In this blog post, we will introduce how to write a self-introduction letter that effectively highlights your schedule management skills. Learn tips on how to emphasize your planning and execution skills.

“I tore my pants during a PPT contest.”
I am confident and enjoy giving presentations and speaking in front of people. Although I am a woman, I am naturally more rational and ambitious, and I find joy in explaining what I have and what I have prepared in front of people. That’s why I tore my pants at a PPT contest. I won first place in a school PPT contest and was able to participate in a national PPT contest for college students, so I was very nervous and prepared hard for the contest. The theme at the time was “future design,” which I thought was a perfect theme for us, as we were mechanical engineering majors and very interested in design. However, the problem was that I was so nervous that I forgot to bring a suit. I brought a white shirt, but I had nothing to wear on the bottom. It was obvious that I would lose points if I didn’t wear a suit for the PPT presentation. However, all the members of my team were men, and there was nowhere to borrow a skirt. So, what I did was tear my pants. I asked one of my teammates who was wearing black pants to tear them and make a skirt, and then I went out confidently, gave my presentation, won an award, and came back. Because I was confident, no one seemed to care what I was wearing. At that moment, I felt the power of confidence. I was also grateful to my teammates for their generosity. Because I tore my friend’s pants, he couldn’t come to the PPT contest and had to stay in a motel room with only a blanket to cover himself. At that moment, I realized how important and essential cooperation and help are. I think it was a fun and rewarding experience for me.
Major and achievements
“Major in mechanical engineering, minor in business administration”
In mechanical engineering, we study how to work with machines directly, so I think I learned very practical things. I learned about mechanical engineering, which focuses on the methods and theories necessary for cutting raw materials in various ways to make parts; materials science, which focuses on the basic principles of mechanics and the explanation of equilibrium structures, and the application of the principles of mechanics from one-dimensional to three-dimensional continua; combustion and pollution, which covers various phenomena that occur during the combustion process and technologies for controlling air pollutants; and automotive engineering, which covers the development of automotive power systems, the theoretical operating principles and performance of prime movers, and the comparison of their design fundamentals. I studied the development process of automotive power engines and learned the basics of design by comparing the theoretical operating principles and performance of prime movers. I also studied materials strength, which covers specific concepts related to the yield of materials not covered in materials mechanics and mechanisms and models of material destruction. I prepared for practical work by studying major engineering disciplines and conducting practical training. I also minored in business administration. During a lecture by Ahn Cheol-soo, who is considered a pioneer in the field of technology, I heard him say that engineering students should study business administration, so I immediately applied for the program. I think management is a more advanced field than engineering, and it teaches you more about planning and strategy than practical work. Through PowerPoint presentations and team projects, I realized that my outgoing personality was well suited to presenting and expressing my opinions, which motivated me to work diligently on PowerPoint presentations and external activities. I think this major helped me discover another talent I had besides engineering.
Construction and Plant Industry
“Gaining knowledge in my major through plant lectures and industrial training.”
Plant engineering was such a promising field that I remember listening very intently to guest lectures by famous professors and practitioners whenever I had the opportunity as an engineering student. I also gained knowledge in my major and prepared for practical work through industrial training. As far as I know, plants are bound to be a promising business because they are production facilities that combine machines and devices in a technologically complex manner to manufacture raw materials, intermediate goods, and final products according to the manufacturer’s specifications. In other words, it can be said that it is an essential business in today’s world, where machines and raw materials are inseparable. In particular, I was deeply interested in power plants and chemical plants, which are small, medium, or large-scale facilities for the production of machinery and products made through mechanical integration, and unit factories created by applying diverse systems of technology and machinery. At that time, I heard about GS E&C for the first time and wanted to work for a company that was growing through active exports and imports.
Desired job and reason
“Because I understand the importance of planning.”
I chose GS, a company that is truly number one. And among the various positions available, I chose to work as a scheduler in the construction industry. I thought this job would be a good fit for me because it is an area where I can leverage my strengths as a woman, and because I saw myself growing and developing in this role. I didn’t want to hear people say that I was weak because I was a woman, so I threw myself into many projects while I was in college. During that time, I definitely felt my limitations as a woman, but in order to overcome them, I made very detailed plans for each day. I would wake up in the morning, eat breakfast, and then decide what I needed to do for the next hour or 30 minutes. I would spend time preparing for which projects, and I would calculate my route and decide what project to study next. When I had to go to a lecture that I couldn’t miss, I would plan my route and what I would do during the time I was away. I planned my day very meticulously and systematically, and then I carried out my plan. As a result, by the time I graduated from college, I had filled more than 50 notebooks. This is because I not only wrote down my ideas, but also always made the most of my time. Based on my personality, abilities, and efforts to improve my physical fitness, I would like to do my best as a scheduler at your company. I want to become the person who can carry out your company’s work in the most efficient and active manner possible. I still have a lot to learn, but I will work hard to learn from my seniors so that I can work faster and help GS Construction become a more prominent company among global companies.
Creative problem-solving skills
“Healthy Lunch Box Project”
One of the fantasies people have about college is that they will have a club that is more than just a club. They think that they will meet friendly seniors and juniors there and talk about their dreams and hopes. However, the reality is completely different. In most cases, they are not interested at all. Everyone is busy with their own work and there is little teamwork, so they rarely participate in department events. I wanted to change this after becoming a department representative. So, I consulted with the welfare department and launched the “Healthy Lunch Box” project. These days, college students eat too much salty and sweet food or don’t eat enough, so they worry a lot about their diet. So, I always put healthy lunch boxes in the department room for friends who don’t eat or eat too much. I applied to a newly opened restaurant near the school for sponsorship and publicity, and asked them to provide lunch boxes at a slightly discounted price. The result was a win-win situation for both the restaurant and the department room. People gathered at the study room when they heard about the lunch boxes, and it became a place where they could naturally engage in conversation. The lunch box shop also benefited, as customers who had not visited in a year began to return after hearing about the delicious food. As a result, I was able to promote harmony within the department and foster a sense of well-being.
