Why should a company hire me for an R&D position in the food and beverage industry?

In this blog post, I will introduce a sample self-introduction letter based on my experience and abilities, with the theme, “Why should a company hire me for an R&D position in the food and beverage industry?”

Reasons for applying and why you should be hired

“Because I am a challenging person.”
There is only one reason why I should join XX: I am a person who takes on challenges.
I attended university while running my own business. I really enjoyed the challenge of doing something new and feeling a sense of growth, even if it was difficult. That is why I started a business making boxed lunches. Many college students are interested in dieting, but it is difficult for them to prepare their own meals every day, so they often end up eating triangle rice balls, unhealthy foods, or skipping meals altogether. So, I created a diet lunch box with a menu that was nutritious and helpful for dieting, and promoted it to the dormitories. Naturally, it was very popular, and it was a business that could have remained profitable for a long time, but the downside was that I couldn’t study and had to devote all my time to work. Furthermore, the fact that I didn’t have a license prevented me from running an official business. So I gave up the business, but I was able to earn two semesters’ tuition in just one semester. That experience taught me that if you focus on things that others don’t do but are necessary, you can earn money more effectively.
Not only that, but I was someone who wanted to live life to the fullest and have fun. I didn’t just want to eat, I wanted to enjoy my food and make it taste better, so I started a food blog that became very popular. I am a talented person who strives to be unique in everything I do, and I try to do everything I do well and enjoy the challenge. If you hire me, I will become a talented employee who competes with the creativity that is essential for a new employee at XX. Thank you very much.

Growth

“A curious girl”
When my friends were playing with rubber bands, I was holed up in the science room, and when they were playing outside, I was the girl who went out to the fields to run around. That’s because I was so curious. I liked to burn things with an alcohol lamp and measure the ashes, and on days when I couldn’t do that, I would volunteer to assist with experiments in other grades. I enjoyed playing with my friends by making things like bouncing balls and lottery tickets with the results of my experiments. I also loved running around in the fields. Rather than sitting still, I preferred to run around, enjoy nature, and observe the strange appearances of various creatures. Being so curious, I did not do well in school until junior high school, but when I entered high school, I began to enjoy studying and science, and my grades started to improve. In my senior year of high school, my father told me that if I got into the university of my choice, he would send me on a trip abroad, so I studied hard and raised my grades by 120 points, enabling me to enroll in the food and nutrition department of the university of my choice.

Passionate experiences

“Experiencing food through studying abroad and extracurricular activities.”
Passionate experiences The first was studying abroad. I studied abroad in the Netherlands for two years. The reason I chose the Netherlands, which is slightly different from the United States and other English-speaking countries, was simply because it is the home of cheese. There, I was able to taste various kinds of cheese at reasonable prices and see and experience the unique distribution system, which made me realize that there are many foods that I would like to introduce or apply in Korea. I even tried experimenting in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, markets are held occasionally, similar to the five-day markets in Korea, and they offer a variety of foods and fruits. I visited the Dutch government office for a week, obtained permission, filled out the paperwork, and sold two products: pancakes with kimchi and cheese and pancakes with kimchi and cheese. The unusual flavors attracted many customers, but by making two similar yet different foods, I was able to understand which product people liked and which country people preferred one of the two. Based on that, I entered a thesis contest at the end of my fourth year and won. That experience made me realize that there are many things I can do if I am proactive, and it was also an opportunity to experience the tastes of various cultures firsthand.
Another thing is external activities. As a Korean food culture ambassador, I participated in a seven-day camp where I ate and experienced foods from all over the country with foreign students. There, I ate Korean food with various people and had time to think about what we need to preserve and what we need to develop in order for Korean food to spread worldwide. I was also able to learn about various cultures and foods from the friends of different nationalities I met there. I have fond memories of enjoying a festival at the embassy with an Indian friend who invited me.

Self-development

“Developing language skills.”
Above all, I strive to develop my language skills. In particular, ○○ is a large company that is expanding not only in Korea but also globally. I believe that language skills are essential for working at your company, so I am fluent in English, Japanese, and Spanish. I will constantly improve my language skills and study various languages, explore world-famous and local foods, and always strive to find products that can be introduced to the Korean market. I will also constantly think about how to export Korean products overseas. To support these efforts, I will develop my language skills and maintain a studious attitude.

Career

There is a fable I heard once. A mother and daughter went to a udon restaurant and ordered a bowl of udon. When the owner asked them why they were ordering only one bowl, they replied that they didn’t have enough money. The owner, not wanting to hurt their feelings, gave them more than two bowls of udon. If I am hired by ○○, a member of the ○○ group, I believe I will need to approach food with this mindset. I will strive to make food that is delicious and healing for everyone, and I will plan and distribute meals with care, keeping in mind that for some people, this may be their only meal of the day after a long day of work.
If I join ○○, I will take on the challenge of creating new dishes in addition to ○○’s existing variety of dishes, and I will always consider the tastes and circumstances of our customers. I will strive to create products that consumers want and categories that consumers want as someone who understands their needs. Thank you very much.
