, I began to dream of becoming a filmmaker.

School days

“I visited a TV station on a whim.”
I was in the broadcasting club in both middle school and high school. However, because I was a teenager, there wasn’t much I could do in the club, and contrary to what I had imagined, it wasn’t an explosive experience. I wanted to do something really fun and adventurous, but all I could do was check the radio every morning before work. I didn’t think this was what I wanted to do, so I decided to visit a broadcasting station on a whim. I saw the large broadcasting station annex and was denied entry, so I stood in front of the door all day, waiting for something to come to mind or appear. Then I saw a camera car and a bus unloading all kinds of equipment, so I ran over and asked how I could get into the broadcasting station. At first, the people who stopped me thought I was a fan of a singer, but when they realized my true intentions, they smiled and suggested that I try being a youth reporter. So, from that moment on, I began working as a youth reporter for the broadcasting station. I was able to meet the producers in person and observe various scenes from dramas, variety shows, and documentaries, and I also had the privilege of watching them work from behind the scenes. I also had many opportunities to write proposals and have them reviewed. At that time, I just liked filming and planning, so I didn’t have a clear idea of whether I wanted to make movies or dramas. However, whenever I wrote a proposal, people often told me that it would be great if it were made into a movie. That experience inspired me to become a film student with dreams of making movies.

Extracurricular activities

“Two things I realized through extracurricular activities in college”
I originally wanted to study film, but I ended up enrolling in the Department of Business Administration. My father told me that it was fine to study film in other ways, but that I couldn’t understand business unless I majored in it, and that I shouldn’t become a fool who only knows film, but rather learn a variety of things so that I could make films. I was impressed by my father’s words, so I enrolled in the Department of Business Administration and minored in film. After enrolling in the business administration department, I started participating in various activities to gain experience in college life. One was a film production club on campus, and the other was monitoring movie scripts at a film company.
In the film production club, we usually worked together or individually on everything from production, filming, and directing to post-production for short films or, at most, medium-length films, and then presented our work. Through these activities, my film studies, helping my seniors in the field, and working as an assistant and assistant director in the field, I was able to gain a good understanding of the industry. With this understanding, I believe that if I pursue a career in film production, I will be able to make more realistic films and communicate effectively with the crew.
In addition, through external activities such as film script monitoring, I was able to get a feel for the scripts currently being produced, and above all, I learned how to read scripts and, through the process of reading and discussing them, I was able to understand how the general public thinks. Based on my two and a half years of monitoring experience, I believe that I will be able to work smoothly in film production.

My strengths and weaknesses

“I am definitely good at speaking.”
My strength is that I am a good communicator. I am someone who can clearly express my opinions, speak my mind, ask for what I want, and listen to others. I am a good speaker and express my opinions well because I have been a lecturer for a long time. I have always enjoyed running and sports, and I was good at swimming and biking, so I worked part-time as a lecturer. I didn’t earn much money as a director, so apart from the experience, I think that working as a lecturer on weekends allowed me to meet and communicate with various people, which helped me develop the ability to talk with anyone and express my opinions. In addition, through my extracurricular activities, which mainly involved a lot of discussions, I learned how to organize my thoughts and express my opinions without wavering. I am also good at listening to people and responding appropriately. If I hadn’t learned how to exchange opinions while filming with various people, I wouldn’t have been able to make good films or communicate with good people. I want to use these skills to join CJ and become a filmmaker who makes even more wonderful and spectacular films. Thank you very much.

Aspirations after joining the company

“I will become a challenging talent.”
As a new employee, there isn’t much I can say about what I will do at CJ. However, one thing is clear: I will take on challenges. Based on my Chinese and Japanese language skills, I will expand the scope of my filmmaking and take on challenges in various fields and with various people, striving to make the impossible possible. As someone who bears the honor of CJ, I will work diligently, never forgetting that I have been given a precious opportunity to grow together with the company. Based on my dream of becoming an explorer, I will become a talented individual who is not afraid to explore new areas. Thank you very much.
