New hire recruitment for the HR team: What experiences should you emphasize in your application letter?

In this blog post, we will provide specific examples and guidance on how to write an effective application letter for new hire recruitment for the HR team, emphasizing the experiences you should highlight.

Reasons for applying and why you should be hired

“I believe that people are always a work in progress.”
People cannot be understood based on a single aspect. For example, there are two people in front of me right now. One person did not graduate from college and is desperate to make money with his mediocre qualifications, so he works at a factory and has never had a decent job. On the other hand, the other person graduated from a good college and even studied abroad. However, I think that in a year’s time, the person who is needed by the company may be the one who couldn’t go to school because he had to work at a factory. It will depend on the position of the person. For example, if you are a new employee at a CJ distribution company in the restaurant industry, I would dare to say that the first applicant is more suitable. In addition to being responsible for distribution, I think that in order to communicate well and get along with the people involved in distribution, you need to be someone who has worked hard and knows how to empathize with others. In that case, I think someone who has experienced hardship and worked in a low position would be more suitable, rather than an applicant who looks good on the outside but is weak on the inside and has only eaten well-prepared meals. I believe that you should not judge a person by their appearance, but rather look at their job and assess their potential for the future.
I am still a new employee, but since I was in my first year of high school, I have had countless part-time jobs, and due to my family circumstances, I had to move around between relatives’ houses and was very conscious of other people’s opinions. I have worked in places where I was not welcome and places where I was welcomed, so I am familiar with various environments and people. If you accept me based on my background, I will devote myself entirely to CJ. I will study constantly to learn about the right job for me, and I will be a diligent person who tries many things and is always on the move in order to think differently from others. Thank you very much.

Growth

“Frequent moves and frequent conflicts have made me the strong person I am today.”
I am ashamed to say that I was raised by my mother. My father left our family early on to start a new family, and I grew up taking care of my younger sibling in a poor environment with little care. Due to our difficult financial situation, we moved frequently, and my mother had to work and take care of me by herself, so I was often left in the care of my grandmother or other relatives. Even though we were just children, we understood the situation. I grew up in an environment where no one cared for me, so I couldn’t help but feel intimidated. However, I knew instinctively that if I became timid, there would be no one to take care of my younger sibling, so even in difficult situations, I grew up to be more confident and hardworking. I helped with the housework, studied on my own, and took care of my younger sibling’s homework. When we had to move again, I didn’t get frustrated or sad about leaving my friends. I just dusted myself off and moved on. Through these various experiences, including many difficult ones, I learned how to stand on my own two feet. People’s true nature comes out when they are in front of those who have nothing, and I saw many people reveal their true nature in front of me, but rather than hating or fearing them, I tried to learn how to survive and get along with them. My hardships made me who I am today, and that is why I was able to live my life accepting and appreciating the behavior of various people rather than criticizing them.

Internal and external activities

“Hosting a startup competition.”
Unless you join a leading company, or even if you do, the keywords in today’s world are still ‘starting your own business’ and ‘discovering new fields,’ in other words, ‘starting a business.’ So I joined the ‘One-Person Creative Business Press Corps’ and was assigned to cover startup activities, study about startups, and write articles. Finally, I hosted a startup competition. The Small Business Administration hosted the article writing and posting, but the startup competition was entirely up to us. Promoting the competition was the hardest part. We needed to promote the competition well in order to recruit participants and collect participation fees, but it was difficult because it was our first time doing something like this. However, we did not give up and divided into online and offline teams to promote the competition. We started by making posters and distributing them to people on the streets, and then we divided up the universities and promoted the competition at each university. We also posted on Facebook and Twitter and found websites that mainly promote lectures and posted on those sites to attract a wide range of people. I did everything on my own, from arranging the lecturers to accepting applications from participants and deciding on the prize money. As a result, even though it was our first competition, over 100 people came to listen to the lectures, and we were able to introduce one-person creative companies to many people through our booth.

Strengths and weaknesses

“I don’t shy away from things”
The biggest strength of my personality is that I don’t avoid things. When dealing with people or work, I don’t procrastinate or avoid anyone. So when a conflict arises, I talk to the person directly and listen to their side of the story before making a decision. At work, I don’t say I can’t do something in advance, but try it first and then give my opinion. Because I try things first and then make decisions, I have been able to gain a lot of experience, and because I don’t judge people by their appearances, I have been able to make many friends. That’s why I was able to make foreign friends when I went abroad and gain valuable experience through various part-time jobs, from selling ice cream to portrait modeling.
The disadvantage of my personality is that I tend to be told that I am aggressive because I don’t avoid things. However, I am good at coordinating opinions and listening to others, so I will strive to ensure that my strengths do not become weaknesses. In order to become a more effective communicator, I will be careful with my words. Thank you very much.

Career

“Assisting the Human Resources Team at the Startup Technology Center”
My ability to successfully organize a startup competition was recognized, and I joined the Startup Technology Center to assist the Human Resources Team. The team was not large, but our main tasks were to recruit the right people, constantly acquire new startup skills, and train people based on what we had acquired. In addition, our team was also responsible for identifying people with good potential who wanted to start a new company and introducing them to startup teams. While working as an assistant there, I realized that it is important to understand a person’s future based on their past, and that it is even more important to trust people based on that understanding. I also realized that it is important to trust people and help them improve through training, as everyone is bound to be clumsy when they first start a job. If I join CJ’s HR team, I will have to manage many more people than before and use a diverse range of people more flexibly. Above all, based on CJ’s values, I will not be swayed by personal emotions, but will look far ahead with a long-term perspective and constantly move in a direction that will benefit CJ. I look forward to working with you.
