How should you describe the ideal candidate for a bank in your cover letter?

In this blog post, we will look at what banks are looking for in candidates and share some tips on how to effectively incorporate these qualities into your cover letter.

Give yourself a brief compliment

I am a person who spreads positive energy to those around me, and people feel good when they are around me.

What are your weaknesses?

I like people and trust them easily. I understand that not everyone can feel the same way I do, but I have been deceived because I trusted people too much. However, I believe that most people are good at heart. I don’t think you should lose trust in people because of a few bad apples. I will show you that I have the wisdom to discern people who take trust lightly.

What skills should talented people in the financial industry have?

I believe that they must have the ability to provide the best service to customers based on their professional knowledge of finance. By explaining things in an easy-to-understand manner to customers who lack professional knowledge of finance, they can help them understand, which will lead to more customers trusting the financial institution. I teach social studies to students at a cram school, and I believe that this experience will help me improve my ability to convey what I know to others.

Growth

My parents took extra care of my disabled younger sibling, and I hated them for taking away their love for me. However, my sibling loved and followed me very much. One day, I saw a diary my sibling had written, and I realized that I had been very harsh toward them. “I want to be friends with my sister (brother).” The handwriting was messy, but when I read the diary, I burst into tears. That day, I reflected on how badly I had treated my brother. Since then, my brother and I have become very close. Living with my sister, I realized how frightening prejudice can be. When we went out together, I could feel people staring at us. It wasn’t just prejudice against disabilities. I began to think deeply about how our society views “difference” as something strange. Perhaps I, too, had been caught up in that prejudice. However, during my college years, I participated in a campaign organized by an organization called XX to eradicate the social atmosphere of coldness toward the weak and minorities in our society. I believe that treating people without prejudice or preconceptions is the reason why I am loved by so many people.

Reason for applying

I first started doing business with KB Kookmin Bank when I was in the third grade of elementary school. That was when I first became aware of money. My parents opened a bank account in my name and deposited 50,000 won into it every month as pocket money. Since they didn’t give me cash, I frequented the bank like a regular customer. I thought I had to withdraw only what I needed, so I would withdraw 1,000 won at a time, and I remember bothering the bank employees at the time. However, they never showed any sign of dislike toward me and instead helped me establish a solid understanding of economics. I believe that this kind of customer-oriented attitude among your employees is the reason why your bank has become the top bank in Korea. I would like to start my practical experience in the financial industry as an intern at your company, which is committed to serving its customers and doing its best for them. With its extensive customer database and solid financial management, Kookmin Bank boasts excellent performance, and I am confident that it will remain firmly in place even in a rapidly changing environment. I applied for this position because I want to work with Kookmin Bank and pursue my dream of becoming a financial professional.

Success and failure experiences

As a business administration major, I worked for my school newspaper, writing articles on economics. I interviewed major business leaders and wrote columns analyzing the economic situation in Korea. I was very passionate about this section because it was closely watched by my fellow students, and I worked hard to gather accurate information. Once, I traveled to Busan and waited two days to interview Professor ○○, a renowned economist in Korea. He was very busy and couldn’t spare even a moment of his time, but when he saw me waiting in front of his hotel in Busan for a five-minute interview, he gave me 30 minutes of his precious time. I believe he appreciated my enthusiasm.
The professor’s valuable interview was published not only in the school newspaper but also in a daily newspaper. I felt happy as I poured my passion into my work as a newspaper reporter. From selecting topics to researching materials, I was busy all week, but I felt happy during that time. I think it was because of the joy of learning new things and meeting new people. I realized the joy of working with passion. I felt that when you do something with a sense of mission and passion, the sense of accomplishment is great. I will be an intern who actively demonstrates this passion.

A time in the past I would like to return to

I would like to go back to high school. I don’t think I had much free time back then. I neglected volunteer work because I didn’t have enough time. Of course, I wasn’t able to actively pursue any hobbies either. With this experience, when I entered university, I continued to tutor at the XX Youth Training Center for four years, which allowed me to develop a caring attitude toward others. I also actively participated in a dance club and learned to enjoy my hobbies. Every time I think about it, I wish I had realized this joy sooner. If I could go back to high school, I would like to live a more relaxed life and have more diverse experiences. The same goes for my future life. Since I didn’t start early, I will work harder and do my best in life.

Proposals for establishing corporate status

I believe that continuing to put customers first is the best way to establish our position. If we develop financial products based on a customer-first mindset, I believe that Kookmin Bank will always have a bright future. In order to develop products that reflect customer needs, I believe it is necessary to analyze a wide range of customers. As a long-time customer of Kookmin Bank, I have always thought about what kind of products the bank should offer. The answer is not far away. Everyone does business with banks. Kookmin Bank employees are also Kookmin Bank customers. Therefore, I believe it is not difficult to develop innovative products from the customer’s perspective. I believe it is necessary to continue building an image of a bank that conveys sincerity to customers and empowers them. In addition, I believe it is necessary to continuously review the risks associated with electronic transactions in line with social trends and establish measures to prevent exposure to financial crimes, thereby minimizing customer anxiety. By thoroughly protecting customer information and preparing for information leaks, we will be able to build an image of a bank that customers can trust. Based on these ideas, I will strive for the further development of Kookmin Bank.
