In this blog post, we’ll show you how to effectively incorporate your love and longstanding interest in a particular car brand into your cover letter with the authenticity and persuasiveness needed for a trade sales role.
Growing up
Growing up, my dad’s car was an incredibly cool and inspiring object of admiration. He was always traveling around the country for work, and he was always meticulous about maintaining and repairing his cars, and even on his days off from work, he would take care of them as if they were another member of the family, washing and inspecting them. Whenever I saw him do that, I felt like I was watching myself take care of my dog, and it made me feel more connected to his cars. It’s one of the reasons why I always followed my dad around when he went for a car wash or a quick drive, and why I joined him in his weekend activities. Even though I was only helping my dad with small things like tools and water, I loved the feeling of voluntarily doing something for him, and it always made me feel proud.
Due to the high-mileage nature of my dad’s job, his car changed regularly, but the brand was always a consistent choice. It was the first car he bought with his first salary when he became a professional, so he always chose your car to drive around in order not to lose his roots. Whenever I saw my dad’s persistence, I would always hope that when I became a professional and drove my own car, I would do so with your car. Since then, whenever I have drawn a picture of myself in the future, I always include your car by my side, because I also have the desire to solve my social history with your car when I go out to work as an individual talent.
Academic life
I grew up helping my father with his car, and his knowledge of cars earned him the respect of his friends. The years of shadowing my dad whenever he did simple repairs or washed his car never went to waste, feeding my extraordinary interest and knowledge. I know the name of every brand of car on the street, which ones are new, where they’ve been tuned, and the insight to identify even the simplest problems. However, I was still nowhere near the level of knowledge that my father or his regular mechanic had, so I never bragged about my accomplishments and kept my head down like a humble rice.
On the one hand, I dreamed of pursuing a full-fledged career in automobiles and hoped to join a related company. I had been watching my father’s car up close and admiring it since I was a kid, and before I knew it, I was fascinated by the different types of cars and their driving behavior everywhere I went on the road. I also had high hopes that I would see a car that I had worked on every day on the street, and how exciting it would be to see my father drive it. I also thought about how proud my father would be to see me driving a car that I had a hand in. My dad and his cars were the origin of my interest in cars, so I knew that if I had the opportunity to showcase my hard work and achievements as a person and as a professional, there would be nothing more exciting than the existence of that origin.
Introduce your personality
I’m the type of person who, when I find an interest or field that I love, I dive headfirst into it and only let go once I’ve achieved a certain level of accomplishment. As a child, my father’s cars sparked my curiosity for knowledge and accomplishment, but I couldn’t pester him or the mechanic indefinitely, so I would use the library or the internet to study relentlessly. It was a bit embarrassing when my mother, who thought I was preoccupied with my schoolwork, gave me a sympathetic glance, but at one point in my schooling, I had a pretty clear divide between what I liked and what I didn’t like: I had relatively little energy in the areas I didn’t like, but I had a lot of potential energy that could have exploded into a huge synergy if I could merge my interests with my career path.
This provided me with a foundation that allowed me to move forward with some patience and enough sense of obligation to the world, following my parents’ advice that just as a person can’t just pick and choose their favorite side dishes unless they’re a child, they should also have more than a basic knowledge of the areas they dislike. This is because all of the disciplines were holistically intertwined with each other, no matter how much I wanted to pursue a path related to my interests.
Values
I want to live my life in a way that doesn’t leave my childhood dreams as mere wishful thinking. We often think that there are many things we have to let go of in order to become adults, and we often feel that we’ve “grown up” when we’ve forced ourselves to let go of our childhood naïve beliefs, hopes, visions, interests, or curiosities, and become boring adults. However, in order for a person to continue to move forward with passion and energy, they need that same purity of drive, and I want to honor my childhood dreams and not leave them behind, and to do whatever it takes to make them come true.
I believe that as long as you don’t feel ashamed and beat yourself up, your dreams and hopes can be a device to raise your goals and fulfillment in life, not something you must abandon in order to become an adult.
Motivation and post-employment aspirations
As a child, I grew up with an infinite admiration for my father’s car, which he often changed frequently due to his work and carefully maintained, often paying attention to minor maintenance, car washing, etc. even on weekends, and I was influenced by his philosophy of consistently choosing your company’s cars from the time I first started working until now, so I was deeply fascinated by your company’s cars and had a desire to work in a related field. I am motivated to be a part of the development and management of your company’s cars, which have long been my father’s partner in business travel.
If I were to work with your company, I would be a person who would be able to work harder and harder, not just in the sense of doing my job, but in the sense of inheriting the “history” of your company that has been passed down to the present day, because I am fully aware of the importance of being a “member” of the team and doing my part, rather than just recognizing that it is the work of an individual.
