In this blog post, we will introduce effective ways to express your sincerity and thoroughness, which are important qualities in education administration, using specific examples in your self-introduction letter.
Growth
Influenced by my father, who is a bank employee, I grew up watching him take care of even small tasks and maintain good self-management. Instead of telling me to study hard, my parents encouraged me to read a lot and created a learning environment where I could study on my own. I was able to study hard at university and during my ○ years of study abroad in Beijing, as well as at graduate school. After graduating from graduate school, I was able to study education in depth while taking the civil service exam for ○ years, and I learned about the professional role and importance of education administration.
School days
I was afraid of water because I fell into the water when I was in elementary school. So, I could only go to shallow places with my friends during summer vacation, and then I suddenly realized that if I couldn’t overcome my fear, I wouldn’t be able to do anything. To overcome this, I joined a club. I was able to overcome my fear of water by facing the waves while sailing. I went sailing even on rainy and windy days, and on windy days, the sailboat would sometimes capsize and fall into the Han River. However, this experience allowed me to overcome my fear of water and gave me the opportunity to win the battle against myself. The confidence I gained from winning competitions at several universities helped me overcome my fear of water and taught me to believe that I can do anything and enjoy challenges.
Strengths and weaknesses
I am not shy about learning and teaching, so I do not set limits for myself. There is a Chinese proverb that says, “When three people walk together, there is always one who can be my teacher.” I do not hesitate to learn what I am lacking. Even if someone younger than me knows something, I ask them without feeling embarrassed. By learning from each other’s shortcomings, we have become closer. And when someone older than me needs help, I am the first to offer a helping hand. My weakness is that I am overly enthusiastic about my work and cannot refuse when asked for help, which sometimes leads to an excessive workload. I am working to overcome this weakness by prioritizing my tasks, handling the most important ones first, and using my sound judgment to plan and distribute tasks realistically.
Career (or experience that demonstrates your work ability)
I volunteered as an English interpreter at the 2002 World Cup and the Asian Games in Busan, where I assisted Indian broadcast staff. On that day, there was a tennis match between India and Thailand, and I interpreted between the Korean broadcast staff and the Indian staff. My job was to inform them of precautions regarding the installation of equipment necessary for broadcasting. At first, I had difficulty understanding them because of their strong Indian accent and intonation, as well as my unfamiliarity with broadcasting terminology. So, I took a pen and notebook and wrote down unfamiliar words as I went along, and I tried to repeat them to get used to the pronunciation. Through these efforts, I became friends with the Indian staff and overcame my fear of making mistakes. My ability to quickly adapt to new situations will be helpful when unexpected situations arise at work.
Motivation for applying and aspirations
First, I will create manuals related to administrative work to help my colleagues easily perform their duties according to the situation. I will make sure that anyone can refer to the manuals when I am absent or when urgent work is needed. Second, I will work closely with other departments to provide accurate information to promote research. I will list the tasks that need to be done first and create a flowchart. This will allow us to adjust the necessary steps as we proceed with our work and proceed in order to save time. This will help us to perform administrative tasks accurately and quickly. Third, I will utilize my experience as an assistant researcher at the Buddhist Culture Research Center at XX University to support policy seminars and workshops. It was difficult to coordinate the seminar schedule with researchers affiliated with XX University, university professors, and monks from various fields of the Jogye Order, but through meetings with other administrative staff, we were able to efficiently divide the work and cooperate with each other to successfully complete the seminar.
