How can you convincingly describe your contest award experience in a media sales self-introduction letter?

In this blog post, we will introduce how to effectively include your contest award experience in a media sales self-introduction letter by connecting it to your actual abilities, rather than simply listing it as part of your resume.

Growth

“My parents taught me to take responsibility for my own work.”
Thanks to my parents who both worked, I think I developed independence from an early age. A distant relative helped with the housework and looked after us when we were young, but since my parents were never home, I had to find things to do on my own, and as I got older, it became my responsibility to take care of my younger sibling. My parents always emphasized that I was my younger sibling’s guardian when they were not around, and I think this instilled a greater sense of responsibility in me. My parents told me that I had to clean up after myself, from putting away my shoes when I came home to tidying my room, and that I had to do my own work. From an early age, they told me that they would pay for my first semester of college as a gift for my acceptance, but that I would have to pay for the rest myself. Perhaps because of this, I always thought that I would become a real adult when I went to college, and when I actually entered college, I started working part-time after the entrance exam to earn my allowance and tuition, and began to take care of myself.

School days

“A student who makes those around him happy and enjoys himself more”
One of the things I enjoyed most about going to school was entertaining the other children. When I saw funny scenes or movements on comedy shows, I would practice them all night and then show them to the children the next day. I would sit my younger siblings down and ask them to judge whether what I was doing was funny or not, and I would act out various scenes. As a result, children naturally gathered around me, and I was able to spend my school days as a fun and popular kid. I was in charge of hosting various school events, and as I gained confidence in speaking in front of children, I naturally became more confident in my presentation skills, which became one of my strengths. This trait continued into college, where I participated in various presentation contests and won awards.
“Someone who knows how to invest in valuable time”
I have many friends and enjoy interacting with people, so I became involved in many clubs when I started college. In fact, aside from attending classes and working part-time, I spent most of my time participating in these clubs. At first, it was enjoyable and fun, but at some point, I began to feel that these aimless friendships were meaningless. So, I left only one club for volunteer work and quit the rest. In the volunteer club, I was in charge of youth volunteer work, and I was assigned to help children from underprivileged areas with their after-school studies. The students who came to the study room were motivated because they wanted to study, so even though their environment was difficult, they were studying for their dreams, which made teaching them very rewarding. Some of the students I taught later became my juniors through a special admission program, so it was a very special and precious time for me. Even now, we continue to share our concerns about school life and maintain our friendship as good seniors and friends.

Strengths and weaknesses

“Bright face, always greeting others first”
I always greet people first and have a cheerful expression, so I often hear that I am a nice person. As a result, I have come to think of myself as a good person, and I try harder to be a good person. However, my close friends say that they have never seen me get angry and worry that this trait may be stressful for me. To be honest, there are times when I wonder if I have a complex about being a good person. Even when I get angry or need to get angry, I don’t want to lose my image as a good person, so I tend to just put up with things, thinking that what is good is good. However, at some point, people started to see me as someone who has no likes or dislikes and never gets angry, so I realized that I needed to learn to get angry at the right time and say no when necessary, and I am working hard to do so.

Career history (or experience that demonstrates your work abilities)

“A fearless spirit”
After completing my military service, I was looking for a part-time job while returning to school when I found out that the store where I had previously worked was available under good conditions. After consulting with my parents, I took over the store and ran it for about two years. The business was doing well, so I worked really hard for the first year to increase profits. However, after returning to school, I found it difficult to balance my studies and running the shop, and after deciding that I had gained enough experience, I closed the shop. Although it was a short experience, I was able to learn many things about business and fortunately, I was able to close the shop with a small profit. After returning to school, I focused on my studies and graduation, and through a study group I joined, I became interested in online media advertising. So I participated in a new media promotion contest that was underway at the time, and thanks to my talented teammates, we won an award. I was in charge of new media social media promotion strategy, and my expansion strategy utilizing my previous experience in running a portal blog and cafe and my recent interest in Twitter was particularly well received.

Hobbies and other interests

“A man who understands the appeal of music”
I was in a school band since high school. I wasn’t very good, but I loved the sound of the bass and had a deep understanding of various genres of music. I also had a good network with other schools, which allowed me to arrange many joint performances, and I think that was what motivated me to continue playing in the band. In high school, I had the courage to perform on stage without rehearsal, but now I feel a little embarrassed when I’m not prepared, so I practice once a year and prepare for my performances. Music is really strange. No matter how extreme or intense your taste in music is, once you find a common ground in music, the bond and sense of unity you feel is beyond imagination. And once you experience the excitement of playing in a band, which is completely different from practicing an instrument alone, it’s impossible to escape its charm. I don’t know about anything else, but I want to continue playing in this band, and when I start a family, I hope that we can all get together and play different parts in a band.

Motivation for applying and aspirations

I have always been told that I am a people person and good at interpersonal relationships, so I thought I would be well suited to a sales position. Perhaps because of this, I had a vague dream of working in sales. Then, through a contest, I learned that there were sales positions in the online and new media fields, which I had become very interested in. Advertising and new media are promising fields, and I believe that a job that allows me to build up sufficient knowledge about social media, which I am currently very interested in, and commercialize and sell that knowledge is an area where I can leverage my abilities and create synergy in many ways. I have heard from many of my seniors in the industry that ○○ Media is a media company that is expanding its business in the new media advertising market through active business expansion. I would like to become a new growth engine that can contribute more energy to a developing company by pouring my experience, interests, and capabilities into it. Please keep an eye on me and watch me grow. Thank you very much.
