In this blog post, we will show you how to convincingly incorporate your quick decision-making skills and experience in performing tasks accurately, which are essential for facility jobs, into your application letter.
Growth
“A childhood that fostered independence and self-reliance”
After my parents divorced when I was young, I was raised by my grandparents. My grandparents were elderly, so I never acted childish and was a grandchild who helped my grandmother a lot. From elementary school, I matured early and even volunteered to run errands for my grandmother. I always felt sad that I didn’t grow up with my mother’s love, but I grew up receiving plenty of love from my grandparents, who always treated me warmly.
My father worked in construction and was often away on business trips, so he couldn’t spend much time with me. However, he often called me to ask how I was doing. He often told me that just because my parents were divorced didn’t mean that my mother didn’t love me.
My grandparents and father were worried that I would go astray during puberty without my parents’ guidance. However, I couldn’t go astray because of the love my grandparents gave me so generously. I tried to understand that my mother must have had her own reasons for leaving, rather than resenting her for never seeing her since she left.
From high school, I found ways to do the things I wanted to do on my own. I grew up developing independence and courage, relying on my own strength to take on challenges and overcome difficulties without depending on my grandparents or father. I worked part-time since high school to earn my own spending money. Through my part-time jobs, I came to understand that social life is not easy. In particular, I worked as a food delivery driver and at a gas station, and I learned for the first time that many people treat service workers poorly.
I realized how much it hurts people to be discriminated against or treated rudely based on their circumstances and conditions, so I learned a lot from adults who were polite. Through these experiences, I learned to think from the other person’s perspective, understand their point of view, and empathize with them, which helped me build good relationships with people.
School life
“A career path I chose after careful consideration”
I joined the military right after graduating from high school. My grades in high school weren’t bad, staying above a 4, but I couldn’t decide whether to go to college or start working right away. So, in my senior year of high school, I decided to join the military after graduation, and I was able to enlist right after graduating. My grandparents and father were very disappointed in my choice, but they gave me plenty of time to think about it while I was in the military. They told me many times that they would help and support me no matter what I chose to do.
When I became a corporal, I finally made up my mind to go to college. One way to repay my father and grandparents for their hard work was to enter the workforce quickly, but I thought that studying a little longer to get a better job would also be a good choice.
So, whenever I had free time, I started preparing for the college entrance exam. My friends were already in their second and third years of college, and I felt like I was starting late, but I knew that if they went to the military, they would have to repeat a year, so I focused hard on my studies. Because I had thought carefully about my career path, I was able to study much more efficiently and concentrate better. I made a study schedule of 10 hours a day and worked part-time for 6 hours a day. It was a year spent memorizing English words in my spare time and cherishing every 10 minutes.
Thanks to that, I was able to enroll in the mechanical engineering department at the university I wanted to attend. While in college, I obtained an industrial engineer license and raised my TOEIC score to 700. Although my grades were not high, I was proud of myself for achieving this much through online lectures and self-study without attending a cram school.
While attending university, I attended classes on weekdays and worked part-time on weekends. I didn’t have much time to study, but I reduced my sleeping hours and reviewed the day’s lessons in the evening, studying consistently regardless of exam periods. It was a difficult life balancing my studies and part-time job, but I am satisfied with my college life because I achieved my goals and did my best.
Strengths and weaknesses
“A man with excellent time management skills”
I am very good at time management and live a planned life. I am diligent and keep my appointments. I always leave a little early for appointments and manage my schedule while waiting. I use my cell phone scheduler to carefully check my to-do list and appointments. When I had a part-time job, I always arrived 30 minutes early to tidy up the store and prepare for work. This attitude made a good impression on my coworkers, and it was nice to be able to start work well-prepared and without rushing.
I have excellent concentration and work quickly. I am known for getting things done quickly and accurately without making mistakes. Whenever I did practical training at school, my friends would tell me that I seemed like someone who had worked in the field, and I always received the highest marks for my perfect work.
Sometimes people say that I have a quick temper. In particular, when working with others, I sometimes feel frustrated by the slow pace of others. However, through participating in various projects and working with others during my college years, I came to recognize that everyone has their own pace. I believe that speed is not always the best approach, so I try to be humble and considerate of others.
Motivation for applying and aspirations
“Talent that pursues change and innovation”
○○ Confectionery is a leading confectionery company that has been providing snacks in Korea since 19○○. Throughout its long history, it has grown steadily and produced many hit products, and snacks such as ○○○ and ○○○ have been enjoyed by children for many years. When I heard about the opportunity to work in the production team at ○○ Confectionery, which has such a friendly image, I did not hesitate to apply.
Through various part-time jobs that I did continuously from high school to college, I learned the basics of social life and that no matter how difficult it is, if you are considerate of your coworkers and take the initiative, you will be recognized by the organization and the entire organization will grow.
If I join your company, I will do my best to further develop the quick and accurate work skills I acquired during my university training and to develop and operate the production facilities of ○○ Confectionery more efficiently. I will not be afraid of change and innovation, but will take on new challenges and contribute to the development of the community as a whole.
