In this blog post, we will introduce specific ways to convincingly convey your mobile app development experience in your cover letter.
Growth
“The son who makes his mother smile”
My father worked hard for my family, and my mother had a difficult time taking care of our large family, but they never showed their struggles in front of us children.
They were very positive thinkers, and my parents chose to accept their circumstances and enjoy life. Growing up with parents like that, I never fought with my siblings over trivial matters or complained to my parents.
My father was the eldest son, and my younger uncle, who was eight years younger than me, lived with us, so my mother had the difficult role of taking care of her husband, two sons, and her son-like younger brother, four men in total.
I felt that my mother must have been very lonely without any female siblings, so I tried to make her smile by being as affectionate as possible. Even though I was the eldest of two brothers, I was more affectionate than my younger brother, and I grew up playing the role of changing the atmosphere at home.
In high school, I was active in the science club, where I experienced a more intimate organizational life than in my classroom. I learned the basics of human relationships through my relationships with my seniors, juniors, and friends. In my second year, I served as the vice president of the club, assisting the leader and playing a part in leading the organization, which allowed me to develop a sense of belonging and community.
Strengths and weaknesses
“Positive and logical”
I believe that my diligence and sense of responsibility are my greatest strengths. I am the type of person who does not procrastinate and always finishes what I start. Even when I have time to rest, I will not take a break until I have finished all my work. This trait can also be a disadvantage in that I tend to push myself too hard. Rest is also important in order to enjoy work, so I try to balance rest and concentration to increase my efficiency.
I have a positive attitude and excellent adaptability, allowing me to quickly adjust to any environment. It was thanks to this personality that I was able to maintain an active and proactive personality while helping my father with housework. When I went to college in Seoul, I left my father and started living on my own, but my positive adaptability allowed me to live independently.
My logical thinking and excellent judgment are also strengths. When I look at any object or person, I think about what lies behind it and approach it from various perspectives to evaluate it holistically and three-dimensionally. When I have to make a decision, rather than blindly accepting facts, I always try to calmly judge whether they are reasonable or harmful, which allows me to achieve good results.
School Life
“Programming genius”
I entered the Department of Information and Communication Engineering and spent my first year there, but when I started taking classes in my major, I realized that military service might interfere with my studies, so I enlisted early.
I served as an administrative soldier in the military. As I always approached everything with a positive attitude, even though it was an unfamiliar organizational life, I tried to quickly accept it, thinking, “It’s just a job that everyone has to do!” I approached my training positively and carried out my duties reliably, earning the trust of my superiors to the point that I was appointed as a squad leader.
I was able to finish my military service early and return to school to focus on my studies. After leaving the military, I made a plan to use my time wisely by focusing on my studies and working part-time.
While juggling both, I made time to form a study group with my seniors and peers to continue studying programming in depth. Through working together, I learned the importance of consideration and cooperation when coordinating and discussing ideas, and it also helped me review what I learned in class, which greatly benefited my studies.
As I studied my major in depth, I became particularly interested in programming using C language, and I realized that I had a better sense of logic than my friends.
In particular, while researching open sources, I created my own mobile app, ran it, and asked my friends to evaluate it, and many of them said that it was good enough to be released.
I focused on my major and led a diligent school life, but I was also active and enjoyed sports and planning trips. I often went hiking with my seniors and juniors in the department who were like-minded, which helped me relieve the stress of school. It was a valuable activity that allowed me to take a break from my life of going back and forth between the library and the lab like clockwork and spend time in nature reflecting on myself.
Reason for joining the company and aspirations
“I will become a developer who speaks through results!”
I have just graduated from university and am preparing to enter the workforce. Although I lack practical experience, I have been recognized for my programming language skills at school, never once receiving less than an A+ in any of my programming language classes.
As a frequent user of mobile devices, my goal is to implement the most user-friendly and convenient mobile technology, and I will work hard to become such a developer.
I am a quick learner and have excellent application skills. Therefore, I believe that I will be able to adapt quickly to the work at your company. I believe that people are the most important asset in any organization, so I will work well with my colleagues and hone my skills to become the best developer I can be.
