How to write a self-introduction letter that reflects your field experience

In this blog post, we will guide you on how to write a self-introduction letter that effectively incorporates your field experience as a practical design job applicant.

Growth

“Effort is valuable, and small things add up.”
I have a desk that I have kept for a long time. It is old and worn in places, but this desk is very precious to me because I bought it myself when I was in fifth grade. You may wonder how a fifth grader could afford to buy a desk, but I was a child who saved my allowance every year and was chosen as the best saver in my class. My family didn’t have much money, but that motivated me to not spend money carelessly like my parents. Seeing my mother buy one piece of clothing and wear it for ten years, I decided to do the same. Seeing my father wear one pair of shoes for five years, I decided to do the same. So I saved diligently and was able to accumulate nearly 1 million won. My parents also saved money at that time, and when I was in fifth grade, we moved for the first time. Until then, we had been renting a room in someone else’s house, so I always had to be careful and couldn’t buy anything delicious to eat. I had never even ordered a bowl of jajangmyeon, but now I was going to have my own house, and I was so happy. When we got our new house, I used my savings to buy a desk that I had wanted for a long time. I still remember the thrill of going to a furniture store with my father and choosing the best desk for myself. At that time, I realized the importance of saving money and that it is enjoyable to buy something good by waiting and saving, and I was able to naturally develop a spirit of thriftiness and learn to resist temptation. That is why I still keep a household account book and manage my money well, and I want to pass on this spirit of thriftiness, which is our family motto, to my children, who are just starting to crawl.

Personality

“I am a positive and motivated person.”
I have a positive personality. When I am working on a design, the word I hear most often from those around me is “positive.” Design is usually a long and laborious process, but in reality, it is rare for someone to recognize the time and effort involved and entrust you with the work. Instead, most of the time, people think it will be quick and give you an unreasonable deadline. Because of this, in my position as a subcontractor, my work is often difficult, and I often have to work late into the night. However, I never get angry or frustrated when this happens. Instead, I enjoy the work as if it were something I was meant to do, and when the people around me see me like this, they stop getting angry and start laughing with me, saying that my positive energy is kicking in again. This is how I am able to smile no matter what happens. Ultimately, it is because I know that I can do it, and I believe that I should do what I have to do with a smile. I am also a person with enough drive to be this positive. Once I start something, I don’t stop until I finish it. That is why everyone who entrusts me with work trusts me.
The downside of my personality is that I tend to be harsh when I work, so sometimes people say that I am cold when I work. However, this is work, and it is necessary to be cold and make no mistakes, so I think it is natural to be strict when necessary. That is why I try to take good care of people and show my best side when I am not working.

School life

“I liked getting along with others and learned a lot through group activities.”
I have enjoyed socializing since elementary school. I especially liked soccer, so I would go outside during recess to play soccer and hang out with my friends. In high school, I would always go outside during lunch to play basketball and relieve stress. As I grew up in the same neighborhood, all my friends are similar, so I still play sports with them. Every Sunday, we get together to play sports and talk about our lives, and it’s so much fun. I also learned a lot from group life in college. In particular, through volunteer clubs and reading discussion clubs at college, I realized that everyone has different ways of thinking, and by sharing those thoughts, I felt like my narrow-mindedness was gradually expanding. In the volunteer club, the senior-junior relationship was very strict, so I also learned how to respect my seniors. Other notable experiences include testing my limits and rearming my spirit while serving in the Marine Corps, and winning an award through a contest.

Major and self-development

“Mechanical Engineering, obtaining certifications”
I majored in mechanical engineering. I have always enjoyed working with machines, and I like the meticulous nature of design. While attending school, I focused on learning mechanical engineering, which teaches the methods and theories necessary for cutting raw materials in various ways to make parts, and materials mechanics, which teaches the application of the principles of mechanics from one-dimensional to three-dimensional continua, with an emphasis on the basic principles of mechanics and the explanation of equilibrium structures. and automotive engineering to build a solid foundation. I then gained practical experience through materials strength engineering, which covers specific concepts related to the yield of materials not covered in materials mechanics, as well as mechanisms and models related to material destruction. Based on what I learned, I obtained a general mechanical engineer license. Recently, I obtained a mechanical equipment engineer license, which I believe will enable me to further enhance my knowledge of machinery, equipment, and design.

Motivation and aspirations

“I will be a sincere and meticulous employee.”
I worked at a subcontracting company specializing in design and equipment, mainly receiving work from a company that designs and assembles parts for refrigerators. My duties included reassembling machines that arrived at the factory, modifying and assembling them to fit our factory’s systems, repairing defects in existing machines, and designing machines that combined the advantages of existing and new machines. When there was a lot of work, I naturally became accustomed to the work and learned to work quickly and accurately. Based on these skills, I decided to apply for a position at your company.
If I am hired, I promise to be sincere in my work. I also promise to strive to create meticulous and perfect designs. Your company is a well-established company that operates a factory professionally, manufactures new parts, and communicates with global companies. I will take pride in working for your company and develop a sense of responsibility. Based on that responsibility, I will work diligently to improve the quality of my work. I will become a reliable employee. Thank you for your consideration.
