What kind of experience should applicants to the insurance industry focus on?

In this blog post, we will introduce the key experiences and expressions that applicants preparing for employment in the insurance industry should emphasize in their self-introduction letters.

Growth Process

Passion and Restraint
My parents both worked, so I spent a lot of time with my younger sibling. As the eldest child, I tried to be a good role model for my sibling, which helped me develop a strong sense of responsibility from an early age.
At school, I enjoyed giving presentations and expressing my opinions in front of my classmates, and I was always an active participant in class. I was popular with my teachers and friends throughout my school years because I was outgoing and good at sports.
I was a child full of passion. I enjoyed hanging out with my friends and playing pranks, and I was taller than other children, so I was confident everywhere I went. I was determined and physically fit, and I loved soccer, so I formed a soccer team with my friends. I was a fast runner, so I was always selected to represent my class in sports competitions. I was also very flexible, and in middle school, I took up ballet at the recommendation of my dance teacher. There was a ballet class as an extracurricular activity at my school, but there were not enough male students, so I played an active role in the ballet class, participating in performances at every school festival. However, after entering high school, I quit ballet to focus on my studies.
Growing up with parents who had a strong sense of financial awareness, I learned to be thrifty at an early age. When I received New Year’s money or allowance, I saved it instead of buying toys or shoes I wanted, and used the money I saved for things I really wanted to do. I saved it all except for gifts for my parents’ birthdays and anniversaries, and when I had enough money, I used it to buy a laptop when I went to college. This meticulousness and self-restraint were also advantages when I was studying at college.

Strengths and weaknesses

Responsible and persuasive
I am logical and persuasive. In college, I was a member of a book discussion club. I joined the club to have more opportunities to read books, and through reading books and sharing and discussing our different impressions of them, I developed the ability to think logically and express my opinions accurately.
I have a cheerful and refreshing personality. Thanks to this personality, I was a responsible and leader-like student throughout my school life. Living with a positive mindset gives me good energy, which I spread to those around me, making them enjoy being around me.
I am responsible and meticulous. Even during my military service, I always took the lead as a squad leader with a sense of responsibility when building fortifications or doing physically demanding work. I took good care of my fellow soldiers and thoroughly checked that their tasks were completed.
Because I am responsible and meticulous in my work, I tend to be too thorough even with tasks that are easy to handle, which can be a disadvantage when it causes delays. I am overcoming this weakness by always making a schedule for the tasks assigned to me so that there are no delays.

School Life

Steadily Preparing for Employment
I did not have a specific career path in mind, so I majored in economics. While taking classes in my major, I found that I enjoyed mathematics and logic, and I thought it would be helpful for finding employment after graduation.
I planned my daily schedule to prepare for qualifications related to my major and to improve my English and computer skills.
I obtained computer skills and word processing certifications and scored 890 on the TOEIC English test. Hearing that it was a certification with the most promising prospects, I prepared for the insurance actuary certification, passed the first stage, and am currently awaiting the results of the second stage. Once I obtain the insurance actuary certification, I will not stop there, but will also obtain the US insurance actuary certification.
After completing my military service, I returned to school and worked in the department office for six months. During the semester, I had many opportunities to talk with professors whom I had not been close to before, which helped me build relationships with them. It was also very helpful for my studies to have access to class information and job information.

Language Training

Successful Training Experience
I thought that living abroad was the best experience I could have during college, so I went to Vancouver, Canada for language training. I wanted to stay for more than a year, but due to financial constraints, I ended up going on a six-month short-term training course.
Many people close to me told me that there were many Koreans in Vancouver and that I would likely fail my language study program if I spent all my time with other Koreans, but I was able to focus on my studies. Many of my Korean friends were from less affluent families than my friends from wealthy families, but they worked hard to participate in the language study program, which helped me focus on my studies.
Thanks to my sense of responsibility and meticulous personality, I was able to get through the difficult life in a foreign country. On weekends, I made the most of my short training period by visiting nearby markets and taking short trips to nearby places.
I think my language training was successful because I was able to meet various people and develop language skills sufficient to communicate with foreigners.

Motivation and aspirations

A company I trust as a customer and am proud to work for as an employee
Insurance is a service that consumers purchase for the future, so it is natural for consumers to want to entrust a company that will earn their trust over 30, 50, or even 100 years. KDB Life Insurance is a company that puts customer trust first and strives to uphold the noble values of life insurance with honesty and responsibility, which is why I applied with confidence as a customer.
Once I join the company, I will quickly familiarize myself with my duties and perform my work accurately and meticulously. I am proficient in MS Office applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and I have a well-rounded knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and economics. With my proactive and positive personality, I will enthusiastically take on any task and complete it with a sense of responsibility. I will take the lead in building good relationships with my colleagues to create a vibrant workplace. I will do my best to contribute to the growth of the company by mobilizing all my capabilities to ensure customer satisfaction and high profits.
