In this blog post, we will introduce how to effectively include your contest awards in your self-introduction letter by connecting them to your actual marketing skills and problem-solving abilities, rather than simply listing them as experience.
Growth
“My parents who built my confidence”
Thanks to my parents, who actively supported me in whatever I wanted to do, I enjoyed trying various activities during my school days. In middle school, I was active in an animation club and participated in competitions with my club friends. Looking back now, my drawings and works were poorly put together, but at the time, I enjoyed pouring my passion into something, and I was happy to talk and work with friends who shared my interests.
Whenever I had concerns, my parents would offer words of wisdom based on their life experiences, helping me make wise choices. When I was afraid of making decisions or discouraged by my failures, they encouraged me to overcome those situations and gave me the courage to move forward. Through my parents, I learned how important it is to have sufficient encouragement and support during one’s formative years in order to develop self-confidence.
The most important value my parents taught me was sincerity. That is why I always went to school with my father when he left for work, and I was the first student to arrive at school every day since elementary school. This sincerity carried over into my college life. I always studied in advance for exams, actively sought advice from professors when doing assignments, and bothered my seniors to ensure that my assignments were complete and submitted them first.
School Life
“Club activities and mentoring”
I enrolled in the Department of Business Administration and was very active in my studies, but as soon as I entered university, I joined an animation club. I had been in an animation club in junior high school, so I decided to continue in university. My work had improved greatly since my childhood, and I collaborated with other club members to prepare works for competitions.
It was a task that I couldn’t handle on my own, but by working together, we were able to finish quickly, and it also gave me a chance to become closer with my club friends. I won an encouragement award at a content creation contest for the originality of my ideas.
In my department, I was actively involved in volunteer activities. I wanted to do well in all three areas—club activities, volunteer work, and department classes—so I was always busy and working hard. Even so, I didn’t put off obtaining computer and management instructor certifications, and I earned them all.
Through club activities and departmental projects, I learned how to work harmoniously within an organization and experienced that passion can lead to unexpected results.
In my third year, I was assigned to mentor an exchange student studying in my department. My friend was from Finland and didn’t speak Korean very well, so we had to communicate in English. It wasn’t very fun to study just for my TOEIC score, but after mentoring my friend for a year, my English improved a lot.
When we didn’t have class or on Saturdays, we visited cultural heritage sites in Korea, and I took him to famous places in Seoul so he could experience them. Once, he caught a cold during the change of seasons and was in a lot of pain, so I felt sorry for him and asked my mother to take care of him at our house for a day. Even now, when he talks about this, he says that Koreans are the best people in Korea.
Personality
“Communication skills and time management skills”
My greatest strength is my communication skills. When I was in college, if there was a conflict among my friends during group activities, I would identify the cause and propose a solution. Since everyone’s suggestions were well-intentioned, I would gather the common points from each opinion and come up with a conclusion that was most satisfactory to everyone, thereby resolving the conflict.
I am persistent and driven. If quitting smoking is the hardest thing for men, then dieting is probably the hardest thing for women. When I was in my senior year of high school, I weighed 63 kg. I was so heavy that I decided I had to lose weight, so I went on a diet for two months from winter break until I entered college, controlling my diet. I exercised regularly for two hours every day and lost 6 kg. Even after entering university, I continued to control my diet and exercise regularly, and now I weigh 10 kg less than I did in high school.
I am good at time management and work quickly. I am also very punctual. When doing assignments, I make a plan in advance and submit them early. However, because I tend to work quickly, people sometimes say that I am impatient. I am always careful not to stress others, and I work with a sense of urgency.
Volunteer work
“Volunteering makes me happy.”
I participated in a volunteer club within the Department of Business Administration. I volunteered at a facility for the visually impaired that has had a long relationship with my department. At first, I was not used to helping visually impaired people with their meals and activities, so I made some mistakes, but even when I did, they responded with warm words.
Although it was called volunteer work, it was actually a healing experience for me. It was a time when I gained strength and courage from people who saw others with their hearts. The more I volunteered, the more I realized that it was not an activity to help others, but an activity that made me happy.
Aspirations after joining the company
“A marketer with a sense of mission”
With the spread of the Korean Wave and K-pop around the world, there is a lot of international interest in Korea’s diverse entertainment content. Lotte Cinema has such a big influence that it would not be an exaggeration to say that it is one of the two leaders of the Korean film industry, so I think it has a national responsibility to grow into a global company in the entertainment field.
Even if we take advantage of the Korean Wave to grow the global market, it will be difficult to achieve success without excellent content and marketing that promotes it well. That is why I will work with a sense of mission as a marketer at Lotte Cinema.
As a member of a global entertainment company, I will not be satisfied with my current language skills, but will continue to study English, Chinese, and Japanese to become a global talent and be able to work at overseas branches with ease.
