Cooperative experience

“Experience in negotiating with team members to complete tasks”
When I was in college, studying communication, I would say that communication was what I did most. Not only was it my major, but my classmates were also interested in communication and negotiation. In fact, there is almost no situation in today’s workplace or social life where communication and negotiation are not necessary. Even if you are not in sales, negotiation and communication are key skills in marketing, public relations, advertising, and the media industry as a whole. Ideas that remain within oneself become like a frog in a well, while ideas that are communicated to others tend to be recognized for their potential.
In this situation, I can say that I mainly solved problems through negotiation. During my four years at university, almost all of my assignments involved negotiation, and I had many opportunities to share my thoughts with people of different personalities and values. When negotiating, we mainly used brainstorming to express our thoughts freely. This is because too many rules and restrictions often interrupt the flow of creative ideas. Therefore, when we were given tasks such as devising new marketing strategies or launching new brands, we tried to create an environment where we could come up with new ideas.
Presentation skills were also essential for preparing presentations. Usually, people who are good at this take charge, but that was not the case with us. Presentations were usually given by a group, so it was not a structure where only one person presented. Several people took turns presenting the same material, and if additional explanation was needed, the person in charge of that part gave a presentation as an expert. We also used the latest presentation software to edit the presentation materials so that they would slide across the screen. Through these efforts, we were able to gradually improve our presentation and negotiation skills and refine each individual’s ideas.

Achievements

“Theater club, taking on the role of director.”
When I was in college, I joined a theater club called “Rose Theater.” At first, I joined because I wanted to appear in a play as an actor. However, when I actually tried acting, I was frustrated. I thought I was delivering my lines as coolly as the other actors and moving around energetically, but the audience said my acting was awkward and out of place. So I started thinking about other things I could do besides acting. Just because I loved theater didn’t mean I had to be an actor.
That’s when I thought of becoming a theater director. Actors are the ones who actually perform and present the play, but behind the scenes, there are many more people involved in theater, including stage directors, playwrights, directors, and staff. I thought it was cool that these people played the most important roles behind the scenes, so I decided to become a director to play such a role myself. At first, I worked as a staff member, assisting with stage production, but later I participated in scriptwriting, and finally I became a director and checked the final rehearsals. As I gradually grew, I learned about theater one step at a time, and it was a valuable experience to be able to participate in all the roles necessary to put on a play.
I remember the last performance I prepared before graduation. It was a work that contained social satire about the humorous things that happen in various parts of society. I wrote the script in collaboration with the writer, and then we worked together to direct the play and submitted it as a joint work. The play was well received by theater professionals and won an award at a national college competition. A theater production company that liked our play even purchased the rights to it. This experience made me want to become a better director.

Motivation for applying and work experience

“Various media content, especially theater!”
As an entertainment group, your company handles a wide range of media content, including games, movies, broadcasting, music, and performances. Among these, the area I am most interested in is the performing arts. The reason I chose the performing arts as my desired career is because I love theater. While in college, I planned theater performances and worked as a director. The work I directed was recognized for its artistic merit, winning an award at a national competition, and I also have experience selling my work to other companies.
My passion and love for theater led me to apply for a position at your company. Recently, I also planned and presented a one-act play as a volunteer for the Seoul Youth Festival. This experience was very helpful and will be useful when I start working at your company. The one-act play I presented was a condensed version of the lives of young people, and I wrote the script as if it were a movie. In the process of creating the content, theater actors are usually cast, but my team and I doubled the creativity of the content by using virtual actors that only exist in the media.
Virtual actors are 3D characters that exist only online, and team members majoring in design and graphics were mainly in charge of creating the characters’ movements, actions, and dialogue. We created characters for various actors and their actions and dialogue, while continuously communicating with each other and brainstorming ideas. Rather than having only the person in charge of a task come up with ideas, we tried to create collaborative works that emphasized cooperation rather than division of labor. In this way, we were able to produce complete content through close cooperation in every step of the process, from scriptwriting to video editing. Based on this experience, I am passionate about creating creative and innovative content at your company.

Goals and plans after joining the company

“Prepared talent, prepared company”
CJ E&M is a company that focuses on entertainment businesses such as games, movies, and media. I have wanted to work at your company for a long time. In particular, while majoring in communication at Sogang University, I learned about your company through communication with my study group members. Among job seekers preparing for employment, CJ was regarded as a large company and a place worth pouring our dreams and passion into. That is why I decided to apply for a position in the management support division of the media industry, which is one of the many diverse fields of E&M.
As this is the company I have dreamed of working for for a long time, I want to work with more passion than others after I join the company. I understand that interns will undergo an internship program when they join the management support team. I have previous experience as an intern at a broadcasting station, so I believe I have what it takes to complete the internship program. First and foremost, I am responsible for my work, and I am passionate about improving and learning new things. I also have experience in planning and producing media content in the entertainment industry. In terms of job skills, I have strategic thinking and execution skills, so I believe I am ready to demonstrate my abilities.
